    Manager: Corporate Legal Services - Cape Town

    What will you do?

    A position for a Manager: Corporate Legal Services exists in the Corporate Legal Services team, based at Santam Sandton or Tyger Valley, Cape Town.
    The purpose of the role is to render legal support and solution services to the Santam Limited Group, taking into account commercial demands and business imperatives.

    What will make you successful in this role?

    • Manage all legal aspects and key contracts in the direct, intermediated and outsourced business environments i.e. binder holder, outsourced services and intermediary services agreements in our Conventional, Specialist and affiliate businesses.
    • Lead the business in achieving legally and commercially sound outcomes through the provision of considered and legally astute advice. 
    • Support business interactions with external services providers and stakeholders, including but not limited to claims disputes, service disputes and managing non-claims litigation.

    Qualification and Experience

    • The minimum formal qualification for this job is a LLB university degree and admittance as a practicing attorney or advocate in the High Court of South Africa. 
    • At least eight to ten years working experience in the short-term insurance environment.
    • Highly developed negotiating skills and a very thorough working knowledge of insurance law.
    • Highly developed research and reasoning skills and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts in a user-friendly format.
    • High level of professionalism with the ability to provide legal solutions which are comprehensive, accurate and practical within very tight timeframes.

    Non-Motor Desktop Assessor - Riscor

    JOB DESCRIPTION
    To assess merit and quantum of a non-motor damage claim through digital photographs, etc. This position entails assessing most types of non- motor claims. Further responsibilities include adjudication of these claims, consulting on claims processes, and aftercare provision to clients, compiling management information and ensuring client satisfaction.  

    This role will also get the allocated motor claims ready for an assessor to be appointed, to handle all such claim enquiries and be responsible for the allocated claim until payment is complete. This will include communication with the client, Intermediary and or Service Provider as well as car hire requests and process of payments on claims as per Assessor’s recommendations and instructions.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    •  Accountable for all claim interactions directly with the client/broker. 
    •  Responsible to determine merits, quantum, item identification, buying.
    •  Responsible for negotiating and settlement of claims with the insured/broker 
    •  Responsible for communicating with the client/broker from beginning to end and is the one contact person for the client/broker.

    Digital Marketing Specialist (Intermediate) - Bellville

    About the role

    We are growing the Santam Switch digital marketing team and are looking for a digital marketing specialist to accelerate awareness and adoption of the Santam Switch mobile app (iOS and Android). The role is responsible for managing the implementation, optimisation, and reporting of campaigns across all paid and earned media channels. The role is also responsible for understanding the fast-changing digital marketing landscape, and assisting in driving innovation and improvement inside our digital marketing environment (platforms, analytics, best-practices, etc.)

    Digital marketing strategy and development

    • Be experienced with the Google Ads analytics suite and able to build views/reports/queries as needed: Google Analytics (GA4), Firebase, Google Data Studio.

    • Audit and assist in maintaining BI reports and dashboards.

    Responsible for the development and execution of test cases to verify and validate the functionality on the workflow (Dynamics 365) and Robotics (UiPath) platforms.     The Purpose of the job is to provide data management and business intelligence services for the Santam Group that spans across all stakeholders with specific reference to the management of the Data use cases and the delivery of Santam’s future data architecture as part of the Business Information renewal journey.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The purpose of the role includes the following:

    • Ensure that the application systems are designed, built and operated in an effective and efficient manner.

    BI Data Management Lead

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • The Purpose of the job is to provide data management services with specific focus on data sharing, data quality, reference data and metadata management and tooling, for the Santam Group.

    CAREER OPPORTUNITY

    • As a Data Management Lead your primary responsibility will be to establish, implement, and maintain effective data standard practices for data sharing, metadata management, reference data management and data quality. You will work closely with various departments to support with compliance and with data management standards across the organisation.  
    • You will also be responsible for the management of a team of ±5 for the establishment and management of the central Santam Data Management capability in B.I.T.S. environment The role will be based in Bellville, Cape Town.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • The purpose of the role includes the following:

    • Establish and Optimise the Data Management capability within the central Digital and Data Team.
    • Ensure technical delivery and operation of data platforms with specific focus on appropriateness, technical quality, maintainability, performance and availability of the data management tools.
    • Help the Santam Group to optimise the use of data within the bounds of policy and regulation to make decisions and take actions that maximise the benefit of data usage.
    • Manage a team of data analysts, data quality specialist and architect.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Primary responsibilities: 

    • Data Management Lead you will provide the following key services: 

    Data Sharing & Processing:

    • Champion and ensure that IT, data owners, data stewards, legal counsel, information security understand and implements the data sharing standard and process.
    • Facilitate and conduct data sharing workshops with end users and relevant stakeholders to provide support and actual sharing of data across various internal and external stakeholders.
    • Develop a comprehensive legal and secure data sharing strategy focused on the maturing of data management across the organisation.

    Metadata Management:

    • Create and manage a centralised Data Asset Register, Business Glossary, and metadata repository where all relevant metadata is documented, stored and easily accessible to users.
    • Facilitate and conduct workshops with end users and stakeholders to provide support and guidance in the development of solutions and processes for the capturing of metadata for different business use cases.
    • Ensure that metadata management is closely integrated with data governance and data quality initiatives. This includes defining how metadata supports data governance policies and how metadata contributes to data quality improvement efforts.
    • Develop a comprehensive metadata strategy focused on the maturing of metadata management across the organisation.
    • Design a metadata taxonomy that defines the structure, classification, and organisation of metadata elements such as business terms (business glossary) and critical data elements.
    • Establish and manage Standard Operating Procedures for onboarding business glossaries followed by curation, cleansing and standardisation of business terms.
    • Design reports that provide insights into metadata usage as well as specific stakeholder requirements which will support the business in understanding the metadata landscape.

    Data Quality:

    • Work with application teams, data quality specialists, data stewards, data analysts and key data owners to implement data quality rules to ensure data quality controls are enforced for critical data elements. 
    • Develop a data quality strategy focused on the enablement of data quality across the organisation. 
    • Promote a culture of data quality by creating awareness, doing demos, supporting the business in identifying critical data elements and managing Proof of Concepts.
    • Ensure that data quality initiatives are closely integrated with data governance processes and policies.
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements, challenges, and opportunities for data quality enhancement.

    Reference Data:

    • Establish a roadmap for the implementation of master reference data.
    • Develop processes for creating, validating, and maintaining master reference data, including identifying ownership and recording metadata.
    • Establish integration processes that allow applications and systems to access and utilise master reference data from a centralised repository.
    • Define and implement mechanisms for ongoing improvement of master reference data management processes. Regularly assess the strategies to address emerging challenges and changing business requirements.

    QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s Degree - applicable major preferred (Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Management, Project Management, Process Engineering, Statistics/Applied Maths)
    • DAMA certified data management professional (CDMP) or similar data management certification 
    • Minimum 5 years experience of people management  
    • 5 years strong Data Management experience 
    • Similar or Informatica Suite (EBC, EBX, IDQ, Axon) experience will be advantageous

    KNOWLEDGE
