    Senior Lecturer / Lecturer - (1893)

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key responsibility areas:

    • Teaching and learning at an undergraduate and postgraduate diploma level.
    • Supervision of Masters level research if he/she holds a PhD.
    • Participate in research programmes,
    • Develop industry and academic partnerships. 
    • Engage in community outreach. 
    • Responsible for administrative duties within the department, faculty and the university.

    Minimum Requirements

    At the level of Senior Lecturer

    • PhD in Nursing 
    • Master’s degree in in Nursing or a Master's in a related Health discipline.
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse / Midwife / Community Health Nurse/Psychiatric Nurse.
    • Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. 
    • Postgraduate research supervision experience.
    • Evidence of peer reviewed publications.
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nurse Educator.

    At the level of Lecturer

    • Master's in Nursing or a Master's in a related Health discipline.
    • Experience in teaching.
    • Evidence of publication output.
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse / Midwife / Community Health Nurse/Psychiatric Nurse.
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nurse Educator.

    An added advantage:

    • The ideal candidate for the post as lecturer in this position should be a highly-motivated person progressing or registered for a PhD in Nursing (lecturer).
    • Experience in clinical supervision (lecturer).
    • An additional qualification in a clinical speciality and/or Health Services Management for both senior lecturer and lecturer.

    Professor / Associate Professor

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

    • Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the School of Nursing.
    • Conduct research and publish in the field of nursing or health related matters.
    • Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision.
    • Undertake curriculum development and assessment.
    • Undertake community engagement and outreach.
    • Provide academic leadership and administration.
    • Manage a Division in the School.
    • Responsible for securing funding or third-stream income.

    Minimum Requirements

    At the level of Professor

    • PhD or equivalent, preferably in the field of Nursing.
    • Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching, preferably in the field of nursing or health related matters.
    • A track record of quality peer reviewed publications, preferably in the field of nursing or health related matters.
    • A track record of successful postgraduate supervision.
    • Evidence of expertise, national standing, and definite international presence in his/her discipline.
    • Experience in generating research grants.
    • More than five (5) years’ experience in a higher education institution and evidence of leadership experience.
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse / Midwife / Community Health Nurse / Psychiatric Nurse.
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Educator.

    At the level of Associate Professor

    • PHD or equivalent, preferably in the field of Nursing.
    • Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning, preferably in the field of nursing or health related matters.
    • A track record of quality peer reviewed publications, preferably in the field of nursing or health related matters.
    • A record of successful postgraduate supervision.
    • Evidence of expertise, national standing, and where appropriate, an international presence in his/her discipline.
    • At least five (5) years’ experience in a higher education institution.
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse / Midwife / Community Health Nurse / Psychiatric Nurse.
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Educator.

    Added advantage

    • NRF rating.
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as an Advanced Mental Health Nurse or Advanced Midwife and /or
    • Health Services Manager or Primary Care Nurse.

    Lecturer Community & Health Sciences -> School of Nursing

    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Assessor and Moderator.

    • The ideal candidate for this post as lecturer should be a highly-motivated person progressing or registered for a PhD in Nursing.

    Lecturer - Community & Health Sciences -> Physiotherapy

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key responsibility areas:

    • Teaching of undergraduate Neurology modules, and any other undergraduate modules as per the requirements of the Department. 
    • Involvement in clinical supervision in their area of specialisation as well as general supervision.
    • Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research. 
    • Engaging in community outreach. 
    • Initiating and participating in research programmes.
    • Take responsibility for administrative duties within the department, faculty and the university.
    • Developing industry and academic partnerships. 

    Minimum Requirements

    • Master's in Physiotherapy or a Master's in a related Health discipline.
    • A minimum of three years of experience in teaching. 
    • Experience in teaching undergraduate Neurology.
    • Experience in clinical supervision.
    • Evidence of publication output.
    • Registration with the Health Professional’s Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Physiotherapist (Independent Practice Category). 

    Added advantages:

    The ideal candidate for this position should:

    • Registered for a PhD or progressing towards obtaining a PhD. 
    • Have experience in supervision of Masters level research. 
    • Be proficient in at least two South African languages.
    • Have a valid driver’s license. 
    • Provide evidence of self-initiated research.

    Lecturer - (1939)

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:

    • The candidate’s teaching responsibility will include teaching specifically in the field of Neurology and Occupational Therapy Practice.
    • Involvement in general clinical supervision.
    • Supervision of final year level research projects.
    • Participation in research programmes, curriculum development and staff development.
    • Developing industry and academic partnerships.
    • Engaging in community engagement related activities.
    • Responsible for administrative duties within the department, faculty and the university.

    Minimum Requirements

    • A Masters degree in Occupational Therapy or related fields.
    • Registration with the HPCSA as an Occupational Therapist (Independent Practice Category).
    • Experience in teaching and clinical supervision.
    • Evidence of research output in the form of a research publication (s) in accredited journals.  

    Added advantages

    • The ideal candidate for this position should be a highly-motivated person registered or progressing towards the completion of a PhD.
    • Completion of any post graduate certification related to the Occupational Therapy Management of Neurological conditions.
    • Proficiency in two or more South African languages.
    • Experience in research supervision.
    • A valid driver’s licence.
    • Evidence of contextual sensitivity and community engagement.
