    Enrolled Nurse - Cape Town

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Perform PICT for clients presenting at health facilities and/or their partners; and appropriate referral;
    • Screen clients for STIs, TB, Hypertension, Diabetes and refer for provision of symptomatic management in facility and community
    • Provide phlebotomy services as needed for baseline bloods (pre-ART patients), VL and other monitoring bloods for patients already on ART in decanted modalities or general follow-up care
    • Supervise the implementation of Anova’s APACE support activities at facility and community level, in line with 959595 strategy and workplan
    • Support Anova and/or DOH counsellors providing case finding and linkage to care services as well as adherence clubs/DMOC activities.
    • Supervise Internal Quality control, Proficiency Testing Survey and other Rapid Testing Quality Improvement activities at facility and community level.
    • Supervise and perform monitoring activities including updating of registers and collection of data and validating of data.
    • Adhere to individual target requirements as per team lead/supervisor directive and maintain data collection requirements.
    • Together with HTS (HIV Testing Services) Coordinator, attend to meetings with community leaders, community members and other stakeholders.

    Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required

    • Enrolled Nursing qualification
    • At least 3 years’ experience in Enrolled Nurse duties
    • At least 3 years’ experience in HIV or public health environment
    • Able to demonstrate ability to manage data collection and reporting.
    • Computer Literate – MS Office Packages (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel & PowerPoint)
    • Excellent Communication skills and ability to speak one of the local languages, English, Afrikaans and IsiXhosa
    • Valid driver’s license is an advantage.
    • Innovative, organized, analytical and excellent interpretation data skills.
    • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention and community health issues
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Attention to detail.

    Professional Nurse Talent

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Champion the Anova 95-95-95 in-facility activities by leading the facility meetings and supporting weekly data review, monitor attendance and liaise between Anova and the facility.
    • Work with the outreach teams to get referrals and to initiate ART for eligible HIV infected clients including PrEP.
    • Provide clinical services (initiation & follow up care) for patients diagnosed with HIV and/or TB in line with DoH HIV Management guidelines.
    • Provide PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) for eligible HIV negative people. Screen for opportunistic infections and provide the appropriate prophylaxis.
    • Routinely conduct audits of patient files & registers; monitor performance of (TB/HIV/STI) programmes at facility level and provide mentorship & technical support where required.
    • Identify poor performing indicators, put together quality improvement (QI) plans and implement as agreed upon with the facility team.
    • Identify training needs at facility level and arrange in-service training where needed.
    • Use relevant M&E tools to report weekly to Anova sub-district team on number of clients initiated on ART and TPT
    • Attend weekly facility nerve centre/programme review meetings.

    Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required

    • A degree or diploma qualification as a Professional Nurse
    • Valid registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council
    • NIMART trained and certified as competent to work independently.
    • At least 3 years’ experience in working at a clinic (PHC or CHC)
    • At least 2 years' experience working in HIV & TB programmes/services.
    • Familiar with latest HIV Management, Prep, STI and TB and guidelines
    • PHC Qualification is advantageous.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Good report writing skills.
    • Strong organizational skills, including time management and multi-tasking skills.
    • Driver’s License is required and ability to drive.

    Retention Counsellor

    Key duties and responsibilities:

    • Provide comprehensive counselling to promote retention in line with DoH policies and guidelines and in line with District 909090 DIP and Sub-district IP 909090 plans.
    • Recruit and receive referrals of high-risk patients such as pregnant women, paediatrics, adolescents and youth.
    • Promote and facilitate index testing and facilitate partner disclosure using the Index Screening Tool and actively refer for HTS.
    • Collaborate with Ward Based Outreach team and DoH Social Worker, Dietician, Lay Counsellors, and Clinicians for bi-lateral referrals.
    • Report as per agreed timelines to Professional at the facility or other Anova team members as required.
    • Be available to work on weekends &/ or Public Holidays to provide adherence counselling at DoH facilities when required, a minimum of at least one Saturday per month (When required).
    • Certificate in couple counselling, RTCQI, disclosure and paediatric consent an advantage.
    • Knowledge of DoH HTS guidelines & protocols.
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as an HTS counsellor/ Adherence counsellor Adherence counsellor

    Minimum qualifications and experience:

    • Grade 12 Certificate.
    • Training in Basic HAST, HIV Counselling, Adherence counselling
    • Certificate in couple counselling, RTCQI, disclosure and paediatric consent an advantage.
    • Knowledge of DoH HTS guidelines & protocols.
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as an HTS counsellor/ Adherence counsellor Adherence counsellor

    Social Auxiliary Work

    Key duties and responsibilities:

    Child and Adolescent Disclosure in the context of HIV

    • Identify and offer disclosure counseling to Children and Adolescents living with HIV that still need disclosure.
    • Identify and provide disclosure support to parents/caregivers that need support to disclose to their children/adolescents.

    Support groups

    • Facilitate support groups in facilities with emphasis on children and adolescents living with HIV.
    • Facilitate caregiver support groups to promote adherence for peads and adolescents.

    Facilitating referral of children and adolescents living with HIV to resource systems

    • Design, maintain and distribute referral resource list to facilities.
    • Ensure feedback between facilities and organisations of referred cases.

    Adherence/Retention of children and adolescents

    • Provide one-on-one counselling sessions to caregivers and children and adolescents living with HIV.
    • Recruit 90% of unsuppressed and disengaged paediatrics and adolescents into Case Management and provide Monthly Adherence Counselling to peads and adolescent in Case Management.

      Capacity building
       
    • Provide training and mentorship to facility and other staff on adherence and disclosure, support group facilitation, referral system and adherence.

    Team management

    • Support and oversee peer supporters in the project.

    Minimum qualifications and experience:

    • Matric/Grade 12 certificate
    • Social Auxiliary Work certificate recognised by the Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority (HWSETA) and enrolled in Social Work degree.
    • Must have at least 2-5 years’ experience working with PLHIV (people living with HIV).
    • Training in KidzAlive, Integrated Access to Care and Treatment (I-ACT) and NAS (National Adherence Strategy) an advantage

    Skills, competencies, and attributes:

    • Must have experience working in HIV/AIDS programmes and supervision of staff.
    • Good presentation and excellent communication skills and good report writing skills
    • Strong interpersonal and team work skills.
    • Proficiency with MS Office, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel.
