Laboratory Technician: Chemistry at Sol Plaatje University

Purpose

• The incumbent will be expected to ensure that practicals offered to students conform to the highest quality standards and support the teaching, research, and community engagement objectives of the Department.
• The applicant will also be expected to conduct preparatory work for practicals.

Minimum Requirements. 

• Relevant Degree NQF7 Chemistry. 
• Specialist knowledge related to the specific laboratory. 
• Laboratory and/or industry experience. 
• Computer literate. 
• Driver’s License.

Recommendations 

• A postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage. 
• Intention to register for a higher qualification.

Duties and Responsibility

• Ensure the instrument and equipment management in the department.
• Conduct the preparatory work for education and training during practicals. 
• Ensure health and safety management rules & protocols in the Department 
• Contribute to the research agenda of the department 
• Participate in personal and professional development. 
• Develop relevant monitoring, evaluation, and reporting tools.
