    General Ledger Accountant

    What you will do:

    • Will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger structure, records financial transactions into the company's general ledger and subsidiary ledgers and pulls reports. Responsible for smaller service lines / P&Ls with less complex transactions. Provides support to Service Line Finance Managers in pulling GL reports for the purpose of budgeting and forecasting.
    • Supports the Senior Accountants (Service Lines) and the Assistant Manager (Service Lines) in general accounting activities.

    Enablement Accountants will be responsible for the end-to-end management of the Country/ Enablement Function general ledger including, but not limited to
    Budgeting, Forecasting and Target setting:

    • Budgets and forecasts for the central functions
    • Assists in calculating recovery of enablement functions costs per service line
    • Assists in performing direct and indirect cost allocations
    • Assists in setting targets for the central functions relating to cost efficiency

    Financial Reporting:

    • Assist in preparation of monthly results reporting pack and commentary (for enablement functions)
    • Assist with reporting of performance against KPIs and North Stars
    • Checks detailed general ledger and reallocates expenses to correct enablement departments (i.e. staff expense claims)
    • Determines provisions and accruals for assigned enablement functions
    • Consolidates results for assigned enablement function
    • Assists with preparation of bi-annual forecast
    • Assist with reconciliation of balance sheets for assigned enablement function
    • Submits year-end reconciliations for assigned enablement function
    • Prepares file for CFO’s perusal and report on review notes

    Processing of Journals:

    • Posts to and updates the General Ledger (GL)
    • Processes journals at month end and at request of the CFO
    • Processes all journals for central functions (for example bonus provisions, leave pay provision, budget smoothing general journals, accruals, reallocation accounts and cost center journals, canteen charges, rent, print room, standard, adjusting, audit, and closing journal entries etc.)
    • Assists in resolving any discrepancies
    • Raises provisions for debtors where required
    • Adjusts and releases provisions accordingly
    • Assesses impact of proposed general ledger change
    • Reconciles sub ledger entries

    FNB Credit Cards and Staff Debtors (Enablement Functions):

    • Prepares and uploads journals
    • Converts credit card allocation sheets to journals
    • Conducts staff debtors allocations and deductions

    Fixed Asset Accounting Enablement Functions):

    • Reviews procurement invoices
    • Compiles a Fixed Asset Register (FAR)
    • Reviews any updates made to the FAR with the asset details and asset classes
    • Reviews any discrepancies resolved between the FAR and the GL
    • Pulls FAR reports from SAP
    • Identifies assets to be written off and writes off assets accordingly
    • Recognises proceeds from the sale of assets
    • Impairs assets when applicable
    • Accounts for depreciation and capitalisation of fixed assets
    • Verifies GIS FAR

    General:

    • Reviews and follows up on debtors
    • Performs period and year-end close activities
    • Performs closing adjustments and process allocations
    • Assists Senior Accountant/ Business Partner with queries in respect of financial issues related to their departments
    • Assists Senior Accountant/ Business Partner with other tasks as required
    • Performs first-level cost analysis and provides feedback to the Country/ Regional/ Enablement Business Partner/s on the results

    Main Purpose of Job

    As a Big Data Architect in our Data Analytics practice, you are passionate about data and technology solutions, are driven to learn about them and keep up with market evolution. You will play an active role throughout the entire engagement cycle, specializing in modern data solutions including data ingestion/data pipeline frameworks, data warehouse & data lake architectures, cognitive computing and cloud services.     •     3+ years’ experience with analytics/data management strategy formulation, architectural blueprinting, business case development and effort estimation of disruptor based analytics
    •     Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand non-technical language in order to facilitate, communicate and interact with executives and business stakeholders, working with Agile development methods in data-oriented projects

    Internal Clients Services - Finance - Project Services - Accountant

    Effective delivers Project Services (PS) administration services to the business (as per dedicated Service Line) for engagements that are simple or small in nature or in support of Service Lines that have large volumes but are less complex in nature
