    Scrum Master

    Job Description

    • Analyses past, present and future business environment.
    • Works closely with systems analyst and project manager to design and implement solutions.
    • Tests systems and user acceptance and implements changes or new applications.
    • Ensures all testing protocols are adhered to.
    • Investigates and defines requirements for business processes.
    • Analyses business processes to determine problems, risks and opportunities for improvement.
    • Contributes in sessions for end-users, including training.
    • Provides input to the documentation of requirements including data modelling, interface layouts, data flows, screen and report layouts, etc.
    • Contributes to the design of new business processes.
    • Contributes to strategies and guidelines to improve the business environment.

    Actuarial Supervisor

    A key focus will be to provide senior management with insights into the financial results for MFC. The candidate will be responsible for producing monthly financial results, reporting valuation results and producing forecasts. The candidate will provide insights through analyzing the financial results and comparing to forecast, highlighting the key drivers of results and deviations to forecast. Having oversight of the financial reporting landscape for MFC puts the candidate in an ideal position to provide senior management with the information they need to drive the strategic direction of MFC.

    The individual will partner with the internal MFC Valuations, MFC Finance, Actuarial Business Partner and Distribution Economics teams including Group Finance, Office of the Chief Actuary and Old Mutual Investment Group externally, to provide senior stakeholders with appropriate analysis and insights to drive decision making that helps achieve the MFC strategy.

    Requirements

    • Qualified actuary or actuarial student with minimum 11 actuarial exams
    • At least 4 years actuarial experience
    • Strong technical skills
    • Strong detail orientation coupled with the ability to see the “big picture”
    • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
    • Motivated self-starter who shows initiative, is proactive, looks for ways to improve
    • Able to complete tasks within agreed timelines and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance
    • Interest in financial modelling software
    • Ability to plan and prioritise
    • Willing to learn and grow
    • High level of accountability

    The incumbent will have an added advantage if he/she has the set skills listed below

    • Knowledge of the Mass and Foundation Cluster environment, products and systems would be advantageous
    • Financial reporting and/or valuation experience would be advantageous

    Responsibilities

    • Monthly Reporting – Produce and analyse financial results for MFC on monthly basis. Analyse key drivers of financial results and deviations from forecasts. Present results to senior stakeholders in MFC.
    • Financial Reporting - Consolidation and submission of valuation results (IFRS and MCEV). Presenting results to senior stakeholders.
    • Business Planning / Forecasting – Produce the business plan and other forecasts to estimate future financial impacts for MFC.
    • Capital management – Produce/provide support for producing capital calculations accurately and on time.
    • Continuous Improvements – Enhancements of models and processes.
    • Projects - Support the delivery of project objectives e.g. IFRS17 implementation.

    This role is responsible for delivery of a variety of IT services to support business objectives and is individually accountable for achieving results through other managers and their teams.

    Key Result Areas

    Budget Control

    • Responsible for the financial management of the area, including budget and expense monitoring.

    IT Service Delivery Management

    • Ensures continuous service and systems security.
    • Oversees the functional unit and is accountable for the efficient operation of the area.
    • Provides operational and tactical focus for IT resources.
    • Responsible for aligning technology and technology support to business needs.

    Management Effectiveness

    • Contributes to communication and change management within line structures.
    • Develops MOs and specialists under supervision.

    Requirements: Skills, Qualifications and Experience required

    • Matric plus relevant 3 year degree/diploma
    • 7 + years relevant IT work experience
    • Must have management experience in an IT application environment: Team Management or Project Management
    • Must have SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) Knowledge and Experience

    OR

    • Must have either Software Development or Business Analysis background

    AND

    • Must have IT Demand Management and IT Delivery Management experience
    • Financial management experience is essential
    • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills
    • Adequate stakeholder management experience up to executive level

    Salary Financial Adviser-2

    The position has been identified as a FAIS position and falls within the ambit contemplated by FAIS related to Category B.
