    Process Controller Desludging - A3 Operator

    Job Advert Summary    

    The purpose of this role is to scour sedimentation tanks by means of bridges thus ensuring the efficient removal of sludge.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 
    • NQF level 4/ N3 Water and Waste water treatment plant 
    • Two years water purification experience 
    • Computer literate 
    • Class IV Process Controller Classification 
    • A valid driver’s licence and the ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 test. 
    • Physically fit and strong

    Primary Duties    

    • Operation of Desludging bridges according to schedule.
    • Transfer of bridges to next system
    • Reporting of defects on bridges to Sludge Supervisor
    • Assistance with fault finding and repairs on bridges
    • Cleaning of bridge platform and cabin on a daily basis
    • Taking of samples and testing for sludge density on operational bridges and make adjustment accordingly.
    • Reporting of injuries and incidents to the Sludge Supervisor

    Electrician

    Job Advert Summary    

    Reporting to the Electrical Foreman the successful candidate will be responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of plant equipment in order to ensure availability of an efficient plant and continuous water supply to customers.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 or equivalent coupled with a recognized trade test as an Electrician.
    • 2 years post-apprenticeship experience in an electrical maintenance environment. Medium voltage and low voltage experience in operating/maintaining medium voltage equipment and associated control systems are essential.
    • A valid Code B Driver‘s license and the ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 test.
    • Ability to pass the ORHVS certificate.
    • A valid Wireman’s license will serve as an added advantage.

    Primary Duties    

    • Carry out planned maintenance, daily, weekly and annual maintenance tasks. Investigate and repair all breakdowns, by ensuring plant availability, reliability as well as ensuring safety of people and equipment.
    • Perform standby duties as and when required. Give input and execute plant improvements and modifications.
    • On the job training to be provided to new staff, assistants and apprentices. Assisting and manage contractors for all work done example isolations, tests, coordination of tasks etc.
    • Coordination of projects by planning and executing internal projects and upgrades, provide inputs where required, perform plant inspections and assist with the drawing up of scope of works. Assist with the commissioning of new and upgraded plants.
    • Maintenance Planning System by monitoring and analyses of section performance as well as participate in formal RCM and RCA’s.
    • Complete all scheduled job cards, defects, time sheet permits and log books within time in accordance with Rand Water procedures.
    • Faultfinding on all electrical circuits, tracing and locating faulty cables. Perform general electrical work and responsible for housekeeping.
