    Mine Closure & Rehab Advisor - Kathu

    Job Description:

    As our Mine Closure and Rehabilitation Advisor for the disciplines of mine closure, rehabilitation and biodiversity some of your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

    • Identification of measures that assist in minimizing land degradation
    • Assist in the formulation of the Mine Closure Plan, by identifying mitigation and rehabilitation measures to be embedded in the plan
    • Optimized Mine Closure Plan and closure costs
    • Identification of significant closure risks over a short, medium and long-term
    • Development and implementation of sustainable rehabilitation prescriptions
    • Management of service providers responsible for rehabilitation activities, weed control and other tasks that are relevant to your area of responsibility
    • Compilation, implementation and monitoring of relevant plans and procedures (e.g. Rehabilitation Strategy and Implementation Plan, Biodiversity Management Plan, etc.)
    • Enhance biodiversity protection by ensuring  ecological considerations are included in all plans and procedures
    • Oversee and monitor implementation of biodiversity offset areas
    • Management of Sishen nursery and compost projects
    • Maintain current knowledge of pertinent legislation to ensure compliance with government regulations
    • Regularly review data and conduct research to extract trends, identify problems and compile management reports and to keep abreast with best practice
    • Annual updates of the Sishen closure liability. Knowledge and experience working with DESWIK will be beneficial for this purpose

    Chief Safety Officer - Thabazimbi

    Job Description:

    • Your responsibilities will include:
    • Lead / participate in Site Safety inspections and manage Safety Officers
    • Subject matter expertise within the business of the mining activity and process under the role’s control and direction
    • Co-ordinate and participate in Safety audits for Operations / Sites

    • ISO 45001
    • Mine Overseer Certificate for metalliferous will be advantageous.

    Experience

    Occupational Hygiene Officer - Musina

    Job Description:

    The Occupational Hygiene Officer is involved in the planning of monitoring, the measurement of Health stressors (e.g. air monitoring) the evaluation and interpretation of exposures to ensure that Venetia Mine remains compliant with health and hygiene legislation.

    KEY RESULT AREAS:

    • Personal and area monitoring, measuring, and controlling of chemical and physical hazards (e.g. noise, thermal stress).
    • Produce monthly feedback reports on work done for compliance
    • Conduct surveys of workplaces with potential occupational health hazards in the form of chemical hazards, physical hazards, ergonomic hazards, and biological hazards.
    • Conduct SHE File audits to ensure compliance with the Occupational Hygiene requirements as per OHSAS 18001 & and mine procedures.
    • Evaluate and quantify the levels of the different hazards present by making use of specialized equipment and instrumentation.
    • Compare findings of assessments and surveys with statutory exposure limits in order to determine if a potentially hazardous situation exists.
    • Capturing actions on Safety Management System for deviations in the workplace that may lead to occupational health hazards as per survey recommendations.
    • Knowledge sharing through training of the workforce in identifying and addressing health and hygiene hazards.
    • Assist the Senior Occupational Hygiene Officer in conducting and performing occupational health risk assessments (under the guidance of the appointed occupational hygienist).
    • Assist the Senior Occupational Hygiene Officer in planning, design, and implementation of occupational hygiene programs and control measures.
    • Conduct investigations of overexposures (chemical and physical hazards) and recommend controls for risk mitigation.
    • Calibrating and maintaining sampling equipment.

    Qualifications:

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (Education & Experience)

    • Grade 12 certificate or relevant national NQF level qualification.
    • 3 Years’ Experience in the occupational hygiene environment.
    • Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control
    • Code 08 (B) Driver’s License.
    • Successfully obtain a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness certificate) and pass Heat Tolerance Screening for Underground Fitness.

    ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS/ COMPETENCIES:

    Recruitment Analyst

    Job Description:

    The Recruitment Analyst will work closely with the Hiring Managers and HR using their resourcing knowledge to ensure that they are delivering the right people and providing a positive and engaging candidate experience for their assigned area. They will be competent in the use of the recruitment technology, actively progressing candidates through their various statuses, offering advice and guidance to the candidates, BU, TA Leads and relevant hiring managers as required.

    Talent Acquisition Performance & Delivery

    • Create and advertise new roles on our recruitment systems, ensuring all relevant information is included in the job description 
    • Collaborate with hiring manager(s) to understand the brief of the role and the skills/capabilities required
    • Screen CVs and job applications to determine if candidates are qualified for the role 
    • Source potential candidates through online channels (i.e. social platform and professional networks) to proactively create a pipeline of candidates for roles
    • Work with the Sourcing Specialist(s) to assess the passive candidate’s talent pools, including Alumni, to understand if they are suitable for potential roles
    • Conduct initial telephone interviews to create a shortlist of qualified candidates and share shortlists with hiring manager(s)
    • Partner with GSS to manage interview schedules for candidates and hiring manager(s) to ensure a seamless service e.g., interview room booking, facilities management, using the recruitment technology solution

    Technology

    • Utilise the full use of TA technology, including the ATS, Smartrecruiter
    • Support the continuous improvement in our TA systems and data, identifying risks/issues and areas of opportunities within the TA process & share with the TA Optimisation team

    Compliance

    • Ensure compliance requirements with external (legislative, regulatory etc.) requirements and internal AA standards, such as pre-screening and Smart recruiter management

    Qualifications:

    Safety Officer Underground

    Job Description:

    The Safety Officer is a legal appointment in terms of regulation 2.17.1 of the Minerals Act.

    Focus areas for this role include:

    • Collect and analyse safety data.
    • Short range Operational Unit planning.
    • Stop work if unsafe and facilitate accident investigations.
    • Carry out statutory inspections (30, 45, 90 days).
    • Compile safety reports and verify compliance to safety systems.
    • This role is in the SHE department at a D1 level reporting to the Chief Safety Officer. 

    Qualifications:

    You will be required to have: 

    • Grade 12 or N3 equivalent. 
    • Relevant Trade Test certificate is required. 
    • Tertiary diploma (M+3) in Safety and Risk Control (NADSAM) will be advantageous.
    • Courses in ISO 14001 and 45001 Safety Management Systems is required. 
    • SHEP Safety training completion will be advantageous.

    Knowledge, skills and experience required: 

    • 3 Years relevant experience as a Safety Officer and /or acting as a Safety Officer within a UG Mining (Mechanized and Conventional) environment is required. 
    • Presentation / Facilitation/ Training.
    • COMSOC I & II or equivalent, SAMTRAC & OSHAS 18 001. 
    • ITIS/Train the Trainer.

    Scaling Rig Operator OC - Mokopane

    Job Description:

    We are currently seeking to employ a Scaling Rig Operator to join our Platinum family at our Mogalakwena Operation. This is a key role within the Mining team where you will be responsible for but not limited to: 

    • Responsible for the scaling of unsafe hanging walls from the crest area.
    • Responsible for pulling of boulder matrix from the high wall.
    • Conduct machine inspection and completion of checklist as per regulation before commencing with work.
    • Ensure that equipment is in good condition before use.
    • Identify any unexpected problems that could require higher level technical support to the equipment and advise supervisor.
    • Ensure timeous reporting of breakdowns to maintenance team.
    • Always ensure that work is carried out in a safe way and according to standards.
    • Ensure working according to planning and assigned instruction book.
    • Move equipment according to heavy duty driving regulations.
    • Required to follow all traffic management regulations and all other mine regulations at all times.
    • Report timeously to the Shift Supervisor when work is completed.
    • Compile an accurate shift report.
    • This role in the Mining Department at a B7 Level, reporting to the Shift Supervisor.

    Qualifications:

    • Grade 12
    • Scaling Rig Certificate
    • Excavator Licence/Certificate
    • Competent A (Advantageous)

    Senior Engineer - Asset Management (Musina)

    Job Description:

    Venetia Mine requires a Senior Engineer Asset management to align and deliver sustainable asset management strategy and tactics for the operation to the AS&R framework, Asset Management Plan and Work Management of Venetia Mine.

    Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for asset strategy and reliability within Venetia Mine.

    KEY RESULT AREAS:

    • ​​​​Ensure legal, safety, environmental and hygiene standards are complied with and maintained within area of responsibility.
    • Interpret organisational requirements for the section, to compile and develop a risk log with appropriate mitigation solutions that align with short, medium and long term Strategic Business Plan objectives.

    • Allocate and manage the utilisation of financial resources and value add to optimise engineering availability and life cycle management of equipment.  
    • Develop and manage maintenance strategies and plans to ensure optimal uptime and reliability of equipment within the operation.
    • Management and co-ordination of team and resources to execute maintenance planning aligned to operational plans.
    • Stakeholder management: liaison with engineering, operational & support function personnel to derive and execute fit for purpose maintenance solutions according to sound risk management practices.
    • Direct the development, motivation and utilisation of human resources for the section to   
    • Ensure a competent knowledge base for continued success within area of responsibility 
    • Development of appropriate engineering maintenance and project systems to support he strategic plans; Bachelors’ degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent 
    • Oversee and manage the engineering planning resources to ensure adequate scheduling of all maintenance of engineering equipment.
    • Ensure the data integrity, upkeep and availability of planned maintenance system (SAP PM). 
    • Management of the reliability engineering function to ensure defect elimination and reliability of assets. 
    • Conduct root cause analysis to ensure understanding, protection and improvement of our assets. 

    Qualifications:

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or equivalent
    • Post Graduate Qualification in Physical Asset Management
    • GCC Mines & Works
    • 5 Years Asset Management experience in the mining environment
    • 5 Years post GCC experience
    • Completion of the Anglo-American Asset Management Professional Development Programme
    •  Knowledge of SAP Maintenance and reporting modules
    • Valid EB/Code 8 Drivers License
    • Psychometric assessments
