    Underwriter- Centre of Excellence

    Job description

    Our opportunity

    The Underwriter Centre of Excellence role is;

    • To support the design, development, analysis, interpretation and presentation of statistical personal lines underwriting data, obtained from information systems.
    • To interpret and provide accurate and timely personal line underwriting information to managers in a format that is easily understood and relevant to the decision making process.
    • To perform quality control evaluations on personal lines portfolio renewals and multi claimants. To demonstrate specialized personal lines product and market knowledge in assessing referred risks.

    Your role

    Key Tasks & Accountabilities

    • To Grow Revenue and Profit
    • Growth and retention of business by managing personal lines portfolios.
    • Achieve targeted underwriting profit by managing personal lines portfolios.
    • To Focus And Deliver
    • Develop, and adapt as necessary, information reports on key portfolio performance indicators to ensure that managers can measure and monitor and continuously improve personal lines performance.
    • Assist with personal lines benchmarking analysis.
    • Analyzing new blocks of business and recommend acceptance thereof, based on sound business sense.
    • Development and ongoing monthly production of multi claimant and renewal reports for personal lines.
    • Ensure monthly renewal and multi claimant processes on personal lines are followed and in place.
    • Accurate and timeous response to High Valued Claims UW.
    • Accurate and timeous response to above mandate personal lines referrals and provide technical underwriting guidance to IMP and GRP.
    • To Learn and Improve
    • Regular analysis of key portfolio performance indicators providing information reports with recommendations.
    • Regular review and analysis of multi claimant and renewal reports.
    • Regular analysis of referral patterns completed and actions taken and improvement suggested.
    • Aligning performance of portfolio to various feedback reports from business units such as PUMs, Sales, and PU.

    Qualifications And Experience

    • Grade 12 and AIISA or FIISA (or working towards)
    • 5 years experienceof which 2 years must preferable be in portfolio management
    • NQF Level 4

    Knowledge

    • Sound understanding and knowledge of South African Insurance/re-insurancemarket
    • Sound knowledge of how to optimize underwriting performance at a policy and portfolio level
    • Expert technical knowledge and understanding of underwriting principles
    • Expert portfolio management knowledge and understanding portfolio management principles
    • FAIS compliant, 60 credits would be an advantage
    • Commercial, Financial and business acumen

    • This role is based at our Head Office (15 Marshall Street, Ferreirasdorp - Johannesburg).
