    Heavy Commercial Claims Moderator

    OPPORTUNITY

    A position has become available in our Motor Claims department for a Heavy Commercial Claims Moderator. The successful incumbent will be based in Auckland Park office, Johannesburg, Gauteng.

    WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE

    • To ensure the most appropriate and effective Heavy Commercial Vehicle (HCV) repair cost and process is approved on selected claims
    • Identification of trends and loss off economic opportunity within the claims life cycle
    • To increase and enhance the HCV Assessor skills in identifying and approving the most effective repair cost and process as well as guiding Adjusters on negotiation skills with HVR’s, Brokers and Clients through on the job coaching/peer coaching (Elevate the quality and assessing standard of HCV Assessors)
    • To provide specialist technical support
    • To physical do Work in Progress (WIP) on selected HCV claims
    • To assist Assessors to negotiate and settle claims with clients within the delegated threshold related to Santam’s financial risk and aligned to the Claims Framework and relevant SOP’s
    • Specific focus on technical quality of assessments and the implementation of correct repair methodology
    • Ensure application of business rules
    • Knowledge Sharing
    • Moderating the following key aspects of an assessment with specific reference to HCV repairs costs:
    • Validity of assessment on a digital basis
    • Ensuring a standard quality of assessment report
    • Validity of appropriate repair process at best possible repair cost is applied
    • Validity of additional repair cost approval and provide guidance
    • Evaluating final repair cost (FRC) calculations
    • Perform “Work in Progress” as well as “open and close file” audits where required
    • Providing continuous guidance and assistance on technical repairs
    • Liaising with HVR’s and assessors on technical aspects and repair methodology
    • Moderation of wrecks
    • Monthly and Ad Hoc reporting on the moderation results including solutions for improvement
    • On the job coaching/peer coaching

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Formal Qualified Diesel Mechanic, Panel beater or other Automotive relevant qualification in Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCV)
    • Minimum 10 years HCV or equivalent HCV claims assessing and claim settlement experience
    • At least 5 years technical knowledge HCV experience of mechanical damage, body damage and legal Industry repair requirements
    • Attendance of Santam Truck school training and or other related courses
    • Vehicle Damage Quantification Qualification (VDQ) member
    • Coaching experience
    • HCV Claims handling process experience
    • Previous experience and knowledge of HCV claims moderation is a recommendation

    Motor Desktop Assessor - Abuntex

    OPPORTUNITY

    • A position has become available for a Motor Desktop Assessor and will be based in the Motor Claims department at the Auckland Park, Johannesburg offices.

    WHAT WILL YOU DO

    • The purpose of this position is to determine the quantum and merit of segmented motor claims by performing investigations, verifying the description of the event with the loss, negotiating with (client, intermediary, and service providers) and settlement of claims within a delegated threshold and according to contract conditions.

    WHAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE

    • Quote and assess damage against a provided or requested quotation.
    • Decide whether to replace/ repair part/ use aftermarket spares when warranty has expired.
    • Refer to expert if required.
    • Generate claims report and communicate the outcome with client and intermediary.
    • Determine market value of vehicle for settlement (valuation).
    • Determine outstanding finance details, release settlements and documents to salvage inventory.
    • Authorise for repair, cash, replace or write-off.
    • Complete investigative report.
    • Make notes on systems, process claims and upload documents.
    • Required to load the order amendments.
    • Responsible to sign off the final cost (FC).
    • Responsible for posting claims to care.
    • Handle complaints, queries and interaction with clients, intermediaries, service providers, internal stakeholders’ relationship managers, claims committee and options from underwriters.

    • Driveable and Non-Driveable car / Ldv 
    • Non-structural and structural damaged car / Ldv

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Matric / Grade 12
    • Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical related studies or Automotive/ equivalent Mechanical or Automotive Body Repair Qualification (e.g. Qualified Panel Beater, Mechanic, Spray Painter, etc.)
    • VDQGBSA membership
    • Abuntex / Audatex Trained
    • 3 years’ experience in motor assessing
    • Technical skills & policy wording interpretation, product training and claim system training obtained through various training and courses would be advantageous.

    Manager: Compliance

    What will you do?

