    General Assistant: Logistics Services

    REQUIREMENTS :

    DUTIES :

    • Co-ordinate the Implementation of School Sport Programmes and District Seasonal School Sport Championships (NSSC). Implement strategic partnership programmes with School Sport Sector. Facilitate the support towards schools participating in leagues, festivals and provision of equipment and attire. Facilitate the establishment of fully fledged school sport structures and the support towards school sport structures. Develop a database of schools in the within zonal and circuits educational areas. Conduct regular meetings with Department of Education to plan, implement and monitor school sport programmes. Formulate key and strategic partnerships with local stakeholders and NPO’s/NGO’s towards the support of school sport programmes. In conjunction with the DoE and School Sport Structures facilitate the submission of training delegates towards education and training courses in the Province. Provide monthly, quarterly, semester and annual performance and expenditure reports on the school sport. Facilitate the annual registration of schools in the school sport programme. Facilitate Stakeholder engagement sessions with the school sport sector to plan for the development of the annual operation plan. Submit all conditional grant reporting requirements as per the conditional grant framework and department reporting requirements.     • A National Senior Certificate plus a National Diploma NQF Level 6 / Preferably bachelor’s degree NQF Level 7 as recognized by SAQA in Linguistic, Socio / Applied -linguistic, Language Planning, Translation and Interpreting Studies, Language Practice / Terminology & Lexicography / Journalism / Communications / Editing or Publishing studies (Languages and Literature services) plus a minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience at a supervisory level (SL 7 / 8) in the field of Languages and Literature development, translating documents from English to isiXhosa.     DUTIES :

    Scientist Production: Palaentology

    REQUIREMENTS :

    • National Senior Certificate plus a master’s degree in Paleontology / Geology / Geo Science/Zoology, specializing in Eastern Cape Palaeoscience. Compulsory registration with SACNASP as a professional Natural Scientist. A minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in a museum natural science environment. Knowledge of curating paleontology collections, research, fieldwork, fossil preparation and publication of scientific papers. Ability to recognise diagnostic characteristics on which classification systems are based. Computer knowledge, laboratory protocol, word computer packages, paleontology, and financial management. Program and project management. Communication skills, Report writing skills, People management skills, Customer or client orientated approach. Knowledge of public service regulations, legislations/ policies/ prescripts and procedures. Knowledge of Eastern Cape Museum Act. National Heritage Act, Operational standards for natural science museum, South African National Standards for Museums. A valid driving licence. 

    DUTIES :

    • Identify, name and classify fossil species based on morphology, and evolutionary relationships. Conduct field surveys and excavations, perform laboratory analysis (fossil preparation and microscopic analysis), curate paleontology collections, and publish research to support knowledge generation and understanding of changing ecosystems through time, and heritage management. Develop and implement methodologies, policies, systems and procedures. Identify and consolidate needs for methodologies, policies, systems and procedures. Identify gaps and develop appropriate interventions. Monitor and evaluate program performance. Perform scientific functions that require interpretation in the absence of an established framework. Provide scientific support and advice. Develop working relations with client base. Create public awareness of the science system. Provide scientific data, information and advice as requested. Review scientific publications.

    Requirements

    • National Senior Certificate plus an NQF level 7 qualification as recognized by SAQA in Cultural Studies / Arts Management / Public Administration / Public Management/ Management/ Library and Information Science/Archives & Records Management/ Heritage & Museum studies/ Cultural Heritage Management/ History/ Fine Arts/ Performing Arts. 5 years minimum experience at senior managerial level. A successfully completed SMS pre-entry programme Nyukela Certificate is required before appointment. Extensive experience in a relevant managerial field.  Experience in developing strategic and business plans.  Experience in government financial management.  Extensive knowledge and experience in Government policies and procedures.  Excellent communication and analytical skills.  Extensive knowledge of Arts and Culture, Libraries and Archives, Museums and Heritage as well as Language Services are essential. 
    • Knowledge of and experience in sector needs and business.  Extensive knowledge in government prescripts, policies and procedures.  Willingness to work extra hours.  Computer literacy with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.  An independent worker, meeting timeframes.  Monitoring and managing compliance of the District with the Statutory Bodies. Must be in possession of a valid code 08 driving licence.  All shortlisted candidates for SMS posts will be subjected to a technical exercise and interview.
