    Tax Compliance Administrator

    • Matric
    • Diploma in taxation an advantage

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Tax Compliance Administrator.
    • Experience in audit firm environment.
    • Preferably both individual and corporate compliance and technical experience.

    Responsibilities:

    • Responsible to manage the tax administration for a portfolio of corporate tax clients.
    • Manage the submission of the 1st and 2nd provisional tax calculations on Great Soft and e-filing.
    • Maintain client registered details on Great Soft and e-filing.
    • Apply for tax clearance certificates and tax residency certificates.
    • Apply for company deregistration at SARS.
    • Apply for extension of time for the IT14SD reconciliations.
    • Manage the SARS mailbox and correspondence.
    • Checking of income tax assessments.

    Competencies:

    • Excellent communication skills (including verbal and written)
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Ability to work under pressure and meeting deadline
    • Strong focus on risk processes and procedures
    • Team player
    • Well versed in all facets of general tax compliance (systems, e-filling, SARS liaison, deadline management)

    Senior Manager/Associate Director

    BDO Johannesburg has a vacancy for a Senior Manager / Associate Director: Corporate Tax Compliance. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Tax Compliance you will inter alia be responsible for:

    • Assisting BDO to achieve its financial targets driving the BDO people, brand, business development, technical tax competence and client service in line with BDO values.
    • Reviewing technical documents by utilizing a sound knowledge of basic income tax and corporate law.
    • Reviewing income tax returns (ITR14 / IT12EI) and supporting tax schedules.
    • Reviewing provisional tax calculations.
    • Reviewing IT14SD reconciliations.
    • Reviewing objection and appeals and responses to SARS queries.
    • Reviewing withholding tax returns.
    • Assisting with the research and preparation of proposals.
    • Adapting to a changing work environment and accommodate changing client demands.
    • Liaising with audit partners and audit staff with regards to tax issues.
    • Liaising with SARS.
    • Visiting clients to discuss tax issues and assist clients with SARS audit and queries.
    • Managing monthly invoices and outstanding debtors.
    • Producing accurate work to a high technical standard while coaching and mentoring junior staff.
    • Quality control of all deliverables and ensuring compliance with the BDO risk policies and procedures.
    • Financial disciple and ensuring assignments are delivered on time and within budget.
    • Managing of staff and deadlines.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum B.Com with post graduate specialism (M.Com, LLM (Tax Law) or Hdip (Tax)).

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 15 years’ corporate tax experience.
    • 5 years’ managerial experience.
    • Experience working in the Big 4 firms.

    VAT Compliance Consultant

    BDO has a vacancy for a VAT Compliance Consultant in its Johannesburg offices to provide support to management by virtue of managing VAT compliance-related work for clients, as well as any compliance processes and administrative tasks of the department and firm. Reporting to the VAT Manager you will inter alia be responsible for:

    • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective clients
    • Continuously looking for additional business opportunities and efficiencies
    • Assisting management in establishing the nature of clients' South African business activities and assessing the VAT implications pertinent thereto
    • Effectively driving the process associated with the VAT compliance in an attempt to avoid any unnecessary penalties and interest in consequence of inefficiencies on the part of BDO
    • Executing the overall process associated with VAT return compliance
    • Effectively communicating with SARS with regards to any VAT compliance-related matters, where necessary

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • BCom & Advanced VAT certificate (Advantageous)
    • Excellent Microsoft Office e.g. word, Excel and related software program skills
    • 5 - 10 Years practical VAT compliance experience
    • VAT technical knowledge and practical experience
    • Excellent SARS eFiling experience

    • Accurately and timeously maintain records relating to VAT clients, including filing
    • Performing admin functions Arrange for the recovery of fees relating to VAT compliance work undertaken such as billings and debtor management.
