    Grading And Remuneration Advisor - eThekwini

    Job Purpose    
    GRADING AND REMUNERATION ADVISOR

     

    • To undertake research and implementation of policies pertaining to the Job Evaluation and Remuneration functionality for the eThekwini municipality through the guidance and alignment of procedures and controls, applications, outcomes and providing guidance on functional policy and specialist advice aimed at supporting human capital development and the accomplishment of the department key performance areas.

    SENIOR GRADING AND REMUNERATION ADVISOR

     

    • Plans, researches and implements policies pertaining to the Job Evaluation and Remuneration functionality for the eThekwini Municipality through the developments, maintenance and alignment of procedures and controls, applications and outcomes and, providing advice and guidance aimed at supporting Human Capital development and the accomplishment of the department key performance areas.

    PRINCIPAL GRADING AND REMUNERATION ADVISOR

    • Develops policies pertaining to the Job Evaluation and Remuneration functionality for the eThekwini Municipality through the development, maintenance and alignment of procedures and controls, application and outcomes and, providing critical advice and guidance aimed at supporting Human Capital development and the accomplishment of the departments key performance areas.

    Key Responsibility Areas    
    GRADING AND REMUNERATION ADVISOR

     

    • Participating in the control of the Job Evaluation and Remuneration function for the municipality.
    • Provides specialist remuneration advice to line management and human capital department in respect of the interpretation and application of policies, marketing trends, job evaluation, skills scarcity and legislative imperative, professional and job recruitment.
    • Participate in projects from inception to completion for Job Evaluation and Remuneration initiative (eg Job evaluation in respect of organisation/ institutional review, roll out of job description writing for the KZN province for SALGA, review and development of KPA database, Job evaluation arising out of institutional review). Taking into account key implications for finance, HR in its entirety and the key requirements for each unit in cluster.
    • Representing the municipality at contentious grievances and arbitrations hearing on remuneration and job evaluation related matters including but not limited to placement, non-appointments, reporting relationships.
    • Providing an expert compensation management advisory service and input into the developments of communication strategy aimed at ensuring that management, staff and labour are aware of the compensation strategies and the implementation.
    • Maintain a data bank in respect of the key performance areas and alignment of job specifications and NQF levels to facilitate uniform and cost effective advertising of jobs.
    • Provide Job Description training services to the eThekwini Municipality and other municipalities.
    • In Conjunction with the Senior Manager (Compensation and Job Evaluation) provide administration overnight to the branch in respect of resource, staff and finance.

    SENIOR GRADING AND REMUNERATION ADVISOR

     

    • In conjunction with the Senior Manager (Compensation and Job Evaluation) participate in the planning for the Job Evaluation Functionality.
    • Provides specialists remuneration advice to line management and human capital department in terms of current policies and market trends.
    • Manages projects for moderate complex Job Evaluation and Remuneration.
    • Represents the municipality at moderately complex grievances and arbitration hearings on compensation related matters.
    • Implements Compensation related communication strategies aimed at creating awareness and or seeking acknowledgement.
    • Participate as contributing member of programmes and project teams and delivery of specific teams’ outputs.
    • Attend to specific administrative activities.
    • Ensuring that administrative procedures are created and correctly applied.
    • Provide advice and guidance on attraction and remuneration strategies.

    PRINCIPAL GRADING AND REMUNERATION ADVISOR

     

    • Drafts implementation plans for the Job Evaluation Functionality.
    • Provides high level specialist remuneration advice to executive management and human capital department in terms of the current policies and market trends.
    • Provide overarching project management for complex Job Evaluations and Remuneration initiatives in clusters of the municipality and other municipalities within the KZN region.
    • Represents the municipality at high complex grievances and arbitration hearing on compensation related matters.
    • Implements Compensation related communication strategies aimed at creating awareness and or seeking acknowledgement.
    • Participate as contributing member of programme and project teams and delivery of specific team output.
    • Proactively identifies attraction and remuneration gaps and makes recommendations for adoption.
    • Establishing training needs and arranging for necessary training to be undertaken.
    • Analyse market survey trends and guide the implementation process of remuneration related matters.
    • Liaising and assisting Clusters/Units in compiling complex job descriptions including auditing of job descriptions.

