    Occupational Hygiene Officer

    Job Description:

    • The Occupational Hygiene Officer is involved in the planning of monitoring, the measurement of Health stressors (e.g. air monitoring) the evaluation and interpretation of exposures to ensure that Venetia Mine remains compliant with health and hygiene legislation.

    KEY RESULT AREAS:

    • Personal and area monitoring, measuring, and controlling of chemical and physical hazards (e.g. noise, thermal stress).
    • Produce monthly feedback reports on work done for compliance
    • Conduct surveys of workplaces with potential occupational health hazards in the form of chemical hazards, physical hazards, ergonomic hazards, and biological hazards.
    • Conduct SHE File audits to ensure compliance with the Occupational Hygiene requirements as per OHSAS 18001 & and mine procedures.
    • Evaluate and quantify the levels of the different hazards present by making use of specialized equipment and instrumentation.
    • Compare findings of assessments and surveys with statutory exposure limits in order to determine if a potentially hazardous situation exists.
    • Capturing actions on Safety Management System for deviations in the workplace that may lead to occupational health hazards as per survey recommendations.
    • Knowledge sharing through training of the workforce in identifying and addressing health and hygiene hazards.
    • Assist the Senior Occupational Hygiene Officer in conducting and performing occupational health risk assessments (under the guidance of the appointed occupational hygienist).
    • Assist the Senior Occupational Hygiene Officer in planning, design, and implementation of occupational hygiene programs and control measures.
    • Conduct investigations of overexposures (chemical and physical hazards) and recommend controls for risk mitigation.
    • Calibrating and maintaining sampling equipment.

    Qualifications:

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Education & Experience)

    • Grade 12 certificate or relevant national NQF level qualification.
    • 3 Years’ Experience in the occupational hygiene environment.
    • Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control
    • Code 08 (B) Driver’s License.
    • Successfully obtain a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness certificate) and pass Heat Tolerance Screening for Underground Fitness.

    ADVANTAGEOUS

    • Registered with the South African Institute of Occupational Hygienists [SAIOH] on assistant Level with a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Hygiene or equivalent.

    • Familiarity with a Safety Management System

    HR Operations Advisor

    Job Description:

    • This role reports into the People Services Department
    • We deliver technical services and technology systems to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the Group diamond value chain from exploration to diamond recovery. Activities include marine geophysical survey, sampling, mining, projects, engineering, technology development and maintenance.
    • This role is responsible for HR operations for the Technology business. This includes but is not limited to the execution and support for HR services, systems (e.g. Success Factors & RP4 SAP), administration, labour planning, Payroll administration and reporting.

    Your role will include:

    People Operations & Governance

    • Resolve HR Services related issues according to customers’ needs adhering to organisational policies and procedures
    • Ensure data integrity in the correct use of people data, systems whilst maintaining data best practice.
    • Manage and administer the integrity of data in the ERP and Success Factors environments.

    Systems & Processes

    • Control system access for HR users, Manager's Desktop and Employee Self Service
    • Provide training for Line Managers and other end users as a HR module super user Stakeholder engagements
    • Manages and supports the architecture of the ERP interfaces together with the AMS/IM SAP team

    Reporting

    • Generate all monthly and ad-hoc reports for business (e.g Headcount, data analytics, transformation, absenteeism, overtime, employee movement etc.) and discuss areas of concern (e.g Sick Surveillance, Overtime) with the People Partner.
    • Performing data integrity checks to ensure accuracy of data before making reports available.

    Qualifications:

    • Degree or National Diploma in HR Management or equivalent

    Additional requirements:

    • 3 years’ experience in Human Resources Administration that supports the activities of this role
    • Strong systems knowledge (Success Factors, SAP, SharePoint) to support key systems activities
    • A clear understanding and demonstrable experience of Success Factors, including the employee central, performance management, talent and compensation modules is desired.
    • Previous experience in benefit administration and global mobility is desired
    • Advanced skills in MS Excel spreadsheets, calculations, charts etc
    • Strong HR Administration Management skills (reward, conditions of employment, basic SARS and payroll knowledge)

    Artisan Winder Fitter

    Job Description:

    Your role will include but not limited to:

    • Contribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation, health, safety, environmental, and security policies and procedures, and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion. 
    • Perform Legal Inspections on all Winders and associated equipment as per MHSA requirements.
    • Perform maintenance and repair of Koepe and double drum winders and other equipment in the section including, but not limited to: Compressors & Refrigeration plants. 
    • Carry out scheduled and non-scheduled repairs and installation work as required to ensure optimum equipment availability and reliability.

    This role is in the Engineering department at a CL level reporting to the Senior Engineering Foreman.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification with mathematics and Science
    • Trade Certificate:  Fitter or Fitting & Turning

    Additional requirements:

    • Valid EB / Code 8 Drivers License
    • Computer literacy – MS Office Suite

    • Skills to troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical systems and major equipment within area of responsibility

    Clerk of Works – Civil/ Structural

    Job Description:

    • Preparation of Civil / structural engineering technical aspects relating to underground SIB.
    • Provide engineering construction support to Superintendent projects: civil / structural / mechanical.
    • Implementation of relevant civil / structural project initiatives in accordance with the SIB master project plan over the life of mine.

    Mine Overseer Pre-Production

    Job Description:

    • The Mine Overseer is accountable for the planning, coordination and effective implementation of mining and all related activities to ensure the achievement of operational objectives arising out of the business and mining strategy.

    KEY RESULTS AREAS:

    • The Mine Overseer has the legal accountability with a 2.14.1 and a 2.13.12 appointment in terms of the MHSA section 26 of 1996.
    • After safety, the main purpose of the role is to develop and execute the day to day shift plan utilising their knowledge of the mechanized development cycle to ensure the effective deployment of resources to achieve the shift plan.
    • Interpret execution methodologies, and contribute towards development of those, for mining activities and construction related activities.

    • Review progressive mining output information and statistics, and investigate and action deviations to ensure attainment of the mining plan within the stipulated timeframes.

    • Provide inputs and feedback on development of technical standards and systems to build effective operational support for achievement of development mining targets.

    Qualifications:

    • Mine Overseer’s Certificate of Competence for Scheduled Mines.
    • Proven track record of excellent production performance.
    • Mine Overseer 2.14.1 and 2.13.12 appointment.
    • Blasting Certificate for Underground Hard Rock, or equivalent.
    • A Supervisory qualification would be advantageous.
    • Code EB Driver’s License.
    • Computer Literacy.
    • Valid First Aid Certificate.
    • Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground.

    Role-specific knowledge:

    • At least ten years mining experience at metalliferous mines
    • Minimum of 5 years underground mining experience, which MUST be in a mechanised mining development environment.
    • Minimum of 3 years underground supervisory experience as a appointed Mine Overseer

    In-depth knowledge and experience of:

    • Trackless Mining machinery and trackless mining best practises.
    • Underground mining practices and related operations environment.
