    Compliance Lead (Sunbet)

    Job Description

    • The Compliance Lead is responsible for supporting the implementation, monitoring and maintenance of SunBet’s compliance programme. This role ensures that all operations adhere to applicable gambling regulations, licensing conditions, internal policies and industry standards.
    • The Compliance Lead provides operational guidance to teams, monitors adherence to controls, assists in regulatory reporting and audits and escalates risks or incidents to senior management.
    • While responsible gambling policies are owned at the group level, the Compliance Lead supports their local execution and helps safeguard player welfare. This role contributes to a culture of integrity, accountability and ethical conduct throughout the business. 

    Job Requirements

    Qualification

    • B - Degree in Law, Auditing or Risk Management.

    Experience

    • 8-10 years’ experience in a legal or regulatory environment and / or administration law.
    • Experience working with regulatory bodies.
    • Experience in an online gaming/high tech/digital organisation (advantageous).

    Job Scope & Responsibilities

    • Monitor and interpret relevant gambling legislation, licensing conditions, and regulatory updates across jurisdictions.
    • Ensure company policies, procedures, and operations remain fully compliant with applicable laws.
    • Maintain a regulatory change management process, including impact assessments and implementation tracking.
    • Develop and maintain compliance frameworks to identify, assess, and mitigate regulatory risks.
    • Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments, reporting findings to senior leadership.
    • Develop and execute a compliance monitoring programme, including control testing, thematic reviews, and ongoing monitoring.
    • Track remediation actions and ensure timely closure of compliance issues. 
    • Support the implementation of group-level responsible gambling policies, standards and tools within the business.
    • Monitor adherence to responsible gambling requirements in day-to-day operations, flagging gaps or risks.
    • Act as a liaison between the business unit and Group teams on player protection matters.
    • Assist customer service and product teams in applying responsible gambling controls (e.g., exclusions, limits, alerts).
    • Escalate potential problem gambling cases, incidents, or control failures in line with group protocols.
    • Contribute to reporting on responsible gambling metrics and compliance performance.
    • Design and deliver compliance training programs for employees at all levels.
    • Promote a culture of integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct throughout the organization.
    • Track and report on compliance training completion and effectiveness in conjunction with Learning & Development.
    • Act as the primary point of contact with regulators, auditors and external compliance bodies, escalate matters to the HOD.
    • Provide clear guidance and support to internal teams on compliance-related matters.
    • Provide internal support in contract management process (advantageous).
    • Investigate compliance breaches, customer complaints, or regulatory inquiries.
    • Maintain a breach and incident register, classifying material vs non-material events.
    • Perform root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
    • Prepare timely reports and dashboards for leadership, highlighting trends, risks and KPIs.
    • Maintain and implement business unit compliance policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with group standards.
    • Support periodic review and updating of policies to reflect regulatory or operational changes.
    • Advise leadership on regulatory trends and their potential regulatory risks.
    • Support expansion into new markets by ensuring compliance readiness and licensing requirements are met.
    • Monitor conduct risk, including fair customer treatment, complaints handling, and marketing compliance
