    Purpose of Job

    Technician I Instr & Control

    Purpose of Job

    • To perform routine maintenance, install complex digital and analog control systems, perform technical electronic, laboratory and field analysis, and repair and modify instrumentation and control systems to allow machines to reduce variability and run to the best of their abilities.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Execute appropriate maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments and control systems.
    • Implement technical solutions based on practical and theoretical knowledge to multi-disciplinary project teams.
    • Participate in upgrading instruments and installing new instrument and control systems for assigned projects.
    • Examine existing instrumentation and control engineering criteria to determine necessary revisions, deletions, or amendments to outdated instruments.

    • Use predictive maintenance processes to identify and mitigate risks and avoid backlogs.
    • Investigate and report incidents within set of guidelines. Carry out immediate corrective actions.

    Chief Foreman

    Purpose of Job

    • To manage the engineering maintenance processes within the appointed area of responsibility to enable various mining teams to reach production targets within the principles of QCDSM

    Key Accountabilities

    • Manage and carry out engineering and maintenance strategies and overhaul plans on a day to day basis that ensure that departments KPI's are met deliver maintenance, if and when to replace / repair equipment

    Manager Rights & Properties Mining

    Purpose of Job

    • Coordination of Sasol’s mineral rights portfolio ensuring Sasol has access to the necessary rights to prospect and mine and maintains its license to operate. Negotiate, acquire, manage and safeguard prospecting, mining and related rights and ensure legal compliance with applicable mining laws to enable Sasol Mining to successfully conduct their operations. 
    • Coordinate strategic stakeholder engagement inter alia with the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) and the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS). Provide support to the Regional Operations and Assets Services team related to the acquisition and management of land rights and land access.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Advise, strategise and provide effective support to the Sasol Group relating to mining legislation and develop strategies to ensure compliance with any legislative changes.
    • Coordinate and prepare applications for prospecting rights, mining rights, mining permits, amendments, renewal of rights, transferring or cession of rights and related applications ensuring Sasol secures and safeguards its license to operate and maintains unhindered access to coal reserves.
    • Identification of strategic resources, due diligence investigations, third party negotiations to acquire mineral rights, preparation of sale agreements, facilitate payments, preparation of application for cession of rights, lodge applications with Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources and manage the timely approval, notarial execution of right(s), once approved.
    • Manage relationships with key stakeholders such as the DMPR, DWS, local authorities, private landowners and/or communities in areas where Sasol Mining’s operations are located.
    • Ensure compliance with mining legislation such as the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA), Royalty Act, BBBEE legislation including the Mining Charter, the Mine Health and Safety Act and a good understanding of Spatial and Town Planning legislation.
    • Coordination of Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources compliance verification audits.
    • Effective management of applications to ensure timely approval by authorities.
    • Ensure compliance with Social and Labour Plan targets and associated regulatory engagements.
    • Preparation of prescribed annual compliance reports and timely submission of required documentation.
    • Coordination of the payment of prescribed prospecting fees and adherence to prospecting work programmes of respective rights. • Registration of rights in the Mineral and Petroleum Titles Registration Office. • Ensure access to land to enable mining and prospecting activities to continue unobstructed.
    • Manage updating of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Landfolio rights management system.
    • Attend to all MPRDA related enquiries and provide specialist knowledge to project teams in planning new mine developments or mine expansions.
    • Establish and maintain a register to track applications for rights and compliance to terms and conditions of rights.
    • Ensure that work standards are met according to quality, quantity and due dates.
    • Review compliance and follow up against the standards and objectives. Resolve work obstacles and issues positively and quickly.
    • Coordinate Land related matters of Sasol Mining with Regional Site Services and Assets team and manage Service Level Agreement.
    • Coordinate SLP inputs with respective Sasol business units.
    • Coordinate external service providers such as environmental practitioners responsible for public participation and preparation of specialist studies, attorneys regarding notarial execution of rights, registrations, appeals, objections etc.

    Training Coordinator

    Purpose of Job

    • Responsible to assist the Learning teams with multi-functional administration duties.
    • Record and capture learning activities on the learning management systems. Course catalogue scheduling and registrations. Management and maintenance of Learning Management Systems, employee document control, record keeping and archiving. Stakeholder / customer facing engagement and support. External training service provider coordination, support and general administrative duties in the L&D team.
    • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills is needed, as well as a good understanding of Learning and Development design principles.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Execute on course scheduling and maintenance activities and ensure accuracy of bookings and schedules.
    • Coordinate training attendance and maintain dual Learning Management Systems linked to this process.

    Snr Engineer Electrical

    Purpose of Job

    • Utilise sound level of experience in electrical engineering to deliver electrical engineering operational support ensuring that the technical ability of plants meet the operating intent, whilst governing operational technical standards. Will ensure installed assets are being operated at the most profitable operating window that will be determined by, but not limited to, throughputs, utility consumption, availability, reliability and quality.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Utilise electrical engineering systems, tools and standards in all projects.
    • Set criteria for specific electrical maintenance strategies from the specifications/standards and OME requirements.
    • Apply in depth knowledge in integration of electrical network and equipment necessities with regards to process requirements.

    • Ensure correct root cause is identified and effective corrective actions are implemented to prevent re-occurrence of incidents.
    • Implement best practices/benchmarking with Sasol electrical teams.
    • Identify failure modes of equipment to pro-actively predict failures.
    • Interpret results from analysis and monitoring of electrical equipment/systems.

    •  Actively partake in the Sasol Management of Change (MOC) process as part of project and maintenance works for all changes in plant areas and perform the function of Engineering Discipline Lead (EDL) for your are of responsibility.
    • Provide clear guidance on relevant specifications and standards when changes take place in the electrical field for a specific plant.
    • Ensure modifications/designs comply with the required specifications and standards.
    • Identify advancements in engineering technology, specifically for electrical equipment, which can have a significant positive production or equipment reliability impact.
    • Interpret and translate business requirements into an electrical engineering strategy to enable OME to safely meet production targets.
