    Frontend Engineer, Defend

    The Defend Team is responsible for the defend features in the GitLab platform, and maps to the defend stage. You can learn more about our approach on the vision for defend . The features provided by the Defend Team are mostly present at the deployment level.

    This team focuses on security defend features for GitLab (including web application firewall, threat detection, container security, network security, and vulnerability management).

    What you can expect in a Frontend Engineer role at GitLab:

    • You'll help improve the overall experience of our product through improving the quality of the Frontend features
    • You’ll help identify areas of improvements in the code-base and help contribute to make it better
    • You’ll work alongside the UX team, the Backend Engineering team and Product Managers to iterate on new features within the GitLab product.
    • You’ll learn, collaborate and teach other Frontend Engineers. Everyone can contribute something new to the team regardless of how long they’ve been in the industry.
    • You’ll fix prioritized issues from the issue tracker. These are typically bugs listed in a GitLab issue with an attached severity and priority label.
    • You'll write high-quality code to complete scheduled direction issues assigned by your frontend engineering manager.
    • You’ll contribute to and follow our workflow process, alongside the rest of the Frontend team and the GitLab community as a whole.

    You Should Apply If

    • You have prior experience building Frontend web applications
    • Professional experience with VueJS or another modern JavaScript web framework (React, Angular, Ember, etc)
    • You have a solid understanding in core web and browser concepts (eg. how does JavaScript handle asynchronous code)
    • You have working knowledge of when and how to make your code scale effectively
    • You are proactive in taking ownership of tasks and take them to completion
    • You desire to learn and continually give and receive feedback effectively
    • You have a solid understanding of CSS , semantic HTML and core JavaScript concepts .

    Revenue Manager


    The Revenue Manager is responsible for all day-to-day revenue accounting operations and month-end financial reporting requirements while ensuring compliance with revenue recognition policies, procedures and internal controls. The Revenue Manager will report to the Controller and will help drive process improvement projects as Gitlab continues to grow.

    Responsibilities

    • Review and summarize customer contracts for proper revenue recognition in accordance with company policy and revenue recognition accounting standards.
    • Partner with Legal department and business teams to interpret complex or unique contract provisions or new revenue initiatives. Research and document accounting issues and recommend solutions for complex transactions as needed.
    • Key contributor in the monthly financial close, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions and the completeness of financial statements.
    • Work closely and help manage transactions with the billing and deal desk teams
    • Prepare monthly account reconciliations, entries and contribute to the financial reporting process
    • Develop and document processes and controls, and identify opportunities for streamlining processes and increasing automation to improve the speed and efficiency of the monthly revenue close
    • Support external and internal audit requirements
    • Work as liaison with project teams to develop or improve finance solutions, including the design, implementation and review of systems
    • Assist with and manage various ad hoc projects as needed

    Requirements

    • 2+ years experience in revenue accounting with a Big 4 accounting firm or SaaS company
    • Experience in applying revenue accounting guidance (ASC 606). Strong knowledge of US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, risk and controls standards and business process best practices skills
    • Experience managing critical projects such as system implementations, ERP system enhancements, and system upgrades.
    • Strong understanding of process and operations in a fast-paced business environment.
    • Ability to work dynamically with a variety of internal business partners (financial and non-financial personnel both within the US and abroad).
    • Be a self-starter, have a positive attitude, maintain a solution-oriented work ethic.
    • Zuora, RevPro, Netsuite system knowledge
