    Digital Content Producer

    Description

    • The incumbent would be required to ensure all technical aspects of the bulletin are met. To assist with producing creative and compelling content for Digital.

    SNG Engineer

    Description

    The incumbent will be responsible for operating the SNG Uplink Vehicle or Flyaway Uplink on a day to day basis, maintain the uplink equipment and ensure general organisation of SNG Vehicles and assigned equipment for the Group.

    SNG Uplink Management

    • Operate and Manage the SNG uplink during outside broadcasts, following strict satellite transmission standards and guidelines imposed by satellite service providers.
    • Ensure the correct audio and video parameters are used and adhered to, as required for broadcast by the Group.
    • Manage the SNG department stock, equipment and consumables and report damage, faulty or lost equipment to the line manager.
    • Provide technical input and advice for broadcast planning of news events or execute unplanned breaking news events where forward planning is not possible.
    • React immediately to breaking news: serve as the primary newsgathering resource point person for coordinating transmission.
    • Informed and up-to-date on news events is highly preferable.
    • Demonstrate vast knowledge of Satellite News Gathering and understand the key role players involved in the broadcasting workflow.
    • Must have vast understanding and experience of Satellite acquisition using a Spectrum Analyser and Antenna Controller.
    • Must have adequate knowledge of Video Encoders/Receivers, Video Routers, Basic Video Switchers, High Power Amplifiers, Audio Mixing Equipment and Satellite Antenna Functionality.
    • Ensure the SNG Uplink is set up and tested timeously for live events.
    • Make sure the required video and audio signals, either from a camera or pool feed is configured correctly as per the Audio/Video parameters set by the Group.
    • Assume the role of Technical Director and Vision Controller for live broadcasts when these roles are not assigned to other staff members.
    • Knowledge of camera angles, exposure, lighting, sound and camera positioning is important.
    • Flagging any possible technical problems timeously and reporting them to the line manager or producer prior to or during a live broadcast.

    Maintenance

    • Maintaining the SNG Vehicles and Flyaway Uplinks by ensuring that the necessary vehicle service checks have been performed and faults reported, to ensure that the vehicles are in a working, safe and reliable condition.
    • Performing monthly equipment list checks to make sure all the assigned equipment is accounted for.
    • Performing daily equipment checks before and after a production, clearing of assigned equipment, reporting equipment faults to the Group Engineering Department and following up on repairs.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Electronics - Recommended

    Experience

    • 5 years' experience in SNG Engineering within the Media and/or Broadcast Industry - Essential

    Supervisor: Marketing Intelligence

    Description

    The incumbent would be required to oversee the team of Marketing Intelligence Specialists who are responsible for supporting the sales teams by arming with media consumption information and facts and providing go to market presentations for them to go out and sell airtime.

    Monitor Marketing Intelligence

    • Supply competitor information, media landscape, audience insights, and brand insights information to Sales Department and to relevant internal stakeholders in order to retain and grow business.
    • Compile and submit reports to the Chief Commercial Officer, Group Head of Sales and other reports that may be required from time to time.
    • Proactively identify trends that may affect current or potential revenue streams across channels.
    • Prepare and submit media landscape updates to relevant internal stakeholders.
    • Determine market trends and analysis.
    • Provide input to marketing strategy.

    Client Liaison 

    • Managing Account Executive (AE) and client/agency relationships to build respect and trust in your judgment.
    • Attending client/agency meetings, with AE’s.
    • Attending external meetings such as BRC, Telmar, and The Nielsen Company.
