Principal Specialist: Data Analyst (Lending)
Our client, a leading technology communications company in Europe and Africa, is looking to hire a Principal Specialist: Data Analyst to join their team in Midrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
As a Principal Specialist: Data Analyst, you will be required to this role is responsible for advanced and exploratory data analytics, modelling and insights to:
enhance marketing efforts, campaign efficacy and portfolio performance
drive business growth and profitability
monitor product performance, and drive product development and product enhancements
highlight process inefficiencies
make data driven adjustments through monitoring and driving insight that enable models that improve risk and create efficiencies
ensure reporting processes are optimised, through scripting and automation
act as Data Steward, ensuring all data governance and controls are in place
partner with Big Data and IT in the customer 360 data models and analytic tools
The objective of this role is to also put the customer at the heart of all operational activities, focusing on channel optimization and performance. Gaining a full understanding of the technical workings of each product and effectively communicating this to others.

Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Honours/Masters in quantitative fields like Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, or related disciplines
A minimum of 8 years’ experience in delivering solid commercial impact advanced analytics projects
Expertise in data manipulation: use of structured data tools (e.g. SQL), & unstructured data tools and platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, NoSQL)
Expertise in major statistical modelling software packages (e.g. R, SAS) and multivariate techniques (e.g. k-means segmentation, multiple regression, factor analysis, time-series forecasting) - preferred
Experience in digital analytics and its applications, e.g., google analytics, adobe analytics, social listening, social network analysis)
Intellectual curiosity, along with excellent problem-solving and quantitative skills, including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions
Experience of working on complex data modelling projects to support strategic, financial and regulatory mandates
8 years experience required Advanced SQL skills including extensive experience querying large, complex data sets
Skillset: R, Python, SQL
Experience in working in visualisation tools like Qlik Sense or PowerBI
