    Commercial Contracts Administrator

    Duties        
    This role requires providing commercial contracts administrative support within the Faculty through: 

    • Managing the commercial contracts process within the Faculty;
    • Liaising with SU’s Legal Division in so far as commercial contracts are concerned;
    • Liaising with various support divisions within SU during the contract vetting and negotiation process;
    • Maintaining an effective electronic filing system;
    • Organising and analysing information received from within the Faculty;
    • Cross checking and validating information;
    • Preparing written reports and correspondence where required;
    • Checking and editing forms and documents for accuracy;
    • Building-and maintaining databases and organising and tracking case files within the Faculty;
    • Establishing and maintaining accurate electronic databases and distribution and contact lists within the Faculty;
    • Compiling and editing correspondence, reports and other forms of communication;
    • Responding to requests for documents and information;
    • Performing routine administrative tasks;
    • Typing letters, memoranda and other relevant documents;
    • Handling and/or referring general high-level enquiries from within the Faculty to SU’s Legal Division;
    • Assisting in the preparation of relevant documentation;
    • Assisting with the coordination of follow-up actions arising from meetings.

    Job Requirements        

    • A tertiary qualification in paralegal studies at NQF Level 6, or at least 80% of modules completed towards a paralegal qualification;
    • Broad knowledge of legal terminology and legal communication principles and practices;
    • Experience in contract drafting;
    • Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and web applications;
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
    • Customer service orientation;
    • Ability to effectively plan, organise, prioritise and anticipate future obstacles;
    • Ability to function accurately and effectively under pressure;
    • Strong research and analytical skills;
    • Problem-solving aptitude and critical thinking ability;

    Radiographer.

    Duties        
    To function as a Nuclear Medicine radiographer in the NII PET/ CT Unit. This includes but is not confined to:

    • Imaging of patients: including acquisition, processing, quality control, recording and back-up of acquired patient data;
    • Performing in-vitro (non-imaging) nuclear medicine procedures and tests on biological specimens;
    • Scheduling and managing workflows around patient scanning;
    • Advising and assisting in optimisation of patient preparation. Explaining test procedures and safety precautions to patients, escorts, and researchers;
    • Patient care, including interviewing; weight and height measurement; blood pressure measurement; blood glucose determination; general monitoring; intravenous catherisation; performance of urinary pregnancy tests; and blood sampling;
    • Managing consumables, including ordering, stock control and dispensing of radiopharmaceuticals;
    • Calculating, measuring and recording radiopharmaceutical doses received, used, and disposed;
    • Administration (including intravenous administration) of radiopharmaceuticals, intravenous contrast media, and adjunct medications under supervision of the NII nuclear medicine specialist;
    • Under supervision of the NII radiopharmacist: performing and assisting with radiopharmaceutical syntheses and other radiopharmacy duties;
    • Working under the supervision of the senior NII radiographer (as relevant). Effective supervision of staff in the NII (as relevant);
    • Administrative tasks, including developing and managing the unit’s protocols and standard operating procedures; assisting reception staff with respect to bookings and booking records; keeping detailed records of patients, imaging and financial data, and assisting in the auditing thereof;
    • Practice of strict infection control and radioprotection measures, as required;
    • Assisting in care of equipment, including management of a quality assurance programme; performing necessary QC checks and calibrations; organising a maintenance schedule; reporting faults; liaising with service staff and/or the medical physicist;
    • Assisting with general day-to-day operations of the NII. Effective interaction with other members of the NII team; NII clients; research participants; and clinical patients;
    • Facilitating research at the NII, including assisting researchers in the development and implementation of PET/CT acquisition protocols; advising on optimal scan preparation of research participants; implementation of activities required by research protocols;
    • Supervising and training staff and students at the NII;
    • Interacting with staff of the adjoining Western Cape Academic PET-CT Centre as necessary;
    • Contributing towards clinical service provision by the Tygerberg Hospital Division of Nuclear Medicine;
    • Reporting to the senior nuclear medicine radiographer (if relevant); reporting to the Director of the NII.

     
    Job Requirements    

    • Registration as a nuclear medicine radiographer with the Health Professions Council of South Africa;
    • Appropriate professional qualification(s);
    • Experience working as a radiographer in a PET-CT centre;
    • Ability and willingness to adapt to the evolving needs of a new position;
    • Meet physical demands of the position: ability to stand and walk; bend and stretch; assist patients to and from chairs and trolleys; handle heavy equipment and accessories;
    • Accurate colour vision and good hearing;
    • Professional conduct, excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills.
