Lawnmower Operator at City of Tshwane

Appointment requirements

• Ability to perform duties
• Basic literacy
• Lawnmower operator’s course
• Relevant experience in a professional gardening services environment
• Physical fitness and good health with the ability to carry equipment and machines
• Willingness and ability to work shifts
• Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Personal attributes and/or competencies

• Ability to understand and follow given instructions; no physical disabilities; overall good health; no back problems; ability to keep to strict deadlines; ability to work in extreme weather conditions which are physically threatening; physical fitness to work outdoors

Primary functions

• Cut grass in all developed and undeveloped areas, at parks, on traffic islands and at sport and recreational facilities by means of lawnmowers and brush cutters
• Conduct general maintenance work in all public open spaces and at facilities in order to improve the quality of the environment
• Adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993)
