    Admin Clerk - B3

    Description

    Technical support duties

    • Capturing and scanning of all applications onto SIOMS
    • Ensuring all information is correct before releasing to Surveyor for approval
    • Following up of client queries pertaining to certification and surveys
    • Calculation of Sea service for seafarers 
    • Knowledge of Marine Notice 13 of 2011
    • Knowledge of Training and Certification Regulations
    • Extensive knowledge of Intranet so as to guide clients to correct documents
    • Knowledge of small vessel surveys and certificates
    • Knowledge of Fees Regulations pertaining to clients' requirements
    • Shadowing of SSC as to assisting Surveyors with Technical queries and support in absence of SSC
    • Accompanying surveyors on survey and other jobs in order to upskill their knowledge and understanding of technical queries and support
    • Typing of Statutory certificates of survey for surveyors and authorised agents
    • Recording certificates typed in register for statistical purposes
    • Answering of switchboard and relaying messages
    • Monitor incoming faxes and assisting with photocopies.

    Stakeholder Management

    • Manage front desks for all walk in of clients and candidates
    • Assist clients and stakeholders daily with regards to applications (COF, COC, Radio, Seaman Books)
    • Manage change of ownership of small vessels for clients
    • Manage client's sea-time information and calculation
    • Assist clients in navigating the intranet and SAMSA website
    • Informing Stakeholders of new requirements and regulations
    • Maintain front desk with all undated checklists and application forms, TV5 articles
    • Inform clients of required certification needed and institutions which conduct training
    • Notifying and ensuring Statutory certificates are ready for collection when required by clients

    Auditing

    • Responsible for maintenance of the office files and archive in accordance with SAMSA system
    • Manage correspondence in the files, ensure in the correct order and work has been signed off by surveyors
    • Assisting Auditors with filing requirements when needed

    General

    • Maintain front desk with all updated checklists and application forms, TV5 articles
    • Photocopy and certify all original documents
    • Discretion must be taken whether candidate qualifies for exams or not
    • Ensure that all courses are valid and SAMSA approved
    • Managing own performance and ensuring it meets the deadline
    • Manage collection registers
    • Keeping track of all incoming and outgoing Courier collections
    • Any other work required to do on instruction from the Manager

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Matric Certificate 
    • National Certificate in Administration that is equivalent to (NQF 5) is essential
    • National Diploma in Administration (NQF 6) would be an added advantage

    EXPERIENCE

    • 3 year's administrative experience
    • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
    • Experience in or knowledge of the maritime industry will be an added advantage

    Senior Manager: Employee Relations

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Design and lead SAMSA's enterprise-wide employee relations and labour strategy to strengthen organisational resilience.
    • Ensure full alignment with the Annual Performance Plan (APP), Strategic Plan, and management vision while mitigating labour risks and optimising workforce stability.
    • Govern the strategic ER portfolio through scoping, budgeting, and value realisation.

    Ship Surveyor Engine - D3

    Description

    Ship Surveys and Inspections:

    • Undertake all Statutory Surveys, Audits, and Inspections in accordance with applicable legislation and other relevant regulations relating to Marine Pollution Prevention and Safety. 
    • Give effect to our obligation under the Instruments relevant to the III Code (Tonnage, COLREGS, Load line, SOLAS, MARPOL)

    Examinations and Accreditations:  

    • Give full and complete effect to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1978 in accordance with the provisions of section A-I/8 of the STCW Code, whereby all training, assessment of competence, certification, including medical certification, endorsement and revalidation activities are carried out, by applying appropriate domestic legislation. Comply with the Quality Standards System of SAMSA to ensure alignment with STCW. 

    Legislation Regulations and Policy:  

    • Review, recommend and contribute towards drafting maritime regulations and amendments.
    • Review and Draft Marine Notices and Marine Circulars.
    • Review, recommend and Draft SAMSA Policies and Procedures.
    • Participate in ad hoc projects as and when required in line with level of responsibilities.

    Casualty/Incident Investigations: Undertake casualty / incident investigations

    • Produce reports and make recommendations timeously.
    • Fulfil an expert witness role in a Marine Court of Enquiry.

    Stakeholder Management: Provide consultancy services to Industry Stakeholders.  

    • Participate in and report on local, regional, and international fora and make recommendations.
    • Manage and engage with Stakeholders in accordance with SAMSA Core Values.

    Requirements

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Second engineering Officer (STCW III/2), with all academics and max of 6 months valid Sea-service required towards Class 1, all of which must be acquired within 3years.  
    • Driver’s Licence
    • Own Transport (access to car or willing to get one at start of employment)
    • Medically Fit (Seafarer Medicals) to proceed to Sea if sea-service is required Travel is compulsory on local and international trips

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

    • Chief Engineer >3000 KW (STCW III/2 – no limitation)
    • STCW ancillary courses
    • Sailed in rank of Chief Engineer.
    • Maritime/Sea going experience for a period of 2-3 years in a management role
    • Valid Passport.

    Regional Manager: West Region - E1

    Key Performance Areas

    Accountable for the co-creation and implementation of the Maritime Operations strategy and business plan

    • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans,
    • Participate in strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting of business requirements and decision-making process.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • or (NQF 8) Business Management or any other relevant qualification
    • NQF Level 9 will be advantageous   
    • Maritime Studies and Certificate of Competence: Master/Chief Engineer Unlimited.
    • At least 10 years' relevant working experience in the maritime industry, 5 of which should have been at Senior management
