As PR Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of Capitec’s bold brand journey — shaping stories that matter, building public trust, and positioning the bank as a purpose-led voice in the media.
You will:
Develop and lead an integrated PR strategy that supports business and brand goals.
Craft compelling narratives that resonate with media, customers, and the broader public.
Drive earned media coverage across national, regional, and digital platforms.
Lead proactive and reactive media engagement, ensuring consistent, on-brand messaging.
Partner with internal teams and agency collaborators to amplify key campaigns and announcements.
Provide strategic counsel during reputational or crisis moments.
Identify and manage thought leadership opportunities to elevate Capitec’s voice in financial and broader conversations.
Measure and report on media performance and sentiment, constantly optimising for impact.
What You’ll Bring:
8–10 years of PR experience, with a strong focus on media relations, crisis communication, and proactive storytelling.
A proven track record in leading and mentoring teams, managing both day-to-day comms and high-pressure situations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills — clear, confident, and strategic.
The ability to craft compelling narratives, manage media queries, and build lasting relationships with journalists.
Experience navigating complex, high-stakes environments, particularly in industries like finance, telco, or tech.
Hands-on expertise in crisis and issues management, including crafting responses, coordinating across stakeholders, and protecting brand reputation.
A relevant qualification in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
A willingness to relocate to Stellenbosch and work from the office full-time — we believe proximity builds agility and deeper connection.
