    Fraud Solutions - Fraud Process Optimization Specialist

    Job Summary

    • An exciting role that focuses on improving the Fraud Operations “Ways of Working”. Effectively, “Fixing” broken processes and system as well as “Building” capability for effective Fraud detection, preventions and recovery of bank and or customer funds.
    • This specialist role allows a colleague to work independently, with a measure of autonomy, work in a multi- disciplinary team within Fraud Solutions and across various Products and Channels. The Colleague will play a crucial part in understanding the continuously changing fraud modus operandi used by fraudsters and creatively review and enhance “Ways of Working” to mitigate these fraud attacks.
    • This role will advise Fraud Solutions on digital innovation and latest trends in the market to combat fraud, introduce efficiencies and alignment with relevant standards and policies. In this role, you will have an opportunity to influence both Fraud Solutions and the various Products and Channels teams on changes in operations and thus address Fraud Solutions needs.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The high level duties of the role:

    • Serve as subject matter expert across all fraud types and channels
    • Assess business performance against Key Value Drivers and introduce business change to steer business towards strategic objective
    • Critically evaluate fraud modus operandi and assess control weaknesses for enhancement
    • Drive control enhancement intervention to improve fraud detection and preventions rates
    • Identify opportunities to improve fraud control to mitigate fraud losses and negative customer experience
    • Continuously review the fraud recoveries value chain to enhance the rate of recoveries.
    • Continuously review the fraud investigations capabilities to improve the ‘ways of working’
    • Assess and improve the fraud execution tools to enhance operational execution.
    • Investigate and perform needs analysis by interviewing product or business process owners.
    • Provide Subject Matter Expertise to system users who request changes for all systems in use in the department. Support their understanding of the dependencies and interfaces between systems and to help them identify and use existing functionality as far as possible before pursuing new development.
    • Continuously assess the efficiency of systems and processes in place in the department and make detailed recommendations to business process owners and product managers on how to improve, what the savings would be and possible implementation approaches.
    • Analyse the impact of proposed changes on processes, systems, people, methods and controls and advice stakeholders of the identified impact and proposed solutions for conflicts or risk issues.
    • Participate in cross-functional project teams to support operational improvement initiatives resulting in business operations efficiency and improvement.
    • Support line managers with the process changes and improvements within a business unit.
    • Build and foster sound working relationships with all business stakeholders.
    • Guide, motivate and support staff during business processes changes and business efficiency initiatives.
    • Ensure that processes, control requirements and risk management frameworks relating to enhancements and or changes to systems, processes and procedures are managed within governance.
    • Manage the successful integration of new systems by complying with Absa Bank policy, processes and standards.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Relevant degree or equivalent NQF level 7 qualification
    • At least 3-5 years Fraud experience in a Banking environment
    • Project management training ⁄ qualification relevant technology qualification
    • At least 3-5 years’ experience in Fraud systems management and/or Fraud process optimization or enhancement

    The role is within the Converged Security Office your responsibilities will include the following:

    • Help define a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling our Privileged Access (e.g. authorisation, two-factor setup, least privilege access) and/or Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions
    • Create trustworthy user experiences by building interfaces that are simple, easy to comprehend, performant and reliable
    • Configure, test, pilot and rollout new user-facing experiences in modern tools

    What do you need to get in?

    • NQF level 6 B Degree
    • 8 years (technical/lead) experience in technology
    • 6 years Security Engineering experience preferably within a large financial institution
    • Industry & Vendor certifications – CISSP, CISM,  GIAC, Linux, Windows, etc. preferred
    • Experience in engineering and support of BeyondTrust suite and/or CrowdStrike will be advantageous
    • Experience in API integrations will be advantageous
    • Working experience in Operating Systems such as Linux, Windows, MacOS
    • Solid understanding of Web Services technologies (e.g. XML, .NET, JAVA) and remote access protocols (SSH, RDP, SCP)
    • Experience in automation technologies will be advantageous
    • Strong knowledge of information security frameworks and standards such as CIS, ISO27001,
    • Comprehensive grasp of emerging security technologies and threats for mobile & digital channels
    • Knowledge in multiple information security technologies and their strengths and shortcomings
    • Experience with securing information for cross-functional, cross-platform applications

    Credit Analyst/Junior Portfolio Manager

    Job Summary

    • To carry out comprehensive credit assessments and analysis on potential and existing counters within the SA large corporate and Mid-Corporate portfolio to enhance the decision making process in determining the IC’s appetite to extend credit to these companies. To work within existing credit policies to structure appropriate investment solutions for the portfolios and manage all other credit related issues for various credit portfolios.

    Job Description

    To conduct quality credit risk assessments and reviews and proactively manage credit risks associated with in various portfolios. Key accountabilities include:

    • Conduct research on the industry in which the client operates to understand overall profitability, industry trends and clients’ market standing relative to its competitors.
    • Conduct a full assessment of the risks and potential mitigating factors impacting on a investment decision.
    • Perform robust financial and non-financial analysis on the client that supports the review of facilities or new funding proposals.
    • Make use of clients' historical data, for example, its financial statements to forecast the clients’ potential growth and sustainability. Conduct a sensitivity/scenario analysis to determine the impact that a change in, for example the economy, political situation, consumer demand etc. will have on the clients’ financial health.
    • Based on analysis conducted structure a lending solution for the client that will account for the potential threats to the client and that is within set credit limits and the Bank's credit lending policies and appetite.
    • Compile a proposal which summarises, the clients’ background and needs, the research findings and the final recommendation on which credit lending solution is best for the client, for the Credit Manager to approve in the interim and escalate further for the necessary approval.
    • Facilitate the credit sanctioning process by responding to sanctioned enquiries and/or attending all relevant Credit Committee meetings in order to present and sponsor credit applications that have been submitted under your signature.
    • Compile reviews, amendments and new applications to the appropriate lending authorities. Monitor the client performance on a continuous basis, in addition to performing annual reviews of clients, to ensure early detection of a client's business or operating environment.

    Governance and controls:

    • Ensure that the Bank's credit policies, philosophy and all relevant legislation are fully complied with at all times and that any policy breaches have been suitably addressed and mitigated against.
    • Ongoing credit portfolio monitoring and maintenance of Group Risk Appetite across clients.

    Data and Systems Management:

    • To produce relevant management information and manage exposures including the maintenance of relevant systems.
    • Drive capital efficiencies through ensuring that the data in terms of Default Grades (DG's), Loss Given Defaults (LGD's), limits and review dates are correctly captured on the Bank's credit systems and adequately supported by in the credit systems.

    Business Enablement:

    • Provide solution driven support to business to facilitate growth initiatives, whilst maintaining a healthy balance between risk and reward.
    • Participate and add value to business committees where required.
    • Communicate and interact regularly and proactively with business stakeholders while providing insights on risk trends and providing clear risk appetite guidance.
