Accountant at Communicate Recruitment

• A fantastic opportunity is available for an ambitious Accountant to join a growing and collaborative business environment. This role offers broad exposure across financial reporting, compliance, operational finance, and team management, making it ideal for someone looking to grow into a leadership position within finance.The successful candidate will work closely with senior finance leadership while taking ownership of day to day accounting functions and supervising a small finance team.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS for SMEs
• Manage general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and journal processing
• Perform bank reconciliations and assist with cash flow monitoring
• Review financial performance and provide detailed variance analysis
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities across the business
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and statutory obligations
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and other regulatory submissions
• Assist with both internal and external audit requirements and maintain strong internal controls
• Review financial transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and enhance efficiencies
• Supervise and support a finance team consisting of 4 staff members
• Work alongside the Financial Manager on operational and reporting related finance functions

Skills & Experience:

• Completed articles or 1 to 3 years of relevant accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance processes
• Exposure to Sage Evolution or Sage Pastel would be advantageous
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
• Confident communicator with a proactive and outgoing personality
• Ability to work effectively in a deadline driven environment

Qualification:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related qualification
