DevOps Manager at MRI Software

Job Description
MRI Software is seeking a DevOps Manager to join our team in Cape Town. As a DevOps Manager you will be responsible for delivering, maintaining, and optimizing team performance. You will also be responsible for contributing to solution & service designs, understanding their impact on application/ infrastructure/ platform, ensuring the availability of supporting components and enabling all consumers for various platform solutions.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring, maintaining, and supporting the operational capacity, availability, and performance of solutions against all committed DevOps items.
• Oversee software release management
• Manages the software builds, packages, and deploys for consumption due to incidents or problems which have been identified affecting production
• Manage the organizations Cloud costs on (Azure)
• Manage all content going live
• Determining the architecture that executes the roadmap which is established with the group program manager
• Stay current on advancements in infrastructure landscape and influence adoption across enterprise
• Serves as a gatekeeper between Engineering teams and Service Delivery teams to provide handoff from Engineering to Production
• Develop scripts to automate DevOps functions, source code checking with continuous integration, automated test tool configuration, application topology configuration, automated deployment and proactive environment monitoring & management
• Be part of a team of collaborators focusing on internal and external client satisfaction, efficiency and flawless execution in the OLA’s and SLA’s we have with other internal teams
• Gather, challenge, clarify and document technical requirements coming from technology leadership

Key Responsibilities Will Include

• Team Management: KPI’s /Performance reviews/ Leave Management/ Individual PDP’s
• Ensuring necessary development controls and governance are in place and policies to ensure alignment
• Ensuring effective monitoring of committed work items
• Identification and mitigation of risks for services into production
• Coordinating and managing key stakeholder interests
• Ensuring availability, sustainability, and accessibility of platform systems/services

Core Competencies, Knowledge, And Experience

• Agile methodologies and techniques used in development of IaC
• Experience in grooming and estimation of user and technical stories
• Strong knowledge of Incident and problem management processes
• Experience in effective troubleshooting techniques
• Experience in managing and deploying .NET applications
• Continuous integration and continuous delivery methodologies and techniques
• DevOps culture, processes, and tools
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to new methods and processes
• Strong relationship building, persuasion, and collaboration skills that drives internal-and cross-team constructive feedback and support
• Strong communications skills and time-management skills, with the ability manage multiple tasks, and work well under pressure
• Ability to lead and mentor team members

The Ideal Candidate For This Role Will Have

• Min 5 years’ experience in a Team Lead/Management role
• Excellent leadership and people skills driving, cohesion and cross-functional collaboration
• with a natural ability to multi-task
• Previous experience in hiring, managing, and mentoring a team of specialists.
• 5-10 years’ experience in software development / operational roles
• Working knowledge of current and emerging virtualization, infrastructure, and cloud and containers technologies and architectures, such as Windows, Linux, Azure, APIM, Docker etc.
• Knowledge and experience of Web services, SOAP and RESTful interfaces, and API Service Management
• Experience working with agile methodologies, such as Scrum, XP, and with teams leveraging DevOps and Continuous Delivery / Integration
• Strong knowledge of automation frameworks and tools
• Excellent problem-solving ability in complex environments
• Strong knowledge and experience on Azure (Certification preferred)
• An appreciation for best practices and innovation in product design and development, user experience, and team management.
• NDip/ Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years working in complex/matrix environments.
