    Network Security Architect - BSTD

    Brief description

    The main purpose of this position is to research, plan, architect, design and oversee the deployment of network security solutions within the South African Reserve Bank Group (SARB Group).

    Detailed description

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

    • Research and recommend emerging and fit-for-purpose network security solutions and participate in the procurement of such solutions aligned to the business strategy.
    • Define and evolve the SARB Group network security architecture in alignment with the to-be architecture.
    • Plan and develop network security architecture blueprints and roadmaps for network security solutions in alignment with industry best practices and standards.

    Senior Analyst – Domestic Settlement Services-NPSD

    Brief description

    The main purpose of this position is to oversee and manage projects, manage relationships with stakeholders and oversee the provision of the domestic settlement system on behalf of the National Payment System Department of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).

    Detailed description

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

    • Manage and co-ordinate project, change, operational and business analysis activities (e.g. identify deliverables, determine the scope of work and identify tasks) in order to develop and maintain the domestic settlement system, known as the South African Multiple Option Settlement (SAMOS) system.
    • Develop service level agreements with SAMOS participants and payment system operators. 
    • Ensure compliance with the service level agreements between the SAMOS system operator, the SAMOS participants and payment system operators.

    Business Solutions Support Analyst CSD

    Brief description

    The main purpose of this position is to provide systems related business support to users of critical business systems within the Facilities Management Division of the Corporate Services Department through facilitating the definition and documenting of system requirements, maintaining the integrity of data on systems, coordinating and communicating decisions during major system incidents.

    Detailed description

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

    • Work closely with business and Business Solutions and Technology Department (BSTD) to define and interpret business needs and requirements, as well as compile a business case for new and existing business solutions for Corporate Services Department.
    • Co-ordinate, guide and oversee the implementation and change management of new solutions, enhancements and upgrades to existing systems, in consultation with business, BSTD and/or other stakeholders ensuring alignment with business needs and requirements (business processes, reports, upgrades, patches and fixes).
    • Guide and manage business testing as well as verify testing results against the defined test case criteria.

    The main purpose of this position is to prepare and process soiled banknotes for destruction using high-speed note processing machines, to ensure an acceptable quality of banknotes in circulation.

    Detailed description

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

    • Engage in planning and perform tasks independently in accordance with set standards and engineering principles. 
    • Perform specialist diagnoses for sub- and integrated systems by applying set or modified techniques within a defined context.
    • Coordinate preventative and corrective maintenance in the sub- and integrated systems or equipment, and report on possible component failure to enhance system capability.
    • Select, apply and review best testing procedures and tools for all maintenance and project work.
    • Interpret work instructions and basic drawings pertaining to construction, HVAC, alterations/modifications, enhancement maintenance and specialist projects.

    The main purpose of this position is to provide financial insights, knowledge and expertise to the departments of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) to ensure commercially sound decisions.

    Detailed description

    • The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
    • Lead and participate in stakeholder engagements (internal and external), displaying the ability to solicit information as well as deliver a coherent and convincing message.
    • Represent the Financial Services Department by maintaining strategic relationships with critical stakeholders and SARB departments.
    • Provide financial expertise to SARB departments to ensure accurate accounting and budgeting for departmental operational and capital projects.

    The main purpose of this position is to provide food preparation and cooking services in all sections of the kitchen, under the guidance and supervision of the Hospitality Services Coordinator, within the Currency Management Department (CMD) of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB). 

    Detailed description

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

    • Plan and perform tasks against work plans as defined by the team leader. 
    • Identify, evaluate, and solve defined, routine and new problems within a familiar context, applying solutions based on relevant evidence and procedures while demonstrating an understanding of the consequences. 
    • Prepare and cook quality food items which includes, but is not limited to, salads, baked foods, refreshments and so forth, as per an approved menu. 
    • Provide support to the Hospitality Services Coordinator where required, including, but not limited to, stock management, cleaning, department administration, scullery duties and procurement, which includes the ordering of ingredients required for food preparation.
    • Assist with serving lunch to staff members and manning the pay points.
    • Adhere to hygiene, health, and safety standards in the kitchen, as well as the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and ISO 22000 (Food Safety Management) standards.

    Data Scientist - Financial Stability Department

    The main purpose of this position is to leverage industry knowledge and analytical expertise to lead the analysis of data in support of policy and decision making with respect to the departmental strategic mandate.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

    • Identify value driving opportunities for the application of advanced analytics in achieving the departmental mandate.
    • Execute advanced analytics’ use cases to derive insights across key departmental subject areas.

    Job requirements

    To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

    • a Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) field or an equivalent qualification;
    • data science certification;
    • data analytics or visualisation certification;
    • an advanced degree will be a strong advantage; and
    • six to eight years’ of experience in building, maintaining and optimising data and business intelligence (BI) solutions of which:
    • at least three to five years’ experience in building advanced analytics solutions as part of the analytics setup in a company/analytics services provider; and
    • a minimum of two years’ experience in deploying, maintaining and optimising advanced analytics solutions.
