Specialist: Senior Cloud Engineer at Altron Bytes Systems Integration

Job Description

The successful candidate will be a highly skilled cloud engineer with experience as a technical lead who can take responsibility for leading a migration team and be accountable for the quality of its technical deliverables. A hands-on coder with experience building and deploying solutions in cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure, Huawei). Previous experience with cloud platform design, enterprise infrastructure implementations, high performance computing solutions, and DevOps principles will be used in setting direction for the team and guiding them in technical decisions them. The role will work closely with technical architects, pre-sales teams and other teams to deliver value to our customers.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for leading a cloud migration team
• Responsible for the quality of the team’s technical deliverables
• Responsible for sustaining the team’s delivery pace
• Establish in collaboration with senior architects, the technical vision with the delivery migration team
• Resolve technical issues within the team
• Work with technical architects and other stakeholders to define technical options
• Structure work for the team and support the project managers in managing the team’s capacity
• Help with planning priorities across teams
• Design, develop and implement AWS-based applications and migrations.
• Analysing user requirements to inform infrastructure design.
• Debug and resolve technical problems that arise.
• Support Pre-sales initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Educational Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering
• AWS Solution Architect Associate Certification (minimum)
• AWS professional level Certification (preferred)

Professional Qualifications

• Google Cloud Associate Engineer certification (optional)
• Google Cloud Professional Architect certification (optional)
• Azure Fundamentals certification (optional)
• Huawei HCIP-Cloud Service Solutions Architect certification (optional)

Years of Experience:

• 7+ Years’ Experience as an infrastructure engineer/developer in a related technology
• 2+ Years’ Experience as a Cloud engineer –
• Exposure to Designing/Architecting Solutions for public Cloud
• Team lead experience

Other requirements

• Experience with consulting, infrastructure implementation, migration and modern build strategies, continuous integration, unit testing, test driven development, static analysis, and automated integration tests and agile delivery
• A working knowledge of general IT tools and practices (Security, Networks, Load Balancing, Proxies, DNS, CDN, Caching, Databases, etc.)  
• Strong communication, presentation and mentorship skills, and being able to translate technical jargon to less technical people
• Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills
• Database exposure (Oracle PLSQL, MS SQLServer)
• NoSQL database experience (Cassandra, DynamoDB, Couchbase)
• Familiarity with unit testing frameworks (JaCoCo, JUnit) and TDD
• Experience and knowledge in CI/CD practices (git, svn, gradle, maven, yarn, bower, npm, Jenkins, Bamboo, Gitlab, Bitbucket, etc.)
• Container deployment, scaling, management, etc. (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.)
