    Legal Adviser – Swellendam

    Responsibilities:

    • Company documentation and secretarial work:
    • Capture of all company armies.
    • Handling all statutory matters of companies.
    • Taking minutes and updating them at all meetings.
    • Issuance or cancellation of shares in companies and the drafting of all related contracts.
    • Checking of companies' respective MOIs (Memorandum of Incorporation).
    • Submission of annual CIPC returns.
    • Compliance with NCA requirements and annual renewals.
    • Collection and maintenance of FICA information from directors and shareholders.
    • Handling all corporate governance matters.
    • Updating and improving template documents.
    • Maintaining minute books, reviewing trust deeds, registration, amendment, and deregistration of trusts at the Master's Office, organizing meetings.
    • Compliance: General legislative and regulatory compliance for the company and clients, including, but not limited to, POPIA, FICA, the Companies Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
    • Drafting of internal and staff contracts.
    • Development of employee policies.
    • Provision of legal and works as required by the employer, including research and risk assessment.
    • Communication with clients, lawyers, government agencies, etc.
    • Handling of litigation matters: Assignments to external lawyers for the initiation or defense of legal proceedings on behalf of the company, and supervision of the litigation process.

    Minimum requirements:

    • LLB degree and admitted legal practitioner (non-practising).
    • Knowledge of company and related legislation.
    • Minimum of 2 years of regs experience after admission.
    • Excellent communication skills in Afrikaans and English.
    • Excellent ability to pay close attention to detail, effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and perform under pressure.

    Tax assistant – Benoni

    Tax assistant needed

    We are looking for someone to join our dynamic tax department to assist (but not limited to) with the following:

    Individual tax submissions ITR12, this included:

    • Requesting for documents from individuals
    • Understanding what documents are required by SARS and the format they should be in for example the requirement of a logbook
    • Preparing rental schedules
    • Preparing business income schedule
    • Understanding the basic calculations of capital gains tax
    • A basic understanding of exempt income vs taxable income
    • Preparing assets and liabilities schedule and have a basic understanding of reconciling this schedule
    • Able to prepare the ITR12 for submission

    Company tax submissions ITR14 this includes:

    • Having a basic understanding of the financial statements and tax computation
    • Able to prepare the ITR14 for submission
    • Inspecting the assessments and highlighting differences
    • Basic understanding of the objection and appeal process and assist with preparing the documents
    • Request for remission of penalties
    • Following up on refunds with SARS
    • Uploading of supporting documents to SARS for the verification/audit process
    • Update efiling profiles and RAV01 forms as well as facilitating SARS appointments

    The successful candidate must be able to:

    • Work under pressure
    • Ability to work independently
    • Be deadline driven
    • Good communication skills both verbal and written
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
    • Have a minimum of  3 years experience in a tax department
    • Must have knowledge of Greatsoft and be able to process all the above on Greatsoft

    Junior Tax Administrative Officer (Assistant to the Tax manager) – Pretoria

    Job Description:

    BVSA Chartered Accountants and Financial Services are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Junior Tax Administrative Officer. This position will be based at our Pretoria office and will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our tax-related processes.

    Responsibilities:

    • Register clients for tax, including VAT and income tax, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines.
    • Act as the primary point of contact with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) for exceptional situations and resolve any tax-related issues or inquiries.
    • Compile assessments daily on Greatsoft and accurately calculate Greatsoft fees.
    • Prepare and send notices of tax payments to managers, keeping them informed of the payment schedule and deadlines.
    • Collaborate with the manager to follow up on income tax payments, ensuring timely and accurate settlement.
    • Set up income tax payments, utilizing appropriate systems and platforms.
    • Proactively follow up on outstanding SARS refunds, liaising with relevant parties to expedite the refund process.
    • Submit updated banking details to SARS promptly and accurately.
    • Receive SARS emails and maintain a query register, ensuring all correspondences are appropriately recorded and addressed.
    • Prepare and submit supportive documentation of clients to SARS, maintaining accurate records and adhering to regulatory requirements.
    • Manage the provisional tax process, including accurate calculation, submission, and record-keeping.
    • Update clients’ e-filing profiles, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory changes.
    • Attend to SARS queries, requests from Taxpayers, and Public officer appointments.

    Requirements:

    • A minimum of 2 years of experience in tax administration, preferably in a similar role within the financial services industry.
    • Solid knowledge of South African tax regulations, including VAT, PAYE, and Income tax.
    • Solid knowledge of SARS policies and procedures.
    • Solid understanding of the full Tax administration function.
    • Familiarity with Greatsoft or other tax assessment software is highly desirable.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and SARS.
    • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other relevant software applications.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
    • A degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field would be advantageous.
