    Statutory To Tax Leader

    Job Description Summary

    • This role will work directly with the regional SSA Statutory & Controllership teams to prepare and file the statutory financial statements to support the annual tax returns filed with the local authorities following the rigorous project planning, execution & debrief process. Your Scope will mainly focus on South Africa and Angola.

    Job Description
    Essential Responsibilities

    •  Obtain, interpret and provide country requirements relating to statutory accounting and reporting to business finance managers.
    •  Hold planning meetings with the statutory auditors to agree on the audit approach, fees, schedule audit calendar and the prepared by client list.
    •  Hold planning meetings with the internal process stakeholders (business finance managers/controllers & tax directors/controllers) to agree on the audit requirements and key hand over dates.
    •  Compile and communicate the statutory and tax required documentation & information that is required to support the local statutory & tax filing to all the process stakeholders.
    •  Review & sign-off on required documentation & information provided by business finance teams.
    •  Perform US GAAP to local GAAP (G2S) reconciliation for all business management entities reported under the legal entity in the Statutory and Tax Information Reporting tool (STIR).
    •  Report out the G2S findings to the Statutory Controllership Leader, Business Finance Managers, Business Tax Controllers and Business Controllers.
    •  Prepare the entity level and management entity financial statements in compliance with the local reporting requirements.
    •  Manage statutory audit field work and monitor the execution in accordance with the agreed audit calendar.
    •  File the Statutory financial statements in accordance with the local requirements
    •  Attend operational pulsing meetings throughout the entire process to update all the process stakeholders on milestones achieved, challenges and next steps.
    •  Perform the annual reconciliations between the VAT and statutory sales for the legal entity & management entities and identify the corrective actions.
    •  Hold de-brief meetings with all the statutory & tax process stakeholders and identify process improvement areas as well as any corrective actions for future filing periods.
    •  Ownership of e-Compliance obligations for the entities and responsibility for ensuring eCompliance is accurate and up-to-date.

    Qualifications/Requirements

    •  College degree business, finance or accounting
    •  Qualified Chartered Accountant
    •  5+ years of experience with Stat to GAAP, Statutory/Tax filings, analyzing data preferably at Big4 or at companies using long term contracts.
    •  Excellent knowledge of country requirements relating to statutory accounting and reporting & extensive experience in reporting under Local GAAP.
    •  Working knowledge of US GAAP requirements & excellent Knowledge of IFRS.
    •  Ability to identify areas which are subject to G2S differences and apply them on a US GAAP Trial Balance and documents supporting the preparation of the Statutory Trial Balance under the local jurisdiction
    •  Comprehensive understanding on the local documentation requirements.
    •  Strong interpersonal and communication skills - report out the key achievements, challenges and next steps on a weekly basis to the regional leadership team
    •  Self-starter with a commitment to meet deadlines - strong engagement to perform activities identified in the project plan and lead to completion on time and meet the Key Milestone deadlines of the project
    •  Strong attention to details, experience with data analytics
    •  Identify risk areas which can impact the timely and accurate completion of the key milestones and use the appropriate communication channels provided by the project framework to escalate issues
    •  Escalate issues on a timely manner using the Stat and Tax Compliance tracker
    •  Experience with ERP and reporting systems

    SSA Regional Pricing

    Job Description

    Role Summary/Purpose:

    • The Regional Pricing & Forecasting Leader for Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) will support the Commercial & Sales teams in Power Services (PS) with the development & implementation of effective pricing & customer strategies to increase market share and contribution margin.  
    • You will support the region understand customer dynamics & competitor landscape and will be responsible for driving the strategy around pricing and competitive intelligence for outage services, parts, repairs, Performance Services (upgrades), and multi-year Service Agreements (CSAs)

     

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • The Regional Pricing Leader will work with Sales, Comm. Ops, Services, and Engineering to understand and apply technological & local market dynamics as they relate to customer specific business models and GE solutions. You will own the pricing strategy creation & implementation for transactional and contractual bids to support the regional teams in market & competitive analysis that help shape commercial offerings and recommendations.

