Software Quality Engineer (Automation Testing) – 6 Month Contract at DeARX Services (Pty) Ltd

• Our client, a leading bank based in Sandton, is looking for an experienced Software Quality Engineer (Automation Testing) to join their technology team on a 6-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and executing reusable automated testing assets to ensure the quality, scalability, stability, and performance of enterprise solutions.
• This role requires strong experience in test automation, quality engineering, Agile delivery, DevOps integration, and functional and non-functional testing within complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Testing & Quality Engineering

• Use automation test kits, frameworks, and predefined test tools to inspect, analyse, design, develop, implement, and execute reusable automated test assets.
• Perform test validation to ensure the quality, stability, and reliability of solutions and architecture.
• Develop automation code for execution of functional and non-functional tests (NFT).
• Design, configure, and implement scalable and reusable automation testing solutions.
• Create and maintain automated testing pipelines.
• Integrate automated test execution into DevOps pipelines.
• Ensure adequate automation coverage within sprint cycles.
• Identify defects, anomalies, bottlenecks, and issues through test execution analysis and reporting.
• Maintain and enhance existing automation solutions.

Agile Delivery & Collaboration

• Participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, test estimation, and story acceptance criteria discussions.
• Contribute to defining test approaches, Definition of Ready (DoR), Definition of Done (DoD), and defect management processes.
• Work closely with:
• QA Leads
• Developers
• Architects
• Product Owners
• Practice Leads
• Cross-functional technical teams
• Support continuous delivery and Agile testing practices.
• Participate in code reviews to align with development standards and best practices.

Technical & Solution Support

• Review and analyse technical artefacts such as:
• Architecture designs
• Technical landscapes
• Technology roadmaps
• Solution requirements
• Ensure test environments are available, stable, and functional.
• Support unit, integration, and automated solution testing.
• Improve architecture quality and system performance by collaborating with technical teams.
• Ensure all testing artefacts are stored and maintained in the repository.

Stakeholder Management & Reporting

• Liaise with stakeholders across technology teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery.
• Provide guidance on quality engineering best practices.
• Communicate testing progress, execution outcomes, and risks to stakeholders.
• Obtain sign-off through review sessions and solution validation.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve testing frameworks, processes, and systems.
• Contribute to enterprise quality engineering standards and practices.
• Share technical knowledge, automation trends, and best practices within the team.
• Support junior team members through knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant IT Degree or Diploma (Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or similar)
• ISTQB Advanced Certification (Preferred)
• Agile / DevOps Bootcamp or similar training (Advantageous)
• 7–10 years' experience in software testing / quality engineering
• Strong practical experience in:
