    Unit Manager

    Job description

    Job Purpose

    The purpose of this role is to manage the total activities within a packaging unit, from raw materials management to finished goods delivery, in order to ensure supply of Distell: Springs products (beer, RTD, and ciders) to customer.

    Incumbents Will Be Required To But Not Limited:

    • Translates the production strategic imperatives into an operational unit plan, in support of the business strategy;
    • Executes and implements the production operational plan, monitor progress and trends both qualitatively and quantitatively in order to realise unit objectives;
    • Optimises production and related processes by identifying and implementing improvement opportunities within the unit;
    • Ensures effective management of information of the unit, through formal and ad-hoc reports
    • Manages human capital and organisational development through the IR processes and leadership;
    • Manages personal development plans as a base to attain the people development objectives of the organisation

    Qualification

    • BSc or BTech Degree in Engineering or Science is the minimum qualification required; a degree in production management will also be considered.
    • Computer Literacy (MS Office, SAP, Production Systems)

    Characteristics/skills And Knowledge

    • 5 years experience in FMCG, preferably obtained in a bottling or beverage manufacturing environment;
    • At least 5 years experience in a leadership role or managing people in a production environment;
    • Possess strong team leadership, effective communication, problem solving skills;
    • Display conceptual thinking and achievement orientation

    Job description

    Core Capabilities / Activities

    • Handling of business, travel and function arrangements as well as enquiries.
    • Acting as “gatekeeper” when scheduling/diarising meetings, appointments and key events, resulting in effective diary management.
    • Processing of orders/requisitions on SAP.
    • Capturing of budgets on SAP and assisting with monthly reporting.
    • Liaising with internal & external work partners.

    Assisting with the following reports:

    • Weekly Site Report
    • Site Dashboards (KPI’s)
    • Site Monthly Report
    • Site PTRS

    All Site Travel Arrangements

    • General secretarial duties.
    • Performing administrative general office tasks, including post, telephone and office equipment.
    • Effectively communicating and following up on urgent matters.
    • Handling confidential issues.
    • Recording and compiling minutes of Regional Management meetings.
    • Auditing and feedback of sales admin documentation.
    • Attendance of all Distell and Sales functions.
    • Understanding of basic financial concepts including variance reporting.
    • Compile and control cost centre budget and expense claims
    • Compilation of Management presentations.

    The Successful Candidate Must Have The Following Experience/skills

    • Matric Qualification.
    • A secretarial or relevant qualification will be advantageous.
    • Energetic professional with a high level of confidentiality.
    • Must have at least 2-5 years proven admin experience.
    • Computer literate in MS Office and PowerPoint together with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
    • Must have the ability to work accurately and under pressure.
    • SAP Knowledge will be advantageous.
    • The ability to multi-task.
    • Effective Time Management.
    • Be able to communicate effectively at all levels, work across-functions and the ability to work in a dynamic and diverse team environment.