    In addition, you will:

    • Serve as a pricing expert to the Power Services business and enable effective pricing strategies by working closely with the Global Pricing & Marketing team and Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) Commercial and Services teams to understand customer segmentation, competitive position and target value propositions.
    • Lead competitive intelligence & Win/Loss analysis efforts and knowledge sharing to provide the leadership team with market insights used to develop strategy and tactical direction, NPI development and Blueprint efforts.
    • Win Rates & Business case: identify root causes for under-performing product segments, and design a business case to recover market share.
    • Be the Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) pricing delegation of authority (DOA) owner; develop DOA based on targets and establish thresholds for deal approvals, support & enabling a process for Deal Reviews and visibility to management; have approval responsibility on all opportunities as per DOA.
    • Lead and manage the process of collecting and analyzing market pricing information, including win/loss data and competitor pricing intelligence.
    • Partner with global marketing and product management to understand competitive position, region dynamics and customer value.
    • Train the Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) commercial and sales teams on pricing and commercial tools, processes and competitive intelligence to ensure consistent pricing processes, tools and analytics across the region to improve market share and contribution margin.
    • Evaluate existing pricing behavior and practices through both quantitative and qualitative measures, including the development of pricing metrics and business intelligence
    • Drive customer value pricing based on economic modeling resulting in margin and SAS expansion.

     

    Qualifications/Requirements: 

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college

    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in competitor/market intelligence/commercial function

    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Power industry

    • Proficient use of Microsoft Office (eg. Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

    • Ability to synthesize marketing and pricing information to draw insights and actionable recommendations (e.g., structure the problem, collect data, identify issues, and present results)

    Lead Business Development Specialist

    Job Description

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Lead GE Power Aeroderivatives New Units Business Development across Sub-Sahara Africa region;

    • Monitor and analyze market and competitor activities impacting the penetration of Aeroderivative gas turbines; continuously update the business on all regional dynamics;

    • Develop and implement effective market and transactional strategies in line with the business objectives targeted at building the Aeroderivatives deal pipeline across the SSA region;

    • Develop and implement demand creation strategies targeted at growing the new units deal pipeline for the Aeroderivative gas turbines and drive orders in collaboration with the sub-regional sales team;

    Required Qualifications

    Principal Engineer

    Job Description

    Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

    This position is for a Principal Consultant – specialized in Power System Analysis and Planning with emphasis on Renewables.

     

    The desired Consultant will be involved in:

    • Technical advisory services for projects under development, construction and operation which may include but not limited to technical due diligences, electrical network modelling and study, assessment of electrical system operation performances and project management.

    • Technical analysis and performance assessment of Renewable Energies

    • Identify and execute high quality power energy solutions

    • Review customer specifications and support customers in selection of grid connections and storage solution for the application.

    • Support GE business initiatives related to the systems equipment and services of the business, and provide advisory services to our industry

    • Perform power system analysis including: modeling, simulation, and evaluation of design alternatives

    • Lead the development/refinement of tools and techniques for power system simulation.

    • Proficiency in key software analytical tools, e.g. PSS/E, PowerFactory, EMTP/ATP, PSCAD, PSLF, PVsyst, MATLAB, Python

    • Must be able to run these tools focused on interconnecting invertor-based technology to the grid.

    • Ability and willingness to travel a minimum of 20% of the time, as required.

    • Languages: must have excellent written and verbal communications skills, including ability to write clear and detailed technical reports, presentations and emails in English. Knowledge of other languages is preferred.

    Desired:

    • MS or PhD in electrical, mechanical or electric power engineering

    • Solid understanding of conventional power systems and equipment operation: generation, transmission, distribution and industrial

    • Experience may also include a working knowledge of Renewables related regulations, codes and standards (IEC and other relevant certifications in the Renewables industry)

    • Experience in power system operation and analysis: steady state load flow studies, short circuit analysis, transient & dynamic stability analysis, protection coordination studies, earthing design and electromagnetic transient analysis.

    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

    • Demonstrated capability to complete projects on-time and on-budget as either individual contributor or project manager

    • Proficiency with office productivity software e.g. MS Office, Visio, MS Project.

    • Ability to motivate and influence individuals and teams

    • Strong written and oral communication skills suitable for making presentations to internal and external business customers, and for supporting GE executive external communications, an additional Language (French, Arabic, Spanish, Portuguese…) is preferred.

    • Industry involvement such as IEEE / CIGRE, ASME, AWEA, PE with published papers in one or more technical societies

    • Pending or awarded patents

    • Six Sigma training is preferred (GE only)
