What will you do?
Santam SHA has an exciting full time employment opportunity for a Business Development Manager, who will report into the Underwriting Head: Digital Distribution.
The succussful incumbent will be based in Johannesburg, Illovo however it will be a combination of office based and work from home.
What will make you successful in this role?
Assist in formulating, implementing and co-ordinating the strategy to drive SHA’s VIB initiative
Develop and implement new product solutions for the target base using SHA’s pocket underwriter.
Co-ordinate and proactively search for new business opportunities
Improvement of turnaround times on renewal and new business (internal)
Provide strategic input for relevant business area if and when required.
You will be responsible for business development for a key selection of VIP Brokers.
Bring your value and knowledge to extend us into new opportunities.
Drive use of the Pocket Underwriter for new and target VIB brokers to generate their own quotes and policy documents on renewal business.
Responsible for the relationships with VIP Brokers, Referral and other business partners
Ability to think strategically and create new opportunities, as well as the operational understanding to ensure delivery on those opportunities to the benefit of SHA and the wider Santam group.
Set and drive a high performance culture.
Effective management of the business unit’s budget and its resources. Detailed understanding of the financial drivers of a business is key.
Build strategic and operational alliances with business units within SHA and the wider Santam group.
Keep all stakeholders abreast of legislative changes by regulatory bodies and the opportunities they may bring to the group..
Build relationships and develop market presence with designated key broker portfolios.
Feedback on market intelligence.
Drive visits between team and brokers to establish new relationships and maintain existing broker network.
Assist brokers in adopting SHA’s digital tools via group training and presentations.
Write articles and conduct media interviews on SHA’s digital strategy
Respond to queries and resolve to the satisfaction of the affected parties within the scope of authority and / or responsibility.
Prepare for and attend meetings with assigned key brokers.
Liaise internally with Underwriting Heads and managers to create packaged product solutions where covers and extensions fall outside the ambit of the Digital Distribution team (Pocket underwriter).
Meet budget responsibility for a book of business.
Monitor renewals lapsed policies and new business with monthly report back.
Assist Underwriting Head in preparing a budget for your relevant business area that is in line with the overall company strategy for growth and financial sustainability.
Compile monthly financial reports on the VIB brokers for distribution to the Underwriting Heads of the business
Mentor and provide technical training of current and new staff if and when required.
Qualifcation & Experience
Matric.
Appropriate tertiary qualification a preference.
Must be FAIS compliant.
Insurance related qualification or business degree will be advantageous
Minimum 5 years specialist insurance experience.
Working will be a combination of office based and work from home.

A position for a Legal Advisor exists in the Corporate Services, Legal team, based at Santam Sandton (Johannesburg) or Bellville (Cape Town) offices.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
The purpose of the role is to render legal and regulatory support and compliance solutions services to the business taking into account commercial demands.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE:
Lead the business in achieving legally and commercially sound outcomes and support business interactions with external service providers and stakeholders.
Anticipate and manage the legal risks connected with or resulting from the business strategy and operations, ensuring minimum legal exposure for the organisation.

Qualification and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and admission as an attorney.

Experience in Financial Services environment advantageous.
Experience in technical legal interpretation, application and implementation.

In-depth experience and expertise in insurance, commercial or business law (preferably mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance or banking and finance).