    Essential Requirements    
    GRADING AND REMUNERATION ADVISOR

     

    • Diploma in Human Resources Management (NQF level 6) or equivalent.
    • Certified as a Job Evaluator.
    • Valid motor vehicle driving license.
    • 4 Years relevant experience.
    • Computer Literacy.

    SENIOR GRADING AND REMUNERATION ADVISOR

     

    • Diploma in Human Resources Management (NQF level 6) or equivalent.
    • Certified as a Job Evaluator.
    • Valid motor vehicle driving license.
    • 5 Years relevant experience.
    • Computer Literacy.

    PRINCIPAL GRADING AND REMUNERATION ADVISOR

     

    • Diploma in Human Resources Management (NQF level 6) or equivalent.

    Manager (Performance Management) - eThekwini

    Job Purpose    

    • To research, plan, develop and implement Human Capital projects and policies to facilitate specific training and development of relevant competencies and management of the implementation of the Individual Performance Management System.

    Key Responsibility Areas    

    • Identifies with the broader strategy of the Unit and defines/ addresses critical requirements to facilitate implementation of Individual Performance Management.
    • Researching and making determinations on systems and procedures with a goal of formulating and establishing tools and guidelines to facilitate the measurement of individual and service provider performance and/ or the identification of gaps or deviations.
    • Keeping abreast of legislative changes relating to Individual Performance Management processes, strategies in order to provide input into the alignment of performance management policies and performance contract/agreements
    • Preparing business cases and concept proposals for introducing projects that will meet a specific human resources or organisational need and add value to the Municipality.
    • Applying research methods to determine specific requirements and dimensions of performance management for assessing and measuring effectiveness of employees.
    • Monitoring and advising on implementation and assessing compliance with standards and procedures to support synergy between application, understanding and commitment to achieving results.
    • Provide guidelines and information on employee performance management systems.
    • Developing and implementing focused training interventions to capacitate individuals on the interpretation and alignment of performance scorecards.
    • Analyse and evaluate the individuals performance against specific objectives and deliverables encapsulated in the Integrated Development plan and Service Delivery Budget Implementation
    • Plan and other related plans forecasting the Unit or Department priorities.
    • Identify with opportunities to improve the reliability and validity of the Performance Management Systems by conducting research through relevant benchmark mechanism.
    • Consolidating, preparing and publishing performance reports in accordance with timelines detailing the required information relating to the status of performance and submitting to Internal Audit.

    Essential Requirements

    Driver Messenger - eThekwini

    Child Minder (Seasonal) - Durban

    Job Purpose    

    • Responsible for the safety and care of children separated from their parents or guardians on the beachfront, until they are re-united.

    Key Responsibility Areas    

    • Report to the Law Enforcement Office or other location as as directed on commencement and at the end of the shift to sign on and off duty.
    • Report to and remain at the designated beach to which they are deployed for the day unless directed to provide relief at another beach.
    • Erect the shelter/tent at the beginning of the shift and clean and pack away at the end of the day.
    • Keep a detailed register of the names and times of the children were received, who handed them in and the time and details of the persons who the children were reunited with. This information is to be provided to the Law Enforcemant Officers.
    • Take care of and pacify the children in their custody and provide them with refreshments and blankets if necessary.
    • Inform the Law Enforcement of any medical need, shortages in food, blankets or bedding or any overwhelming anxieties.
    • Cook three meals a day for children at the overnight facility and ensure that they have sufficient bedding and clothing which has to be kept clean and washed.
    • Escort children when they need to use the ablution facilities as required.

    Essential Requirements    

    • Appropriate level of primary education
    • 1 Month relevant experience.

    Preferred Requirements    

    • An appropriate level of secondary education.
