    DOC Controller - Free State Oil (Pty) Ltd, Villiers

    Job Description

    The DOC Controller will be responsible for the DOC division within Free State Oil, ensuring effective and up-to-standard processing of Soya Oil products according to quality specifications.

    Requirements

    • Comprehensive understanding of DOC plant operations and machinery.
    • Possession of or willingness to obtain a front-end loader license.

    • Never leave the plant unattended while in operation.

    Quality Control Supervisor - Qpro Feeds, Bethlehem

    Job Description

    The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for the quality assurance of the raw materials as well as final products produced by Q-Pro Feeds. Good Manufacturing Practices as well as ISO System Management will form an integral part of this role whilst ensuring that the laboratory is a world-class testing facility.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • National Diploma in Animal Nutrition required.
    • Min 3-5 years related experience in animal feed / factory environment.
    • Knowledge required:
    • Quality processes within production environment, product and raw materials.
    • Handling of test and measurement equipment.
    • Knowledge of the South African Act of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations 85, 1993.
    • Knowledge of SABS ISO: 9001-2008 standards, GMP and AFMA code and Act 36.
    • Computer literate (Excel – Intermediate required, Word and email)

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Check NIR analysis of all incoming raw materials and finished goods daily
    • Control of urease analysis of full-fat and soybean oil cake, record result on data basis - each load received to be tested
    • Collect all NIR data and plot on graphs weekly. Compare NIR data to Wet Chem analysis to determine any variation in raw material / finished product quality - report to management when there are deviations.
    • Control of the following: Sieve and Fraction tests, Density, visual raw material and finished product samples. Rejected product batches and reworked product
    • Control of test and measurement equipment matrix to ensure everyone is always up to standard and specifications. Calibration certificates are recorded (6 monthly or as and when required) - expired stock, available stock etc.
    • FP Moisture monitoring on daily basis
    • Where information is not completed, provide reasons for non-compliance.
    • Daily monitoring of accuracy of Fat coating process
    • Checking preparation and sending of RM & FP samples to specific Institutions for verification of inclusion %
    • Taking samples for Salmonella (truck registration, compartment where tested) & cfu monitoring, supervision of Dusting in all relevant areas (Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays)
    • Monitoring of bunkers to identify when quality will be at stake
    • Submitting Wetchem schedule samples & outlier feed samples for verification - Notify, keep submissions & results on file for reference purposes
    • Check standard and cleanliness of Laboratory and maintaining good 20Keys score.
    • Measuring performance, do job observations every month
    • Management and coordination of weekly / monthly meetings to handle all quality & personnel issues
    • Schedule service and calibration for measurement equipment as required
    • Coordination of internal and external training for Laboratory Operators
    • Overseeing the taking of accurate samples for testing to prevent unnecessary costs.
    • Adherence to lab expense budget in terms of Wetchem submissions and lab equipment.
    • Control and coordinate the laboratory functions.
    • Maintain laboratory equipment and records in a neat and orderly manner according to established standards and procedures.
    • Ensure that the LAB data base is up to date.
    • Bi-Monthly audits in accordance with ISO and AFMA Standards
    • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures and work instructions pertaining to quality and food safety
    • To liaise with manager on an ongoing basis to ensure the quality of services and products.
    • To train, mentor and coach all relevant employees to maintain standards, practices and processes.
    • Report on Feed Additive inclusion via scheduled analysis to ensure quality of finished products.
    • Reporting on quality trends and data capturing.

    Supervisor: Loading - QPro Feeds, Bethlehem

    PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

    Performing daily duties related to receiving, binning, picking, loading of vehicles, inventory control and balancing final product.

    QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Qualification: Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
    • Computer literate: Microsoft Office (Intermediate)

    PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Personnel management and management of the output of all staff reporting to the position.
    • Ensure all scanners and printers are operational in all areas.
    • Ensure daily documentation required is printed and available.
    • Ensure shift handover are done and communicate between shifts.
    • Moving equipment check sheets completed at the start of each shift.
    • Distribute loading schedule for loading team.
    • Manage and control warehouse and dispatch process: Receiving, binning, picking, loading of vehicles, inventory control and balancing final product, damaged product, short dated or expired product.
    • Verify final product pallets according to quantities, product ranges and schedule/production plan.
    • Repack broken bags as applicable or send back to Production according to procedure for repacking.
    • Sign off stock received from the Production teams with stock handover between departments.
    • Verify the following when stock is received:
    • Product type (Correct packaging vs Pallet label)
    • Quantity received
    • Quality: Quality of bagging, slings intact
    • Pallet barcodes visible on all product
    • Expiry dates
    • Return product that are out of spec and damaged.
    • Move pallets into the Warehouse storeroom
    • Scan pallet label into the applicable allocated bin.
    • Pick pallets from the correct applicable bin number according to the system.
    • Verify that the correct pallet number is picked according to Pallet Barcode.
    • Move picked pallets to the loading area, keeping pallets per load together.
    • Pick all orders in advance – Sign off picking slip before load is loaded onto the vehicle.
    • Inspect vehicle before loading final product onto the vehicle.
    • Ensure all slings are wrapped before being loaded.
    • Ensure integrity of the product before loading, verifying the following:
    • Expiry date
    • Product quality (Not hardened, not rotten or wet)
    • Smell of product (No strong smells)
    • Ensure that the correct product (no broken product bags) and quantities are loaded onto the correct vehicle.
    • Load vehicles properly according to procedure considering: Axle, load integrity, load intact, load stable and secure to reach destination safely.
    • Split loads: Load split loads ensuring loads are properly split between customers, considering sequence of deliveries.
    • Load vehicles in the least possible time to avoid standing times.
    • Complete administration per load: Picking slip and Shipment documentation.
    • Ensures that offloading documents are completed.
    • Control daily damages to a minimum.
    • Minimize downtime to a minimum.
    • Minimize vehicle standing times to a minimum, loading vehicles in the shortest possible time
    • Stock control and rotation according to FIFO principle – Maintain expiry dates of stock.
    • Perform daily accurate stock counts.
    • All pallets not used: Stacked neatly in the designated area.
    • Remove all broken pallets daily to the waste area.
    • Clean working area continuously.
    • No unnecessary items lying around.
    • Stack feed bags neatly. No bags allowed on the floor.
    • Re-pack broken bags immediately at all times
