    Analyst – Solar PV/Energy

    Job Description:

    The Analyst will be responsible for ensuring successful operations of our solar systems once they have been commissioned. The role will include a variety of tasks ranging from managing and supporting the maintenance teams to developing and implementing maintenance plans, data analytics and client relationship management.  The Analyst will identify performance issues, monitor the assets through software and assist the team through data analysis to ensure client satisfaction.

    Position of the job in the organisation:

    The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Operations & Maintenance.

    Principal responsibilities:

    • Analyse and identify processes breaks and design solutions to resolve issues
    • Determines appropriate actions for system issues while monitoring all installed solar assets via Excel Spreadsheet and Databases
    • Ensures the systems are performing optimally
    • Managing monitoring the software
    • Gathers and analyses data to drive business decisions and provide recommendations to senior management
    • Leads onboarding meetings with new external partners
    • Facilitates weekly discussions with our maintenance teams and providers to review outstanding issues and to dispatch technicians when needed
    • Completes requirements gathering and analysis based on business needs
    • Monitors system behaviour such as degradation, production, and underperforming systems to ensure optimal performance
    • Supports billing Analyst team in accurately invoicing customers from preparation, resolving discrepancies and addressing customer invoicing concerns.
    • Facilitates inspections of our solar systems and reviews reports from 3rd party engineering firms to address performance issues and identify problems.
    • Develops user guides and job aids to carry out daily tasks and cross-train other team members.
    • Reviews and audits own completed work for accuracy, makes corrections when necessary, and timely reports status to management.
    • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

    PERSON DESCRIPTION

    Experience:

    • 2-3 years experience in the Solar PV industry relating to asset and maintenance management.
    • Qualification in engineering: BSc Electrical, Eng., National Diploma (or equivalent)
    • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
    • Inverter & solar panel knowledge, including thin film and polycrystalline
    • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Microsoft Projects.

    Advantageous Skills include:

    • Experience as an EPC contractor
    • Experience in asset management software and tools.

    Specific Attributes:

    • Demonstrates a drive for results, efficiency and embraces the value of continuous improvement.
    • Ability to learn new technology platforms (partner portals, reporting portals, etc.)
    • Strong organisational skills and document management skills with acute attention to detail
    • Intermediate SQL skills
    • Ability to work both independently and as a team
    • Ability to navigate your workload by responding to customer system issues first and implementing project related initiatives in downtime.

    Asset Manager – Solar PV/Energy

    Job Description:

    The purpose of the Asset Manager is to manage several solar assets/SPVs by ensuring best practices for safety, quality and environmental performance whilst enhancing the overall returns and value of each project and complying with all of the applicable contractual agreements. You will be the primary contact for all asset management activities carried out on the project and be fully responsible for the day-to-day management of each asset; this will involve working with the financial management team and other internal personnel to provide a solid asset management function across all of the assets.

    As the Asset Manager, you will be responsible for the ongoing management of financial, commercial, and administrative tasks necessary to ensure the optimal financial performance of our portfolio.

    Position of the job in the organisation:

    The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of O&M on all matters.

    Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Management of the contracts of the SPVs through monitoring, reporting, as well as financial and administrative support
    • Optimise project performance
    • Monitor performance during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to ensure all contracted SLAs are met or improved
    • Review and enhance maintenance strategies and activities to reduce downtime 
    • Review regular and other reporting the team/contractors provided and ensure any issues are being suitably addressed timeously.
    • Build strong relationships with contractors
    • Direct supervision of sub-contractors or overseeing the work of management contractors where required
    • Identify and establish the necessary KPIs to monitor the performance of each asset. 
    • Identify equipment faults, and carry out diagnoses and troubleshooting activities with support from the Monitoring Team.
    • Manage the project operational budgets
    • Prepare regular asset management reports on each asset 
    • Maintain and develop management tools, including Operating Plans, Asset Registers and other management tools as necessary
    • Be the primary contact person for the managed assets. 
    • Visit company sites to assess status and conditions, equating to approximately two per month. 
    • Maintain data security and confidentiality 
    • Comply with all required fire, health and safety requirements for your work environment, including making yourself aware of the currently applicable policies and risk assessments, acting accordingly, and attending any required training. 
    • Liaise day-to-day with the Monitoring Team, including Analysts and Maintenance Managers.
    • Any other reasonable task as requested by a Manager, Partner or Director of the business.

    Required Qualifications:

    An Engineering Degree / National Higher Diploma

    Experience:

    • Experience with remote monitoring systems on plants and equipment (preferably solar) 
    • Interpretation of mechanical and electrical engineering drawings, work instructions and design reviews 
    • Contract & Budget management 
    • Advanced Excel skills (macros, visual basic)

    Advantageous Skills include:

    • Previous experience in solar farm asset management activities 
    • Previous experience in a similar role with multiple assets

    Maintenance Technician - Solar PV/Energy

    Job Description:

    We are looking for a Maintenance Technician with minimum experience (+/-1 year) to maintain solar PV electrical infrastructure. Your job will involve retrofitting electrical wiring, troubleshooting malfunctions and blackouts, completing scheduled maintenance checks and repairing solar PV systems.

    Due to this job's high amount of risk, you must be a responsible individual with great attention to safety precautions. The ideal candidate must also have experience in different kinds of electrical devices and systems. We will provide training in relevant solar applications, and therefore specific solar experience is not a requirement but an advantage. 

    As a Maintenance Technician, you will maintain our solar systems, minimise the probability of accidents, downtime, and maximise solar systems' smooth operations.

    Position Of The Job In The Organisation:

    The successful candidate will report directly to the Maintenance Manager.

    Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Solar PV asset monitoring and reporting.
    • Attend to all breakdowns, do fault finding/root cause analysis and resolve, fix or replace the faulty equipment with minimal energy loss
    • Routine and scheduled maintenance checks to prevent the breakdown of systems by inspecting, replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc.
    • Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units.
    • Install electrical apparatus, safety/distribution components, and electronic apparatus when upgrading and replacing solar systems.
    • Manage relationships with customers and contractors when operating queries, concerns, and on-site work needs to be completed. 
    • Submission of maintenance related documentation, including reporting.
    • Diagnose and replace PV panels;
    • Diagnose, test, repair and replace cables, cable inter-connections, PV junction/string boxes, connectors and fuses in PV systems as well as transformers HV yard equipment, switchgear and control gear in PV systems
    • Health & Safety adherence at all times.
    • Perform standby duties.
    • Train/mentor Apprentices
    • Any other job duties as required.

    PERSON DESCRIPTION

    Experience:

    • Proven experience as an electrician. Diploma in relevant vocational training or completed apprenticeship as an electrician.
    • Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings. 
    • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines.
    • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
    • Able to effectively multitask, prioritise and meet strict deadlines.
    • Valid driver's license and willing to travel.  
    • Resourceful and comfortable working in a high pace and changing environment. 
    • Comfortable with working at heights. 
    • Computer literacy (MS Office).

    Advantageous Skills Include:

    Knowledge of:

    • Solar systems.
    • Generators.
    • SANS 10142 and NRS 097-2 standards, with specific reference to embedded generation.
    • Surge and Lightning protection and grounding systems.
    • Networking equipment and industrial communication protocols like Modbus, RS485, Ethernet, etc.

    Work Conditions:

    • Overtime may be required to meet required deadlines.
    • Working over weekends may be needed when high priority sites have emergency call-outs.
    • After hour monitoring of the PV assets will be required. 

    Specific Attributes:

    • Strong communication skills.
    • Team-orientated.
