    Facilitator (PPPrev) uMgungundlovu

    Purpose of the position:

    The purpose of this job is to facilitate multi-session evidence based structural programmes and conduct risk reduction to vulnerable AGYW to provide information and promote positive behaviour change in a safe space.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 certificate
    • Accredited / recognised 10 days counselling certificate
    • Facilitation training and beneficiary of PPPrev Programme would be an advantage
    • One-year facilitation experience working in the community
    • Computer literate in MS office
    • Proficiency in English and isiZulu languages
    • Valid Code 08 driver’s licence and own transport
    • Knowledge of the district health system, including structures like District AIDS Council, Local AIDS Council and war rooms

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Identify safe spaces in the community where structural programmes can be conducted
    • Conduct vulnerability pre-screening and identify the vulnerable girls to participate in structural sessions
    • Provide multi session structural programmes
    • Conduct online comprehensive risk reduction assessment
    • Ensure layering between structural programmes and behavioural and biomedical services
    • Support structural program coordinators (SPC) with mapping out of the communities, schools and institutions of higher learning with burden of disease
    • Lobbies and advocates for youth in relation to HIV, gender and related issues
    • Develop a work plan for the upcoming months
    • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings
    • Attends training and workshops as part of staff development
    • Networks with all relevant stakeholders and implements an effective referral system to ensure effective service delivery
    • Complete pre-screening vulnerability form for each beneficiary
    • Assist beneficiaries to complete all the fields in the register including SA ID and other PEPFAR UID related fields as well as the Zimisele card number upon graduation.
    • Enter each beneficiary LIVE on the CommCare Zimisele App upon issuing the Zimisele card during graduation
    • Records and maintains accurate and detailed information and keeps statistics in order to submit as required
    • Ensure compliance to POPIA
    • Submits weekly/ monthly reports to the supervisor

    Enrolled Nurse - Ehlanzeni

    Purpose of the position:

    The Research Study Enrolled Nurse will support study implementation, including biological sampling and on-site testing, support for referrals, under supervision of a Professional Nurse.  This will be part of a biobehavioural survey among female sex workers

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 / matric
    • Enrolled Nurse qualification
    • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience
    • Registration with SANC as an Enrolled Nurse
    • Familiarity with community-based research principles
    • Knowledge and experience in research with key populations, ideally with female sex workers a bonus
    • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and STI screening, diagnosis and management, including pre-exposure prophylaxis
    • Experience in conducting, interpreting and counselling people using HIV and other rapid diagnostic tests
    • Experience in obtaining patient blood and sputum samples as well as preparing and submitting biological samples to the lab for testing
    • Strong focus on quality management and quality improvement processes
    • Recognized counselling certificate, Certified to conduct finger prick testing will be ideal
    • Certification in and demonstrated understanding of Good Clinical Practice and related codes and laws applicable to the conduct of human subjects’ research in South Africa will be an advantage
    • Fluent in isiTswana, isiZulu, English or any other South African languages

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Collection of sputum and blood samples through phlebotomy
    • Performing rapid point of care tests (HIV, viral hepatitis B & C, recency, p24 and syphilis)
    • Preparation of Dry Blood Spot and Plasma Separation Card samples
    • Referral for services; initiation or onsite referral for PrEP and ART initiation, STI treatment; HBV vaccination
    • Issuing of educational material and prevention packs
    • Support stock control procedures
    • Filing of participant’s study forms and laboratory results and capturing into a application
    • Implement and maintain data collection and analysis systems in support of research protocol
    • Ensure study data is stored in a secure location with limited access and in compliance with applicable guidelines and standards
    • Implement and continually monitor quality control processes throughout the conduct of the research study and implement corrective action where needed
    • Engage in daily and weekly review of data and study and site related meetings
    • Establish and maintain relationships with participants and service providers
    • Complete and support maintenance of records of research activities and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports

    Social Auxiliary Worker - Chris Hani

    Purpose of the position: 

     To provide psychosocial services under the supervision of a social worker within the context of the Care and Treatment programme focusing on people living with HIV (PLHIV), adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), adolescent boys and young men (ABYM) who are at risk of interrupting treatment. This will include screening and risk-based assessment using the available tools, and referral to a social worker for therapeutic social work services.

    The social auxiliary worker (SAW) will also conduct adherence support within the framework of adherence guidelines addressing disclosure and adherence issues, mental health, as well as engage with relevant stakeholders such as government departments, and partners in the social and health work fields.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Certificate in Social Auxiliary Work from a recognised college or institution
    • Minimum of 2 years’ related experience
    • SACSSP (South African Council for Social Service Professions)
    • Preference will be given to qualifying candidates residing within district/ subdistrict
    • Proficiency in English and isiXhosa languages
    • Valid code 8 driver’s licence

    Data Monitor (uThukela)

    Purpose of the position:

    To monitor and evaluate the data collected and captured by the data capturers and to ensure the highest data integrity for accurate reporting. Responsible for ensuring the maintenance of the relevant electronic database/s; along with data correctness, completeness, consistency through regular data verification, routine data quality checks and assessments as well as supporting with field visits.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Degree/Diploma in health/ public health/ social sciences or another relevant field
    • Certificate in database management
    • DHIS or TIER.Net data management computer programme certificate
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in data management, maintaining and/or updating databases; data verification / quality assurance experience

    Duties and Responsibilities    

    • Receive and verify daily submitted data tools and stationery
    • Ensure standardised and most up-to-date tools and stationery are used for data collection
    • Assist in developing or amending tools and stationery as required
    • Liaise with regional staff to rectify any gaps/errors with the PPPrev (incl. IES), GBV, HTS and PrEP stationery
    • Ensure that data captured and reported is accurate
    • Verify all data thoroughly and help implement better ways to improve data quality
    • Monitor and match all data reconciliation reports on a daily basis
    • Ensure resolution and follow ups are performed timeously on all data discrepancies / variances
    • Conduct and / or participate in site visits Verification of PPPrev (incl. IES), PrEP and HTS data for consistency, completeness and accuracy.
    • Conduct routine data quality checks within the specified time frames
    • Compile PPPrev/HTS/PrEP (incl. GBV and IES) RDQAs
    • Support and attend DRUM meetings as required
    • Provide consistent and reliable data reporting to management
    • Compile weekly, monthly and quarterly data reports as directed
    • Provide data capture training, coaching and mentorship as identified
