Your work will be used to power the Yoco platform: by leveraging the rich data available, the Yoco Data Team is able to add real value to our customers and drive new product development, both internally and externally.

Launched in 2015 and already supporting over 9,000 SMEs you will need to be comfortable building a platform that scales exponentially year-on-year in terms of both volume and variety as more complex products are included in the ecosystem. You will be working with a team of data scientists to deliver actionable insights in real time and build internal products/tools from queries and analyses, to allow company-wide access and empower a data culture.

The requirement of being equally comfortable with managing databases and building out systems requires a dynamic individual capable of acquiring new skills at a rapid rate. You will be challenged constantly and required to find creative solutions to complex problems whilst leaning on recent developments in the SaaS space to cut out the majority of manual and repetitive work. Learning from international best practices, e.g. AirBnB, will provide a path to success - you should be familiar with the trends in the industry and their impact to any Data team.

ROLE | WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING?

You will be a part of Yoco’s Data & Risk team working closely with our technical Product team and serving as an interface between the two. Broadly, your key responsibility will be working with databases/servers to ensure the correct data are stored in a consistent and accessible way for the rest of the team.

As Yoco scales it becomes critical to ensure the accuracy, integrity and performance of its database - this is our most valuable asset. You will be responsible for formalising database operations, developing and maintaining the data warehouse and supporting with data exchanges and integrations.

In order to perform well in this position you should be comfortable with relational data architectures and implementations as well as programming/scripting languages such as Python. You should also be familiar with macro trends within the broader data context to make key decisions to determine Yoco’s data strategy.

Key Activities Include

• Developing internal platforms to enable data visibility to the entire team in a simple and useful way
• Developing and maintaining the data warehouse - storing all data in the same place, transforming the source data into standardized tables
• Supporting sophisticated predictive analysis using data transformation techniques
• Ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data captured across app, mobile and web platforms and taking steps to solve any issues encountered
• Supporting with the technical back-end delivery for key projects and within the domains of business intelligence and data science
• Managing and maintaining cloud services and integrations that perform key data functions

Key Requirements

• Advanced SQL/postgreSQL knowledge
• Information systems / Computer Science Bachelors Degree / Database administration
• Experience in a similar role (e.g. database administrator) 3+ years
• Attention to detail
• Systems thinker
• Bonus points
• Experience in the Financial Services industry
• Familiarity with predictive modelling using Python
