As a Contracts and Claims Manager you will support the Siemens Power and Gas Energy Solutions team in Southern Africa. You will be responsible for identifying and managing contractual risks and for defining and implementing corresponding claim strategies in close cooperation with Siemens’ project management.

What are my responsibilities?

• Contract Management
• Identify contractual risks and recommend business oriented mitigations and/or alternative solutions.
• Proactively advise and support project and site management as well as other project team members regarding customer and suppliers contracts.
• Actively participate in contract (re)negotiations.
• Settle contractual disputes, including support in alternative dispute resolution procedures and potentially in arbitration proceedings.
• Claim Management
• Development, implementation and regular reviews of claim strategies and implementation frameworks with regard to customers, suppliers and other partners in cooperation with project management
• Identification, evaluation and follow up on events relevant for incoming and outgoing claims
• Collection, preparation and management of relevant documents (including drafting of correspondence) and evidence in accordance with the contractual deadlines and requirements; including collecting, organizing and maintaining the database of claim related documentation.
• Preparation and participation in claim negotiations

What do I need to qualify for this job?

• Degree in law and professional experience in a law firm or industrial company, or alternatively, degree in business administration, a technical discipline or comparable commercial/technical qualification and professional experience in contract administration and claims management
• Experience in major international standard contracts such as FIDIC/NEC
• Excellent communication and drafting skills, both oral and in writing
• Understanding and ability to grasp the economics of the business, with an ability to think creatively and innovatively
• Experience in project documentation (such as time scheduling)
• Ability to work in teams
• Ability to work under pressure within diverse, multi-national and multi-disciplinary team and to contribute to team objectives
• Flexibility for travelling and relocation to project sites in future.
• Wish to work in a multi-cultural environment within internationally staffed teams and contractual partners.
