    Principal/Senior Systems Engineer

    • Formulate strategy, implementation and optimisation;
    • Lead the research, design, development and testing of complex EW systems;
    • Lead EW technology development projects and EW research and development efforts;
    • Work closely with the EW Area Manager to provide inputs to the innovation and technology strategies for the EW Area;
    • Execute system project plans;
    • Interface to clients in his/her direct environment;
    • Interpret client requirements and compile user requirements specifications (URS);
    • Interpret URS requirements and compile system requirements specifications;
    • Conduct design reviews of EW systems (hardware and software);
    • Demonstrate solution design traceability of solution implementation;
    • Assist with requirements definition, concepts of operations, and conceptualisation of the optimum solutions;
    • Apply the appropriate SE know-how, at the correct life-cycle stage and system hierarchal level to comply with higher-level project requirements;
    • Assists in technology audits through the development life;
    • Play a leading role in Human Capital Development (HCD), especially transferring EW applications knowledge to junior engineers;
    • Have specialist EW domain knowledge with in-depth knowledge in one or more of the following fields, RF Circuits and Systems, High-Speed Digital Hardware, Firmware and Embedded Design, Software Programming and Signal Processing.
       

    Qualifications, Skills And Experience

    • A Bachelor of Engineering in electronics with at least eight years engineering experience, of which five years’ should be in design and development;
    • A Masters degree in engineering will be an advantage;
    • Working experience in signal analysis and/or system analysis;
    • Knowledge of the following is essential:
    • Radar and EW signal processing and applications;
    • Antennas, Radio Frequency (RF) systems, Electromagnetic Theory and Propagation models;
    • Electronic hardware and software implementation;
    • Knowledge of the following will be advantageous:
    • Digital Radio Frequency Memories (DRFMs) and their application areas;
    • Hardware-In-The-Loop Environment Simulator Systems and their applications;
    • Strong analytical skills including a good mathematical and statistical ability;
    • An enthusiastic, self-motivated and a self-starter;
    • Good communication, interpersonal and writing skills;
    • Decisive;
    • Ability to work under pressure and a team player;
    • Project management exposure will be an advantage;
    • Willingness to mentor juniors and transfer knowledge;
    • Open to performing business development and client liaison.

    Senior Mechanical Maintenance Technician

    • Execute preventative and corrective maintenance tasks, on the electro-mechanical and mechanical plant in the wind tunnel facilities, typically electric motors, rotary screw air compressors, centrifugal air compressors, regenerative desiccant air dryer systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, pressure vessels, pneumatically and electrically activated valves and positioners, and evaporative cooling towers;
    • Plan, schedule, execute, fill-in and return time-based written preventative maintenance orders;
    • Assist in the calibration of field instrumentation in the wind tunnel facilities;
    • Perform pre-operations for ready-to-start on specified production wind tunnel facilities;
    • Operate the specified wind tunnel facilities in the role of Tunnel Operator during a wind tunnel test campaign;
    • Manage, maintain and operate machine shop equipment, typically lathes and milling machines as well as cutting, drilling, grinding, bending and welding machines.
       

    Qualifications, Skills And Experience

    • A Trade Certificate in fitting and turning, mechanical fitter or millwright with at least five years’ experience in industrial plant and machine systems maintenance and installation, of which two years’ should be in plant operation;
    • A Technical diploma or any additional qualifications in hydraulic and pneumatic systems will be advantageous;
    • Experience in verhead crane and lifting equipment operator is required;
    • Specific knowledge of wind tunnel plants will be advantageous;
    • The following skills are required:
    • Conventional machining and welding;
    • Computer literacy;
    • Specific knowledge of machines and systems in use in the wind tunnel such as mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic machines.

    Event Coordinator

    • Identify opportunities and improve the sales of CSIR ICC;
    • Optimize the booking of the CSIR ICC venues to ensure maximum client satisfaction balanced with maximum occupancy;
    • Maintain the reservations office standards, systems and procedures and ensure that all event and billing information is correct to minimize risk and maximize sales;
    • Plan and organize events and customer service;
    • Ensure all of the reservations office actions and responsibilities (tasks carried out) comply with legislation and CSIR policies and procedures (PPPFA, liquor laws, Safety Laws, consumer protection Act, OHSAS 18001, ISO14001, ISO 9001:2008);
    • Ensure the information in the Centre’s management information system (Rendezvous) is correct and updated at all times; and
    • Ensure all activities and interactions carried out by the reservations office support a positive and professional market image of the CSIR ICC
       

    Qualifications, Skills And Experience

    • A matric certificate with at least two years’ experience in sales, convention centre, organising conference and or hospitality industry;
    • Tertiary qualification in either marketing, public relations, hospitality, communication or event management will be an added advantage
    • Possession of certified meeting professional (CMP) will be an added advantage
    • Interpersonal skills;
    • Computer literacy (MS Office and Rendezvous);
    • Language proficiency (English spoken and written);
    • Ability to pay attention to detail;
    • Ability to work under pressure;
    • Problem solving skills
    • Customer focussed and service orientation
