    Restaurant Hostess

    Description

    Mount Nelson Hotel is looking for a Hostess to create a welcoming environment for all guests visiting the restaurant who is responsible for greeting of all guests entering the restaurant and escorting guests to their seats.

    • Welcome guests to the venue.

    • Seat guests by finding a clean, available table; pulling out chairs; placing clean/current menu in front of guest, etc.

    • Coordinate with the service staff about available seating options.

    • Answer incoming calls and address guests’ queries, take restaurant reservations as and when required.

    • Ensure the introduction of the waiter to the guest table by announcing the waiters’ name.

    • Ensure that the reception/entrance is neat, clean & tidy at all times.

    • Cater to guests who require extra attention (e.g. children, elderly).

    • Assist with adhoc duties as and when required by management.

    • Ensure our guests have a positive dining experience from the moment they arrive till their departure.

    • Acknowledge and respond to relevant customer queries, needs and expectations.

    • Ensure the outlet Manager is kept informed of any guest queries and or complaints.

    • Guide guests through the dining rooms and provide any needed assistance.

    • Conduct regular inspections of the outlet to ensure place settings are appropriate and each guest has a napkin, clean silverware, and any other item that is part of the standard place setting.

    • Check menus to ensure they are current, clean, plentiful, and presentable.

    • Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures.

    • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others and support the team to reach common goals.

    • Perform opening and closing duties, as needed.

    • Engage with guests on a regular basis to ensure highest standards of hospitality and comfort is provided to our guests throughout all phases of food & beverage service.

    • Assist with the allocation of tables and floor layout.

    • Assist with F&B Attendant duties as and when required, to support the team to ensure that the outlet operates smoothly.

    Runner

    Description

    Here at the Mount Nelson, we offer incredible brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner experiences. Our Food and Beverage Department ensures seamless service, orchestrated by the attentive, knowledgeable and approachable staff, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.

    This is an excellent opportunity to work with a driven and passionate team focused on providing an incomparable experience. We are looking for a runner to join the Food & Beverage team.

    • Deliver food orders from the kitchen to guest’s tables rapidly and accurately.
    • Support and collaborate with both Kitchen staff and the waitering staff.
    • Ensure food is served in accordance with safety and departmental standards (e.g. proper temperature, presentation etc).
    • Assist in keeping the outlet clean by wiping down surfaces, sweeping and mopping, removing dirty glassware and dishes, scrubbing coolers and storage areas, and emptying the trash bins.
    • Answer guests’ questions about ingredients and menu items.
    • Inform fellow colleagues about guests’ feedback or requests (e.g. when they ask for the bill).
    • Follow Leading Quality Assurance and departmental standards at all times.
    • Be knowledgeable of the complete food and beverage offering.
    • Prepare tables for set up and closing by setting and resetting linens, silverware, glasses, condiments and cushions throughout service.
    • Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation and report any problems.
    • Ensure adherence to service and clearance procedures.
    • Complete all daily duties as set out in departmental duties and requirements.
    • Ensure that the dining and or bar area, waitron stations, back of house preparation areas and all equipment such as tables, chairs, linen, crockery, cutlery, glassware, buffet equipment and utensils etc. are clean at all times.
    • Perform all food & beverage activities, which includes but is not limited to providing support to room service, bar duties, special set-ups, pool set up and other related activities.
    • Prepare the mis en place at the Kitchen pass.
    • Assist with other duties as and when required.

    Requirements

    • Experience as a runner or similar entry-level role in a restaurant or Hotel.

    • Understanding of hygiene and food safety rules.

    • Multi-tasking abilities.

    • Good communication skills.

    • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced work environment.

    Bartender

    Description

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a driven and passionate team focused on providing an incomparable experience. We are looking for fixed term contract Bartender to join the Oasis Bistro Food & Beverage team.

    • Provide beverage service to guests in a professional and courteous manner consistent with established standards and service levels.

    • Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner.

    • Taking inventory and ordering supplies (with the approval of the Outlet Manager) to ensure the bar and table supplies are well-stocked.

    • Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate, and balancing the cash register.

    • Follow all cash handling procedures as per hotel standard.

    • Ensure that the assigned bar area is fully equipped with the necessary equipment and products needed for mixing beverages and serving guests. This includes stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce.

    • Maintaining a clean work area which includes removing trash, cleaning tables, washing glasses, utensils, and equipment, mopping and sweeping, and deep cleaning the fridges.

    • Staying up to date with the food and beverage offerings on the menu, to assist guests with any queries and recommendations.

    • Responsible for maintaining the back of house prep rooms.

    • Provide the service staff and manager on duty with a daily out of stock update.

    • Responsible for restocking the bar of all basic supplies (napkins, straws, glassware, garnishes, and all other necessities).

    • Ensuring the bar is well stocked with ice, liquor, wine etc.

    • Assist with ensuring the correct storage, handling, and inventory of all items of stock and equipment.

    • Manage the processes to ensure no beverage items ever reaches its expiry dates.

    • Assisting with F&B Attendant duties as and when required, to support the team to ensure that the outlet operates smoothly.

    Requirements

    • Hospitality qualification advantageous.

    • 1- 2 years relevant experience in a similar position within a 4- or 5-star hotel environment

    • Excellent communication skills.

    • Exceptional customer service orientation.

    • Knowledge of silverware – advantageous.

    • Good knowledge and understanding of food and wine.

    • Excellent knowledge of liquors, spirits, beers, wines and flavour profiles.