    • Our Risk Office (Group Compliance) has a position available for a Manager: Compliance who will be based in Bellville (Cape Town).
    • The Compliance Function is mandated to ensure that the compliance risks (i.e. compliance with regulatory, ethical, and internal and external policy obligations imposed on the Group) are appropriately monitored and addressed by management. A risk-based approach is adopted to ensure that material compliance risks are addressed and mitigated by the business.
    • The compliance function is accountable to the Santam Group Board, through the Santam Group Risk Committee to ensure that compliance risks are appropriately monitored and addressed by management. 
    • This is a Group function which will operate in all jurisdictions where Santam has a footprint in alignment with the necessary mandate. The role of the Manager: Compliance will be to assist the Group Compliance Function in the Execution of the Group Compliance mandate as set out by the Board.

    Compliance Risk Management

    • Ensuring that Compliance Risk Management Plans, monitoring plans and Compliance Universes are regularly updated

    • Post graduate Diploma in Compliance
    • Registered as a Compliance Officer under the FAIS Act for Category I FSPs with the FSCA.
    • Admitted attorney of the High Court.
    • Continuous adherence to the fit & proper requirements as determined by the Prudential Authority and the Financial Sector Conduct Authority.
    • Extensive knowledge of legislation, regulations and legal principles applicable to the financial services industry, in particular the insurance sector (non-life).
    • At least 5-8 years of experience in financial services industry, in particular the insurance sector (non-life).
    • At least 6-8 years of experience in compliance.
    • Good knowledge of the Protection of Personal Information Act and its requirements
    • 5 - 8 years management experience at management level.

    Reinsurance Analyst

    What will you do?
     

    Santam Reinsurance has two Reinsurance Analyst vacancies available. The role reports to one of the Territorial Heads and will be based at the Santam Head Office in Bellville.

    What will make you successful in this role?

    • The Reinsurance Underwriting Analyst will be responsible for assisting the Reinsurance Underwriter in underwriting and managing a reinsurance treaty book within one of Santam Reinsurance’s existing geographical regions. This job will appeal to anyone who wants to learn how to build and manage a portfolio of reinsurance risks. While previous experience is nice to have, anyone with a numerate university degree, 0-2 years of post-university work and a desire to work hard and learn should apply.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

    • Assist the Underwriter in developing, managing and maintaining a reinsurance treaty book in the chosen territory. This is both, a client facing role and an analytics and accounting role.
    • Building and maintaining reinsurance broker and client relationships for both existing business and potential business.
    • Pricing and underwriting the reinsurance treaties using a range of actuarial and softer methods as well as checking reinsurance contracts
    • Support the drive of profitability and growth in the chosen territory according to annual premium volume, profitability and volatility benchmarks. 
    • Research different region’s (Re)insurance sectors to determine the best strategy to employ on the portfolio.
    • Improving processes by actively engaging stakeholders on the processes involved in the underwriting process.
    • Analyzing contract wordings. Checking and monitoring accounts, payments and profitability of the book. 
    • Actively involved in projects determined by the Territorial Head and/or Chief Underwriter.
    • Administration; updating internal systems and files, running reports.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Undergraduate degree with a significant numerate component such as Math, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Physics, Engineering & Actuarial Science.
    • Up to 2 years’ of work experience preferably in the insurance/ reinsurance, finance and/ or risk management sectors.
    • Proficient in MS Office with a strong focus on MS Excel at an Intermediate to Advanced level.
    • Willingness to work over the Christmas and Easter Holiday period
    • Willingness to travel internationally 
    • Advantageous Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
    • Honours degree, Actuarial Qualification (FIA, CFA or actuarial students who have stopped the professional exams).
    • 0-2 years’ experience in the short-term insurance industry/reinsurance environment.

    Regional Manager: North - Agriculture Crop Insurance

    What will you do?

    • Manages the region and ensures development of sales to achieve national sales volumes. Responsible for promoting growth and profitability. Identifies and develop new markets, customers, and value-added marketing for higher net sales revenues. Manages and coordinates technical support to brokers during marketing of crop insurance in the region. Approves the pricing rate mandate for crop insurance policies. 
    • Building relationships with brokers and Mega Farmers. Compile sales and underwriting action plans/strategy and report back on progress during the sales period.
