    Psychometrist

    Job Advert Summary    
    PURPOSE:

    • To deliver on the Industrial Psychological Services assessment process within the governance framework of the organisation.
    • To ensure that the ethical codes of the Health Professions Council of South Africa are abided by and adhered to when administering and evaluating psychometric assessments and when writing reports and giving feedback.

    Minimum Requirements    
    QUALIFICATIONS:

    •    B Degree (Hons) (Relevant) (Essential/Minimum)
    •    Certificate First Line Management (Essential/Minimum)

    EXPERIENCE:

    • 3-5 years Relevant experience in talent management, Human Resources or related field.  (Essential/Minimum)    Operational

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
    • Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
    • Registration: Psychometrist (Essential/Minimum)
    • Reg: Health Profession Council of SA (Essential/Minimum)

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    POSITION TASKS:

    The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following:
    Compliance, Governance and Assurance  

    • Adhere to legal requirements and comply with company specific policies and procedures
    • Adhere to ethical requirements and guidelines by Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
    • Address all discrepancies and unlawful practices
    • Ensure assessment instruments are used in highest professional standards and in accordance with HPCSA and organisational guidelines set out in policy
    • Manage and recommend on selection of psychometric instruments and approaches

    Customer and Client Relationship Management

    • Maintain relationships with both internal and external customers to promote assessment services
    • Support Industrial Psychological Services (IPS) capability by identifying appropriate testing and psychometric evaluations
    • Communication/engagement: Encourage open expression of ideas/opinions and foster dialogue. Seek out different opinions. Inform people of decisions, changes and other relevant information. Proactively address conflicts and initiate difficult conversations

    Functional Excellence    

    • Standardise, simplify and speed-up functional processes and eliminate duplication/bureaucracy
    • Develop and apply functional best practices and promote sharing of best practices/knowledge
    • Drive and execute functional excellence initiatives
    • Oversee and monitor functional activities at operations
    • Effectively manage matrix reporting
    • Identify and manage critical functional risks through appropriate mitigation plans and actions

    Functional Management

    • Monitor risk and address all discrepancies and unlawful practices
    • Engagement/communication: Communicate and engage functional employees, including virtuals. Engage with executives, operations and cross-functionally with peers. Represent the function and the Company externally as required
    • Governance: Ensure the function adheres to Group governance, policies, standards, statutory and legal compliance. Entrench a culture of discipline

    Internal Business Processes  

    • Recommend and guide Manager, Talent Planning to changes in group policies and processes for industrial psychological services
    • Apply and execute manual and electronic assessment instruments and techniques as part of recruitment selection and development processes, in a standardised manner and in line with legislations and best practice
    • Standardise the delivery of psychometric assessment techniques to all Company business units
    • Provide specialised advice on the most appropriate instruments and methodologies
    • Ensure optimal psychological practise across all Human Resources (HR) functions
    • Ensure that assessment feedback is correctly applied and integrated by line management to minimise risk of future appointments and development
    • Ensure alignment with Group assessment processes at all Business Units
    • Provide assessment reports and evaluate effectiveness of existing battery assessments in support of talent management processes

    Psychometric Services    

    • Administer, score and interpret psychometric assessments and generate reports
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing battery assessments in terms of results impact
    • Identify appropriate testing and psychometric evaluations aligned with current model
    • Strict management and quality assurance of 3rd party providers

    Safe and Healthy Work Environment

    • Maintain and ensure a healthy environment and safe operations practices. Ensure compliance with all applicable Safety Health and Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures in line with set standards
    • Encourage a culture that focuses on safety in all operations
