Bartender (PH162) at The President Hotel

As we continue our journey toward luxury, we’re looking for an experienced Bartender with a minimum of 2 year’s current bartending experience in a fast-paced hotel or upmarket restaurant bar environment, with strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wines, beers and non-alcoholic beverages.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
• Minimum 1 year’s bartending experience in a fast-paced hotel or upmarket restaurant bar environment
• Previous bartending experience within a busy 4-star or 5-star hotel environment advantageous
• Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wines, beers and non-alcoholic beverages
• Strong beverage preparation, presentation and service skills
• Confident and engaging communication and guest service skills
• Ability to read guest cues, anticipate needs and make suitable beverage recommendations
• Good knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and basic HACCP standards
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple orders during busy service periods
• Experience using POS systems advantageous
• Ability to work shifts, evenings, weekends and public holidays
• Professional grooming, presentation and a positive service attitude
• South African citizen or holder of a valid South African work permit
• A fully updated CV with contactable reference details is essential

What You’ll Be Doing

• Taking beverage orders accurately and efficiently at the bar and designated service areas
• Preparing and serving cocktails, spirits, wines, beers and non-alcoholic beverages with precision and consistency
• Following established recipes, measurements and presentation standards
• Delivering warm, engaging and personalised service to every guest
• Providing beverage recommendations, menu guidance and pairing suggestions
• Serving alcoholic beverages responsibly and following all required procedures
• Maintaining a clean, organised and professionally presented bar station throughout service
• Restocking beverages, glassware, garnishes and other bar supplies as required
• Assisting with daily stock counts, stock rotation and wastage reporting
• Monitoring stock levels and helping to minimise unnecessary wastage
• Processing orders and payments accurately through the POS system
• Actively upselling beverages and identifying opportunities to increase revenue
• Working closely with the Food & Beverage team to ensure smooth and efficient service
• Reporting equipment faults, breakages and maintenance requirements promptly
• Maintaining hotel beverage, hygiene and service standards at all times
