Manager: Bank Tech Architecture and Delivery at MTN

Key Deliverables

The Manager BankTech Architecture and Delivery will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

• Provide expertise on BankTech and Financials systems application architecture, integration development initiatives, analyzing business requirements and crafting appropriate, cost-effective, and logical solutions
• Design and architect Banktech platforms and related support tools
• Deliver Banktech technology stack through both Agile (and Waterfall SDLC processes where needed)
• Collaborate and communicate with different technical, business and partner teams with clear and consistent communication to deliver greater architecture alignment.
• Transforms complex business requirements into candidate system architectures which also meet security and high availability requirements
• Design, develop and implement tools and mechanisms which will reduce the time and effort it takes to integrate cloud native BankTech Solution
• Deliver technology solutions that are tested, maintainable, optimized
• Deliver designs for components that solve defined BankTech technical problems.
• Identify risks and mitigations and make appropriate technical trade-offs in designs.
• Lead Integration for legacy systems and payment systems with new BankTech technologies using technologies such as Service-oriented architecture (SOA) and/or restful APIs
• Work closely with business together to create technical systems that shape great BankTech product experiences.

Governance

• Lead, set up / participate in planned and adhoc meetings for BankTech Unicorn
• Drive enterprise wide BankTech transformation initiatives, elicit inputs from relevant parties
• Drive adequate risk mitigation and controls, and elicit inputs from relevant parties
• Prepare proposal on change initiatives, SLA policies and procedures for BankTech Unicorn
• Sign off approval on changed and new initiatives for BankTech Unicorn

Escalations

• Manage and resolve escalations that have impact on critical path of project delivery
• Escalate issues that will result in severe time, scope, productivity, and cost or resource or reputational impact
• Manage and resolve escalations that have impact on BankTech Unicorn and Fintech

Reporting

• Report on a periodic basis to the function leadership on progress made within the function and in accordance with the measurement metrics set by the organization
• Report on an ad hoc basis on specific projects, as required

Budgets

• Support the plan and managing BankTech Tech budget, capex and opex

Education:

• Minimum 4-year Academic Degree with Honours (B Eng. / BSc Computing, IT, Degree Preferred)
• Relevant certification/accreditation/membership with professional body as required for role e.g TOGAF

Experience:

• 5 years relevant industry experience BankTech/banking, digital, fintech, telecommunication industry
• At least 3 years’ experience within a non-traditional FinTech or Financial Services company
• Hands on experience in managing, leading, and implementing innovative digital products and initiatives
• Experience in Integration & Orchestration, Functional Architecture Design, Technical Solution Design.
• Deep understanding of the digital banking ecosystem, players, business models and industry related best practices
• Proficient in Software Engineering.
• Understanding of Open API standards, protocols and methods for modern payment and financial systems
• Familiarity with RESTful services, HTTP, JSON, Ajax.
• Familiarity with Swagger or RAML
• Understanding of the Agile software delivery processes (SCRUM, Kanban preferable)
• Experience with Public & Private cloud technology (Azure or Google Cloud)
