    Inspector: Buildings - Auckland Park

    Main Purpose:

    To maintain the Buildings in Auckland Park, ensuring that, the buildings are kept in a good state of repair and also ensuring compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Building Regulations.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    OPERATIONAL PLAN

    • Organize, plan and control operational activities
    • Conduct daily buildings and grounds inspections
    • Ensure that buildings are clean and comply with OHS
    • Update consolidated fault reports and follow up.
    • Compile monthly reports regarding reported faults
    • Monitor daily maintenance and project activities 
    • Organize, plan and arrange furniture moves
    • Assist with set up furniture for functions
    • Load faults on SAP notification system
    • Attend clients and project meetings
    • Constant contact with stake holders
    • Monitor service providers and contractors to ensure compliance with standard specification set on contract  
    • Supervise, direct and guide building office move
    • Change of new door locks and the cutting of spare keys as requested by clients
    • Ensure asset transfer form is completed before moving assets
    • Consult with internal clients and contractors on services to be rendered
    • Continuous assessment to ensure optimal usage of space
    • Brief and Manage contractors on projects
    • Quality assurance of work completed.
    • Receipt and management of consumable stock

     FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

    • Compile quotations for building, electrical and mechanical costs for office changes

     GOVERNANCE, RISK AND COMPLIANCE

    • Ensure compliance to OHS act
    • Ensure compliance to NKP act
    • Compliance to Procurement processes
    • Ensure compliance to SABC policies

    CONTRACT MANAGEMENT

    • Initiate, prepare and negotiate related real estate and consumable contracts
    • Maintain the various agreed and signed Service Level Agreements
    • Contract Performance management

     ADMINISTRATION

    • Maintain accurate records for the upkeep of drawings, certificates and other related documents
    • Communicate Standard Operating Procedures
    • Maintain a database of real estate.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • 5 years’ experience in general building maintenance and construction environment

    Accountant: Payroll - Auckland Park

    REPORTING TO THE MANAGER: PAYROLL: To ensure timeous, correct and efficient results of the payroll, according to SABC policies and procedures and in line with the relevant legislatives.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    BUSINESS OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY 

    • Ensure accurate loading of sundry debtors, advances and related payroll deductions (voluntary and involuntary) and earnings on the payroll system.
    • Verify all changes to employee payroll/ HR master data records according to authorizations.
    • Ensure that all tax directives are maintained on the payroll system.
    • Maintain an effective, professional interface with stakeholders and resolve salary queries including tax queries.
    • Protect operations by keeping financial information confidential.
    • Complete tasks within assigned time frames (be timeous).
    • Maintain quality service following SABC policies and procedures.
    • Management of reports received from ACB/Banks for salaries or bonds which were returned unpaid.
    • Supervise and manage effective filing of source documents for ease of reference and auditing purposes.
    • Checking/verifying of payroll data input by team for control purposes.
    • Ad-hoc duties including distribution of pay slips monthly and IRP5 certificates annually.
    • Project work related to payroll operations and effectiveness.
    • Verifying of leave data and be able to reconcile leave balances.
    • Manage any unpaid leave types, e.g. maternity leave, general unpaid leave etc.
    • Manage relevant reporting and communication to Third parties as allocated and authorized to line manager.
    • Accurate salary Cheque control
    • Prepare and submit payroll forex payments
    • Ensure accurate maintenance for IRP5 purposes.
    • Prepare payroll month end reconciliations
    • Run a pre-DME and DME file with supporting reports
    • Prepare mid-month payments
    • Supervise and verify the vendor payment process
    • Month end reports for external and internal stake holders
    • Test on ERP system developments, enhancements and support packs

    GOVERNANCE, RISK AND COMPLIANCE 

    • Ensure adherence to policies and procedures and proper corporate governance. 
    • Review and monitor the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures, (SOPs). 
    • Monitor compliance and adherence in line with risks identified. 
    • Adhere and reporting on all Occupational Health and Safety Compliance. 
    • Work closely with auditors in the course of internal and external audits and ensure findings are resolved and address gaps.

    CUSTOMER AND STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT 

    • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholder to ensure delivery on business objectives.
    • Monitor Service Level Agreements with service providers to ensure adherence to requirements.

    LEADERSHIP AND PEOPLE MANAGEMENT 

    • Contract, set target and manage Performance of the team in accordance with the Performance Management policy. 
    • Effective management of Employment Relations issues within the Business Unit. 
    • Manage, direct, guide, motivate and develop the team 
    • Ensure effective communication within the department and division and promote effective communication channels. 
    • Personnel Development Plans (PDP) for all staff members. 
    • Provide direction on the attraction and retention of staff. 
    • Ensure the relevant Job profiles are prepared and are available for the Business Unit.

    INHERENT/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting or relevant qualifications (NQF7)

    EXPERIENCE

    • 6 Years’ experience in payroll management of which 3 years should be on supervisor level.

    Fixed Asset Controller - Auckland Park

    MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION

    • To maintain the fixed assets registers for SABC. To ensure compliance with safekeeping procedures for assets as required by the PFMA. To ensure the proper recording of fixed assets in the financial records i.e. acquisitions, disposals, transfers and depreciation. To conduct periodic physical verifications of the fixed assets register.

    BUSINESS OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY

    • Maintain fixed asset register of departments, business units or provinces to which assigned.
    • Accurately record newly acquired assets.
    • Allocate bar codes to fixed assets and create/update master records.
    • Identify and validate by means of verification through bar-code label linked to the asset tracking system and the fixed asset register.
    • Identify assets clearly through accurate descriptions contained in the fixed asset register.
    • Update fixed asset register with any transfers of assets between cost centres and physical locations.
    • Recommend the corrective measures and process the applicable form for unutilised assets to be signed off by the supervisor.
    • Check forms completed for the write off, of obsolete/stolen assets for completeness and accuracy before capturing on system and submitting it to the supervisor.
    • Record profit or losses on disposals of fixed assets as per invoices received.
    • Conduct and validate physical verification of fixed assets for every asset at least once per annum.
    • Record results of the physical verification against fixed asset register and report differences to supervisor for approval to amend the register.
    • Analyse and clear asset--under-construction accounts in the general ledger on a regular basis on minor and major projects.
    • Accurately classify and reclassify all fixed assets in the fixed asset register.
    • Identify and correct inaccurate entries in the fixed asset register.
    • Monitor and review work performed by asset verifiers.
    • Remind end-users to report any fixed assets losses.
    • Perform ad-hoc assignments as required by the Supervisor.

    STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

    • Liaise with the Insurance Department to enable the processing of relevant documents for lost, stolen or damaged fixed assets.
    • Liaise with Capex Administration to identify problems in the assets under construction accounts.
    • Timeous resolution of fixed assets related queries.
    • Consult with clients and employees with queries related to payroll.
    • Consult and advise internal clients with queries related to assets management.

    GOVERNANCE, RISK AND COMPLIANCE 

    • Understanding and applying of all relevant statutes, BCEA, LRA, and PFMA.
    • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
    • Update fixed asset register for assets sold or written off as approved in accordance with policies.
    • Continuously inform/advise/update all employees on policies, procedures and new developments.

    INHERENT/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Grade 12
    • Degree or National diploma in accounting NQF 6/ 7 or relevant qualification

    EXPERIENCE

    • 3 years financial accounting / fixed assets experience

    • Experience in three phase electrical system, standby generators and UPS
    • Experience in air conditioning plants, chillers, refrigerants, and water system
