    Mechanic Assistant x2

    PURPOSE

    This position exists to assist Mechanic to render an efficient service on maintenance and repairs of plant and equipment and adhering to safety aspects.

    Requirements

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist to perform planned and unplanned maintenance
    • Assist to perform breakdowns
    • Assist Mechanic to detect and diagnose faults in engines and parts
    • Ensure that tools and equipment are kept in a safe working condition and comply to legal requirements
    • Complete all relevant inspections and reports (manually and on CMMS system)
    • Ensure that non-negotiable rules, practices, procedures and policies are adhered to
    • Report all incidents, accidents and possible events
    • Report all identified defects, unsafe conditions and possible concerns
    • Prepare components, work area and safety protocols before commencement of task
    • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with company safety standards, protocols, practices and procedures
    • Perform other maintenance-related work and ad hoc duties as and when required
    • Perform administrative tasks on CMMS

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • National Senior Certificate
    • N3 with technical subjects
    • Valid driver’s license

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum two years job related experience
    • Knowledge of vehicle operation and basic maintenance requirements
    • Minimum two years knowledge in the mining sector, health, safety and quality work environment, legal requirements and protocols

    SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    • Good communication (verbal and written)
    • Ability to take instructions
    • Ability to use hand and power tools
    • Computer literacy

    Engineering Foreman - North West

    PURPOSE

    An exciting opportunity exists to ensure that engineering resources are utilised to maintain the Plant as planned.

    Requirements

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Operate and Promote Health and Safety on Site

    • Maintain FAT RSA Plant safety policy and procedure requirements
    • Promote safety performance
    • Conduct risk assessments and deliver toolbox talks / briefings
    • Perform planned task observations and Visible Felt Leadership (VFLs)
    • Ensure appropriate zero harm principles are observed
    • Investigate incidents and accidents

    Coordination

    • Liaise with Engineering and Production staff
    • Evaluate condition monitoring status
    • Issue work schedules and job cards on On-Key  and  CMMS
    • Coordinate maintenance planning on On-Key and CMMS
    • Issue requisitions for spares as required and ensure maintenance of spares
    • Monitor equipment movement and logistics
    • Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations

    Administration

    • Perform administrative duties to ensure record accuracy and availability
    • Prepare standby lists and perform standby duties
    • Compile and prepare weekly and monthly reports
    • Generate cost report and other reports required
    • Liaise with clients on site

    Team Management

    • Select and appoint competent and passionate staff
    • Schedule, coordinate and supervise the daily activities of team
    • Monitor performance and maintain discipline
    • Offer coaching and on-the-job training to ensure maintenance according to company standards

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • N3 or equivalent qualification
    • Qualified Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate (Section 26)
    • All training certificates and training module documentation must  be available from accredited training centre
    • Valid driver’s licence
    • MHSA supervision qualifications will be added advantage
    • Auto electrical qualification and experience will be added advantage

    EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum five years Artisan experience in mining / construction / transport / plant hire or manufacturing – yellow machine orientated (ADTs, excavators, graders, wheel loaders, water bowsers)
    • Minimum three years experience as an Engineering Foreman/Supervisor, preferable in the mining environment

    Sheq Assistant - North West

    Description

    • To implement and maintain the Fraser Alexander SHEQ Management system to effectively manager safety, Health, Environmental and Quality related risks in responsibility. Create an environmental in which employees behave responsibly towards the risk that form part of their specific work environment develop basic SHEQ System in line with client requirements that are not satisfied by the Fraser Alexander SHEQ System.

    Requirements
    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Policy, Targets, Objectives & Goals

    • Ensure that the current SHE Policy is displayed at all area of the operation.
    • Make all employees aware of the SHE Policy, Targets, Objectives and Goals.
    • Communication with all client in this regard.

    Legal Aspects/ Requirement

    • Ensure company practices comply with legislative requirement.
    • Ensure submission of applicable statutory documents.
    • Quarterly review of appointments in each audit area and update.
    • Advise management/ appointment of the role, responsibilities and duties.

    Risk Assessment

    • Ensure that all  contract have a baseline risk assessment.
    • Review baseline risk assessment annually.
    • Assist and advise operational staff with risk assessment.
    • Conduct WSWP and planned task observation.
    • Conduct an issue base risk assessment with all reportable or disabling incidents.
    • Establish a system to monitor WCA claims status
    • Monitor the medical status of employees.

    Special Projects

    • Provide on going feedback to management on the project.
    • Review the project at the end of the project to ensure continual approval.

    Qualification

    • Grade 12
    • National Diploma / Btech in safety management

    Experience

    • 2 years’ experience in safety role.
