Purpose of the job 

• This job is responsible for the proactive monitoring of Database Management Systems in the Mainframe or Midrange environment. The incumbent will also be responsible to maintain and support various database instances to ensure continuous service to the client. 

Key Responsibility Areas 

•  Prepare Infrastructure for implementation and deployment; 
•  Management and Administration of application, ADABAS database, patches and service packs; 
•  Provide user support, 3rd party support, reporting and communication; 
•  Report on the work of the section to ensure accountability; 
•  Security and disaster recovery; 
•  Develop procedures and standards for database administration and related services and monitor implementation thereof; 

Qualifications and Experience 
Minimum: 

• 3-year National Higher Diploma / Degree in an ICT related field (Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology and Engineering). 

Experience: 

• 6-7 years practical work experience of Natural ADABAS database administration on different platforms with management /supervisory responsibility in a large corporate/public sector organization this should include: Responsible for the creation, scheduling, and support of database backup and maintenance processes. 
• Implement changes to database subsystem variables. 
• Performance verification after infrastructure upgrades and system IPLs, and IT Infrastructure to develop an understanding of data and information needs, identify solutions and improve the quality of service while providing support through the logical and physical design of databases. 
• Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure) a plus.

Purpose of the job 

• To help the business implement technology solutions in a cost-effective way by determining the requirements of a project or program, and communicating them clearly to stakeholders, facilitators and partners. (review, assessment, and development of business processes) 

Key Responsibility Area 

•  Consults with clients (Govt Departments), management and personnel to identify, define and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, and levels of systems access. to improve interoperability of government systems and quality of services and deliverables. 
•  Create business requirements analysis and design work packages for integrated software components, taking into consideration SITA’s software development stack and doing this in accordance with ICT standards and the enterprise architecture for Government. 
•  Identifies opportunities for improving business processes through information systems and/or non-system driver changes; assists in the preparation of proposals to develop new systems and/or operational changes. 
•  Deliver services according to project plans and architectural and governance mechanisms to ensure overall compliance and improved service delivery. 
•  Model Target Business Solution Specification in accordance with ICT standards and the enterprise architecture for Government. 

Qualifications and Experience 

• Minimum: 3-year National Diploma / Degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology and Engineering or related IT field / NQF level 6. 
• Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in business analysis, business process management and business process engineering/reengineering. Including; experience in business modelling. Experience in business architecture. 
• Experience in solution architecture. Experience in business specification development URS, BRS, FDS. Experience in applying ICT best practice and experience in conducting research and feasibility study. 

Technical Competencies Description

Purpose of the job 
To lead the design, implementation, debugging, documentation, release and maintenance of software-based solutions, write code and enhance software/systems in accordance with ICT standards and the enterprise architecture for Government. 

Key Responsibility Areas 

•  Lead the design and development of new features for the software systems, and improvement of the existing ones; 
•  Implementation, debugging, documentation and release of the software solutions;
•  Provide maintenance and enhancement support of the existing systems; 
•  Perform software systems coding assignments; and 
•  Supervision of the Software development team. 

Qualifications and Experience 

• Minimum: 3 years National Diploma/ Bachelor's degree in an ICT related fields (Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology and Engineering) or related field. Relevant / Equivalent: Bachelors and related IT Diploma, or IT Diploma or Honours with IT Specialization (NQF 6) or equivalent. 
• Experience: 6-7 years’ experience with full software development lifecycle (SLDC), including solution development, operational responsibility in a large corporate/public sector organisation. 
• The experience must include: 
• Good solid programming Skills and understanding of JAVA language and Oracle database is essential and required. Experience in Database will be an advantage. 

Experience in solution analysis, and development for the development, implementation and maintenance/enhancements of systems within the corporate/public sector, including:

•  Successfully developed and implemented applications. 
• Software development team leadership competency. 
• Software development deliverable effort planning, estimations and execution management. 
• Developed efficient and effective IT solutions to diverse and complex business problems. 
• Extensive experience with a wide variety of database management systems and maintenance.
