    Server Engineer - Gauteng

    PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

    • May be required to support other systems, based on team and individual skill.
    • Note: this role has a requirement to support all sites. Therefore, it includes occasional travel to DBN and CPT, in addition to local travel in Johannesburg between sites.

     MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

    Server Infrastructure Management Physical and Virtual on all sites

    • Plan and execute server hardware and software upgrades as needed

    System Administration

    Data Centre Site Supervisor - Durban

    Data Centre Management

    • Manage a team of technicians to ensure smooth operation of the facility.
    • Responsible for management and distribution of maintenance tasks and managing client upgrades such as cable replacements, component and accessory swap out and custom upgrades.

    Client Experience Co-ordinator (Gauteng)

    PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

    Proactively identify obstructions to high quality servicing and implement strategies to deliver the required level of service to the client, utilizing the on-site resources. Support any issues that may arise at other sites, that impact customer satisfaction, and escalate to site management if required.

    MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

    General

    • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and processes.

    • Report any issues identified by means of logging tickets to initiate a resolution process.

    Client Experience:

    • Execute frequent daily walkabouts in areas frequented by clients of Teraco. Identify any issues that a client may have and ensure that their requirements are being met.
    • Facilitate a high-quality client experience offering to the client by the on-site staff, and if required assist with resolution or servicing. 
    • Must have a positive attitude and high levels of energy. Needs to be a problem solver and quick-thinking individual.
    • Optimise client satisfaction.
    • Gather and communicate suggestions, comments, and feedback to management.
    • Plan and implement preparation activities that may be required for major client deployments, and/or execute on a plan provided by a Service Delivery Manager / Management to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.

    Administrative responsibilities

    • Potential ticket escalation to other divisions of the business or technical teams.

    Escalation and Reporting

    Assistant Project Manager & Energy Marshall

    PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

     These may vary in both size, technical scope and complexity. Projects will include but are not limited to:

    • Large custom client deployments, ranging from colocation deployments to entire DC hall deployments.
    • Assist the site Project Manager on site with all projects related tasks
    • Responsible for the safe switching, energization, de-energization, LOTO (lock out, tag out)  and access into live /energized rooms during construction and fit-out
    • Active participation in both the inspection and approval for any energization, as well as enforcement of the rules and regulations, inclusive of national regulations, Teraco procedures and locally developed site procedures pertaining to electricity on the construction site
    • The role will carry legal responsibility and a GMR 2.7 appointment in terms of the OHS act & regulations

    OBJECTIVES

    MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

    The Energy Marshall will be required to :

    • Compile and maintain the necessary local site-specific energization, switching and LOTO procedures to ensure safe switching and energization. These should be informed by existing Teraco procedures and take the following into consideration:
      • PPE and risk based on the Arc Flash studies
      • Effective communication of energization
      • Effective signage to inform of energized equipment and rooms
      • Effective control of LOTO keys and mechanisms
      • Control of access into energized rooms and areas
      • Effective record keeping
    • Ensure that a process is in place that verifies qualifications, training, and PPE of personnel performing electrical work, and that these are regularly audited.
    • Ensure that the necessary legal compliance with regards to Earthing certificates, COC’s etc,
    • Formulate and implement safe isolation and LOTO for all electrical work on the site

    In order to achieve the objectives, the energy Marshall must:

    • Assess and inform himself of all the electrical design/ arc flash studies – and raise any RFI’s /queries or issues on the BIM360 or similar portal should there be any concerns.
    • Inform himself of the overall project plan and timelines and provide input to Project Managers regards HRA Electrical activities and timelines.
    • Establish an open and professional relationship with the Project Managers, Professional team, Commissioning Team, Safety Team, Electrical Contractors & OEM’s. The role will require that the Energy Marshal is able to balance the often-competing requirements for completing work safely and at pace.  In many instances this will require the Energy Marshal to actively facilitate the formulation of RAMS with the Contractors and Safety Teams, which are both safe and practical, with consideration to the plan and the disruption of other works that may be in process or affected by outages. 
    • Apply the necessary due diligence in terms of physical inspections and verification that work is complete to the required standard before energization.
    • Ensure compliance with the BIM 360 checklist processes for energization
    • Assess and guide all RAMS and Method statements relative to any electrical work on the site and approve prior to work commencing 
    • Over-inspect and raise issues on BIM 360 relative to safety and quality
    • Ensure legal compliance documentation pertaining to the build and fit out are being submitted timeously by the contractor, checked by the professional team – and uploaded to the requisite portals – and flag concerns to the GMR2.1
    • Report to the responsible GMR 2.1 on all matters related to this section.

    The Assistant Project Manager will be required to:

    • Assist with project documentation, including Microsoft Project schedules , Risk Register, Project Minutes/ Action plans/ Email trails;

    Occupational Health, Safety & Environment Officer

    PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

    • The Brackenfelll HSE Officer will report operationally to the National HS&E Lead, DC Operations and functionally to the Brackenfell Data Center Manager.

    OBJECTIVES

    MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB 

    • Support the DCM in aligning the EPP with the HSE organogram and appointments.
    • Provide and advise DCM’s and staff on HSE compliance matters.
    • Ensure compliance with Teraco’s operational HSE specification pertaining to contractor management.
    • Implement Teraco’s HSE incident management procedure.
    • Advise the DCM on the management and control of the requirements of the waste management plan.
    • Inspect projects in relation to the HSE specification (segregated and non-segregated projects). Ensure all deviations are addressed timeously.
    • Support the employer in his/her duty to ensure a safe work environment to contractors, staff, visitors, and clients.
    • Represent Teraco in an advisory or nominated position as a member of the HSE committee meetings on matters regarding workplace health, safety, and environment.
    • Validate contractors HSE induction prior to commencing work on Teraco premises.
    • Participate in contractor risk management process i.e., risk assessment, review of method statement, and the communication thereof.
    • Verify the implementation and compliance of HSE work procedures and plans.
    • Compile monthly HSE reports and submit to Head of HSE operations for Environmental, Social, Governance and Environmental (ESG) and Board reporting.
    • Validate that applicable HSE inspections are done as per the schedule.
    • Ensure all HSE signs and notices are prominently displayed on site.
    • Enforce and maintain good housekeeping principles with Teraco staff and contractors.

    • Provide HSE support to Project Management during Construction Activities.
