    Graphic Designer

    About the Job
    This role involves working across the Visual Merchandising and Marketing team on a variety of different design activities.

    Main responsibilities:

    • Involved in the brainstorming and creation of digital assets such as emailers, social media, website assets and digital ads.
    • Thinking creatively to produce new ideas for installations, in-store signage, logo design, brochures, EDM layout design and highlighted installations, which are in line with each season’s concepts.  Using innovation to redefine a design brief within the constraints of cost and time.
    • Taking briefs from the buying team to design product packaging as and when required.
    • Providing visual communication to store visual merchandisers on in-store executions and concepts.

    Skills Required:

    • A 3-4 year degree/diploma in Visual Communication/Graphic Design is pre-requisite as well as excellent technical knowledge of Adobe Suite design software.
    • A minimum 3 – 4 years graphic design experience.
    • Below the line and branding experience.
    • Home and décor brand experience will be a plus, but not limited to it.

    Incumbent must demonstrate a passion for interior décor & design; will be creative & passionate about the Weylandts brand, eager to use their skills to maximise the brand look and sales potential. Creative flair, originality and strong visual sense as well as a keen interest in keeping up to date with new developments in the design/retail industry is essential.

    Competencies:

    • The job holder must be able to demonstrate positive hands on, can-do attitude. He or she must be able to work independently, yet be a team player. They must be positive, energetic, a self-starter and have excellent problem solving and decision-making skills. Being able to work well under pressure, meet tight deadlines and producing a high quality of work is pre-requisite.

    Visual Merchandiser

    About the Job
    Job Purpose:

    • The main responsibility of this position is to ensure that the Weylandts shopping experience is further enhanced by maintaining an organized, visually appealing and welcoming store environment.  
    • Reporting to the Showroom manager and or Senior Visual Merchandiser when required, whilst getting direction from the Head office Visual Merchandising team.

    Main accountabilities:

    • Consistently achieve the ongoing installation and dressing of the required merchandising plan within the prescribed time frame which will involve working with the basement team and will include some lifting, carrying etc
    • Ensure that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in store, working with store manager and other store employees. Doing floor walks 3 times a day.
    • Merchandising monthly promotional settings according to the company’s design directives.
    • Ensure a high standard of visual merchandising in line with the company’s vision and brand identity in the respective store.
    • Ensure aggressive replenishment of homeware/ furniture. Constantly checking stock levels of homeware in cage and not on the shop floor to ensure items are urgently replaced
    • Ensure required photos of shelving/settings are sent timeously and without exception to the merchandising department.
    • Ensure ongoing maintaining/updating of the furniture display settings and homeware shelving/tables as per last floor/setting changes and/or directives from Head office. This requires regular communication with the Head Office VM team.
    • Assist customers and maintain a professional approach, selling when required.
    • Work as a member of the store team assisting colleagues whenever you have opportunity and available time to do so.
    • Ordering the correct flowers and plants for the store(s) timeously, and within the set budget.
    • Be involved in Homeware stock takes if required.
    • Be aware of new product arrivals and lines to be discontinued and plan for this in advance with Head office. Maintain superior product knowledge.
    • Assisting in receiving, unpacking and checking in of homeware when relevant basement team member not available or high stock volumes are received. 

    Technical competencies:

    • This position requires education to at least Matric level (ideally post Matric diploma in Interior decorating field) along with a minimum of 1 – 2 years’ experience in a similar role and environment/brand. The Visual Merchandiser is an integral part of the company’s overall performance; in terms of image, the shopping experience, perception and brand equity.

    Must have a valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.

    Junior Interior Designer

    About the Job
    Job purpose & Scope:

    • This role will be to assist the Interior Designers on a project through all steps from client brief, concept development, material sourcing and selection, compiling technical drawing pack, final client presentations, and site installation.  This role will report to the Interior Designer.

    Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with the Spaces Team and when needed with the Business Development Consultant to create concept and storyboards for upcoming projects.
    • Development of design and develop it to reality through production of floorplans and internal spatial layouts. Coordinate fabric and finishes presentations; Execute and manage furniture drawings, bespoke product with sufficient technical details for
    • Oversee and manage manufacturing and installations of all bespoke designs with regular supplier visits.
    • Provide quality control over concepts and projects.
    • On-going research and filtering of trends, building up a database of ideas and solutions that benefit the Weylandts Spaces brand
    • Assist with various visual presentations as requested. This will include designing floor plans and settings, pulling together product and pricing data and working closely with the responsible Interior designer to ensure professional and accurate presentation material.

    Experience:

    • A diploma in Interior Design is a prerequisite
    • Technical knowledge of design software, e.g. AutoCAD, SketchUP (or similar 3D software), Revit and as well as Adobe
    • Comprehensive MS Office skills
    • A valid driver’s license

    Personal skills and attributes:

    • Demonstrates a positive hands-on can-do attitude
    • Able to work independently, yet be a team player
    • Must be positive, energetic, a self-starter with excellent problem solving and (decision making skills.
