• Due to continued business growth and increasing client demand in response to the urgent need to decarbonise the economies of South Africa and other African countries, Arup is seeking a Senior Engineer to support the delivery of energy projects. 
• Supporting the further growth, development and service delivery of the energy consulting team, with a focus on multi-disciplinary aspects of our projects, but also business development and project management (leading our internal teams) on PV, wind, battery storage, green hydrogen, energy transition and mini/micro- grid projects. Focus on grid-connections and large-project context, structure and role-players are important. Financial acumen, with respect to energy projects and project finance is required. Knowledge of industrial processes as well as technologies for decarbonising those processes will be a distinct advantage.
• Business development, client-facing, team leadership, technical skills, written skills, people skills and contractual skills are all of importance. Knowledge of project planning and management, feasibility studies, concept design development and preparation of technical specifications and tender documentation - with a particular focus on photovoltaic, wind, storage, minigrids/micro-grids and grid systems will be an advantage.

• B.Eng. or BSc. in Electrical engineering, preferably with a further qualification in renewable energy and professional registration with ECSA.
• Recognisable knowledge relevant in the energy sector with specific exposure to the renewable energy and decarbonisation.
• Project Management and support to lead and deliver technical advisory, owner’s engineer and design services within the renewable energy sector for clients.
• Preparing and delivery of bids and proposals and writing technical reports & presentations, checking and reviewing reports, drawings and presentations by others.
• Driving the development of more junior energy team members across Arup South Africa offices, via mentoring and provision of technical and commercial guidance.

• BSc or BEng in Electrical Engineering or similar.  Professionally registered requirement with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) for Senior applications.

Renewable Energy Skills:

•  Recognisable knowledge relevant in the energy sector with specific exposure to renewable energy
•  Experience with detailed design of energy systems and Owner’s Engineer experience will be advantageous

Transmission Skills:

• Background in the design and delivery of EHV and HV (765kV or 400kV - 132kV) Substations, Primary or Secondary Plant along with skills in analysis of these networks for AIS and GIS substations.
• Experience in Client/project management in the capacity of a technical lead on project required for senior applicants 
• Hands-on knowledge of substation design software such as: CDEGS and others

• Our South Africa team is currently looking for an experienced Senior Bulk Water Engineer with a focus on the design of pipelines and associated infrastructure.

• Our South Africa team is currently looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer experienced on water projects to join our dynamic team working on innovative and exciting infrastructure projects in South Africa and globally.
• As a key member of our team, you will provide technical support for feasibility studies, investigations, and project inputs, as well as answer technical queries and contribute to holistic solution designs. • We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer/Technologist – Building Services to join our team in either Johannesburg, Durban or Cape Town office.
• Working very closely with colleagues and clients, you will be accountable for interpreting the client brief and developing designs at all stages from scheme through to detail, construction monitoring, commissioning and close out.  Acting freely to investigate solutions, you will explore options, work closely with external collaborators, and lead a team to develop and convey design solutions.
