SA Retail Mass cluster offers a unique opportunity for young, enthusiastic and energetic persons from the designated groups to gain practical working experience in a corporate environment. The learnership programme is aimed at matriculants and offers:

Who are we?
Sanlam Group Technology is responsible for the provision of a digitally enabled technology service as a group COE, drive business and transformation and provide group-wide digital and data architecture. We operate the various technology platforms and shared services, ensure Cyber and Information Security resilience, and act as technology governance and risk orchestrator for technology across Sanlam.
What will you do?
Responsible for providing specialist, high-level technical advice and support for the installing, testing, tuning, optimising, diagnosing problems, repairing, upgrading and maintaining both externally and internally supplied hardware and system software such as operation systems, data management products, office automation products, embedded systems, and other utility enabling software and related equipment. Develops project plans for the implementation of new hardware and systems software systems. Directs technical analysis of complex system software, hardware and related products. Maintains liaison with vendors and repair personnel to obtain required service. Responsible for high-level problem resolution and system security policy implementation and monitoring.
Qualification
Grade 12 or relevant IT Degree or Diploma
Experience
Minimum of 5 years’ experience within application development
Experience in System Analysis (advantageous)
Financial product knowledge (advantageous)
Knowledge of Identity and Access Management systems (advantageous)
Experience in writing web services (SOAP/XML) and (REST/JSON)
Experience in Web development (Javascript, PHP, CSS, HTML)
Understanding of the SDLC Methodology
Relevant program languages
Problem Analysis and Problem Solving Techniques
Impact Analysis Techniques
Documentation Frameworks, Tools and Standards
Understanding of Project Management Principles

What will make you successful in this role?
Provide recommendations and cost or man-day estimates for implementing changes.
Maintain existing systems according to change requests.
Produce appropriate software programs that satisfy the specification requirements.
Test own programs and artefacts to ensure correctness.
Debugging of programs.
Provide test information to Testers.
Provide progress to the project manager or team lead.
Assist with the implementation of changes into the Production environment.
Update documentation to align with any application changes and implementations.
Problem solving and performing root cause analysis of any errors in system
Technical support or assistance to others on own programs or systems.
Mentorship of junior team members.
Quality Assurance of junior team members’ code.
Provide standby and support when required.
Provide system application and performance benchmarking information on request.
Implement updates and releases of 3rd party software packages.

Division
One of the largest businesses within the Sanlam Group, Sanlam Corporate (SC) specialises in the provision of risk, investment and administration services to institutions and retirement funds. Focused on meeting the unique needs of its diverse clients, SC assists companies in creating and delivering customised employee benefits solutions, including the collection of premiums and communication to fund members.
The overall purpose of the role
Timeous uploading of member data onto the core system and ensuring all members contributing towards the scheme qualify to be a member of the scheme. Ensuring all premiums are allocated and verified, commission payments are made and terminations are attended to timeously. Complete work within SLA and handle client queries efficiently and effectively
Key Responsibilities
General Administration of Group Life schemes
Capturing and reconciliation of premiums
Calculation and payouts of commission
Administration - conversion options
Annual cost calculations
Administration of Medical requirements
Qualification and Experience
Matric with a C- symbol in either Mathematics or Accounting essential
At least 2 - 3 years knowledge of the Group Risk business relating to premium administration; member management and medical underwriting processes.
Strong numerical and analytical ability
Knowledge and Skills
Sound Knowledge of products, processes and services in the Group Risk environment
Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
Understanding of rules and policy regulations with regards to schemes/funds
Advanced excel skills is a requirement
Experience on MIP workflow system will be advantageous
